Flash Gordon was a founding movie in my development. I've watched that movie every year since I was 8. I have watched it every New Year's Eve for the last 12 years and numerous years before that. Mark Walberg's character is an accurate portrayal of those of us who saw Flash Gordon as a kid. I actually met Sam J Jones at a comic con panel and we talked for over 30 minutes.
The scene where Mila Kunis is trying to clean up the feces, and Mark Wahlberg is freaking out in the background, had me dying with laughter in the theater😂
"I hate that I have to feel for this character because I would never be in this situation." Tell me you have never seen Flash Gordon without telling my you have never seen Flash Gordan.
I think the important thing to note for the whole VFX discussion is the amount of VFX and the workload on VFX artists. It wouldn't surprise me if the VFX artists who worked on Ted had more time to animate this one character than the VFX artists have to work on entire Marvel action set pieces. I can't help but feel for them with all the reports of how incredibly overworked they are. Even when the product is amazing like the spiderverse movies, the artists were only finishing certain scenes a mere weeks before release date and working six-day work weeks with 11 hour days
Exactly! I was just thinking when he mentioned it that the difference is the MCU has been overusing CGI, which means it's rushed and lower quality. They need more practical effects and sets!
The hilarious thing is that this movie came out the same time as "Magic Mike". Somebody pointed out the absolute hilarity of the fact that all the women in the country wanted to go see a movie about strippers and all the men in the country wanted to go see a movie about a teddy bear🤣😂🤣😆 That was the second greatest fight scene at all time behind they live LOL
Insane movie right here. What are your thoughts or favorite moments? Want to vote on what I should watch next? Click here! www.patreon.com/jamesvscinema Have a great day!
YO! Need a reaction to The Other Guys - another underrated comedic performance by Marky Mark. Featuring Will Farrell, Eva Mendes, Michael Keaton, Sam Jackson, The Rock, and many more. The scenes with "Gator" and "Dirty Mike and the Boys" stick out in my mind as instant classic.
@@JamesVSCinema I concur that you would enjoy "The other guys" but "Flash Gordon" deff a so bad its good movie you should check it out even if just on your time
Definitely suggest all Cinemaphiles check out Michael Mann's "Manhunter" (1986). Its the prequel to Silence of the Lambs, its super stylish and dripping with 80's vibes, and it introduces us to the man who captured Hannibal Lector. Iconic film!
Surprised uv not seen this one, I remember watching it on Christmas day with my dad he was confused as to why I wanted to watch a "kids" film with a talking stuffed bare, the look on his face was priceless
The joke about "9/11, I need to get high" is based on reality. Seth MacFarlane was supposed to be on one of the flights that got hijacked, but he was late and missed his flight.
29:03 i wanna see at the end of a reaction randomly james jumps into the air at the end of discussion and boom freeze frame and the video ends with not even an outro just james frozen with climactic music playing
@ yeah the dad from the show could be a pain in the ass, but he is funny as hell and Susan she’s just a work of heart even though she’s confused as heck like everything that show was top peak like why is nobody not doing any reactions on that show? And why is nobody talking about it and why is nobody know share it with all of their friends on Peacock and why they’re not talk to you about it all over online or anything else like it’s ridiculous. People need to watch the movies and watch the show because it’s funny as hell it’s gonna bring comedy back for what it used to be do you agree?
Growing up he UK in the 80s and 90s there are certain movies that were on TV every single Christmas/New Years without fail. Flash is one of those. Along with James Bond, Watership Down, Die-Hard, Home Alone, Ghostbusters, The Witches, Mighty Ducks & Indiana Jones.
Flash Gordon is the ultimate in cheese 🧀 With a few standout scenes. Maybe two. Also, it's my feeling that the birdmen song in Always Sunny wrestling episode was inspired by the Flash theme song.
Agrred. Though I still quote from the movie often irl, :) And the Queen soundtrack is awesome. I was there on opening day at the theater (mostly because I was a huge Queen fan) and while I left semi-disappointed, I've grown to love the cheese, lol :)
When I was a. child I had an imaginary friend called Pigsy, but my other imaginary friend Bobby stabbed him to death with a kitchen knife. Those were dark times.
*Giovanni Ribisi (actor who kidnapped the bear) is the great serious and underrated one!* Check *"Heaven" movie* with him and Cate Blanchett! And you should try *"Sneaky Pete"series* with Giovanni, there is Bryan Cranston in it as an actor and director/something like this!
Seeing who directed this from the start in Seth McFarlane is indication enough that it wouldn’t be cheesy. Family Guy alone is proof enough let alone his other work like Oroville. Between Ted 2 and the TV series Ted are wonderful. Funny enough Seth tweeted yesterday wrapped up all filming for season 2 of Ted. Season 1 broke all the viewership records over on Peacock.
If I would believe in real magic, I’s say they really filmed a real magical living teddy-bear, that’s how good it looks. It puts shame to these ”5 movies a year” Marvel flix. And the dark comedy in this movie, love it. It’s a 8/10 movie for me.
If you eventually watch the sequel you should definitely watch the show it's a prequel set in the 90s when John and Ted where in high school it's great and it's getting a season 2 soon
I remember going to see Ted at the cinema and there were still parents with children in the room and when they saw the terror that was the bear, some of them left. It's not a film for children. In fact, it's one of the best comedies with politically incorrect jokes that I've ever seen. They know how to make the joke and develop the criticism. It's worth checking out the second film and the series, which are also great.
I have some movie suggestions: Legends of the Fall (1994) Balto (1995) Young Woman and the Sea (2024) The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy (2015-2019) Bottoms (2023) Booksmart (2019) Team America World Police (2004) Poor Things (2023) Gladiator (2000) Fight Club (1999) 2012 (2009) I Am Legend (2007)
If u liked this u should def react to Ted 2.. also "a million ways to do in the west" is another great Seth McFarland movie, it has several ppl in it who were in Ted and/or Ted 2, Liam Neeson, Charlize Theron and a few others.. a couple other comedies I think u would enjoy are if u haven't seen em: Horrible Bosses, Meet the Millers and Game Night.. ✌🏼
Ted 2 is way funnier in my opinion. It’s literally a live action Family Guy episode. This one is great too though definitely more of a solid story than 2.
I kno u dont do music reactions but i should check out on ir own time: Scru Face Jean- Opp List (The Revenge Of The Reactors) its a response to drake putting reactors in the paperwork in the lawsuit against kendrick lamar
Bruh I hope you watched this movie in the right "head space" if you catch my drift.. There's also a season of a Ted tv show prequel that is way better than it has any right to be.
"stand up stright when you talk to me" always gets me
"why the FUCK would he say that?"
Why dafuq would he say that
Giovanni Ribisi is incredible, so underrated
"Look what Jesus did look what Jesus did look what Jesus did". Gets me every time
I mean people make fun of that. But if a Toy came to live and acted like a human being. Thats a miracle.
"I can hear the fat kid running. I bet it's hilarious!"
"BACK OFF SUSAN BOYLE!" 😂😂😂
This was such a surprising and fun reaction! 🤣🤣
The scenes in the supermarket manager’s office ALWAYS kill me. 😂
The kid getting beat up telling him to get lost with disgust is also a banger
The TV show is pretty solid too as a prequel. They recast the parents but overall it is still funny.
Giovanni Ribisi has incredible range we literally -as a collective audience- shed tears over his death in Saving Private Ryan
a great underrated movie he did was Boiling Point.
@@PillarOfWamuu Boiler Room*? Or is there a different movie?
@ oh shit im dumb you right. It was Boiler Room.
@@OPeluso Im dumb that was a typo. You right.
@ Nahh it happens. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't some other underrated movie I was missing out on lol
The closest will ever get to a live action Family Guy😂

I would've been about the same age 😂😂😂 what a movie and to meet Flash in person that's awesome 👍 👍 👍
The scene where Mila Kunis is trying to clean up the feces, and Mark Wahlberg is freaking out in the background, had me dying with laughter in the theater😂
Can't wait for you to get to the TV show, it's legit fantastic
True. It was WAY better than i anticipated.
I honestly loved the show even more than the movies! Don't get me wrong, the movies are great, but the cast in the TV series was so perfect!
I appreciate these chill reactions after a long day. Nice to relax to!
If you end up watching TED 2 there's a post-credit scene most reactors miss

Didn't really understand that comment about Marvel VFX, Rocket Racoon looks amazing in Marvel that is the best comp I can think of.
Mark literally says Chris brown can do no wrong while it plays.
Saw Flash Gordon in the theater as a kid! It's like the most fantastic bad movie of all time! You can't help but love it!!
And music by Queen!
You havent *LIVED* till you have seen the Flash Gordon movie.
"Who did this to us?!"
"I'm here on business!"
😂😂😂
yes, Flash Gordon is a great film :) love to hear your take on it :)

@ hey, I also recommended that movie to James months ago 👍👍
I hope this leads to you watching the show. It’s just as good as the movies

The Chris brown joke was John saying Chris brown can do no wrong the year before he beat rhianna 😂😭
Thank you, James! 🧸 I think you'll appreciate the sequel and the prequel tv series, as well.

its shocking how good the CGI is in the TV show aswell. Things are happening to the vfx pipeline these days.
So happy you weren't afraid to laugh at the "edgy" jokes! It's great to see! Also, again! Stoked to see you doing more movies again!

Yes!!!
Definatly need to watch Flash … it’s crazy
Ted 2 is way funnier in my opinion. It’s literally a live action Family Guy episode. This one is great too though definitely more of a solid story than 2.
Nosferatu is on digital now
Follow right up with Ted 2. Its a must see sequel. It’s just as good as this one. I actually think it’s funnier and better.
Bro needs to watch the TV show now
Certainly hope you do the Ted series, I think it's a lot better than the movies actually. Movies were good though.
YES. View Flash Gordon like YESTERDAY. Definitely before you watch Ted 2.
Love u James
James, you ever watched Ted Lasso?
I can't possibly recommend it more emphatically. If you haven't watched it, it will change your life.
Well now you have to watch the second one
I watched, in part, just to see your reaction to the Taylor Lautner joke.
Somebody should have recommended Flash Gordan before watching Ted!
Hey James check out the Ted series also, imo its even better than the movies it got that perfect randomness from family guy
James, I’m significantly older than you are, and I have no recollection of Flash Gordon
Mila is stunning 😍
