Hey James, you've probably heard that voice from songs like "funky cold medina" and "wild thang". His name is tone loc, he's a rapper from the 80s and early 90s.
To me, yes, its weird if my dog is watching the intamacy… my dog stares. And if he thinks I’m in trouble, he jumps.. it would notnend with a follow up phone call
This movie is the sole reason I got into hardcore music in highschool. A prog/hardcore band called The Fall of Troy had a song called "Laces Out, Dan" and I was already a massive fan of this movie as a kid. Game over
Seeing Cannibal Corpse for the first time opening for Meshuggah in April and I told myself I will absolutely hit some Ace Ventura dance moves in the pit
He already did! Thanks for mentioning funny just watched someone else's last night. Now I need to watch his and being John malchovich, good ol Kaufman!
The butler to which Ace asked "Permission to come aboard, sir" is a dead ringer for Gavin MacLeod aka The Love Boat's Captain Stubing, which makes the statement so funny.
I don’t think you can consider his breakout year and a Golden Globe nomination to be underrated movies. The Majestic, however, IS underrated. But if we are talking about his best role, it’s The Truman Show.
Jim Carrey is also pretty stellar in other genres too. Truman Show is a good blend of comedy and drama, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind is a heartbreaking drama with some crazy visuals, and Number 23 is a decent Thriller.
That's Tone Loc, and Sean Young is indeed the girl from Blade Runner, you got it right. Sonic The Hedgehog is just a nice family film, it's a movie you can do without, easily to be honest. Ace Ventura 2 is dope, and if you're asking about comedies to watch - anything with Will Ferrell directed by Adam Mckay is hella dope - Anchorman 1&2, Step Brothers, Taladega Nights
This is a classic, but the Sequel is a Masterpiece. Written & Directed by one of my Other comedic idols, creator of Barnyard, writer of Jimmy Neutron and Jim Carrey's best friend, Steve Oedekerk.
For 90s comedies i highly suggest the pauly shore movies. Biodome was my favorite but Encino Man was very popular too. Both are very early late 80s early 90s cali vibes. Its even in the name for encino man. Also Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure for more 90s cali vibes.
Tone Loc's recognizable voice is most famously heard on Funky Cold Medina. He also has a nice small part in Heat against a coked up Pacino. Be a good question to find out which performance he found more over the top, Ace or Pacino?
I saw this movie in the theater when it came out and it was one of the best movie experiences of all time. There was a great crowd seeing it that day and we all had a blast watching it and laughing non-stop.
Oh man. Saw this in the fourth grade and it blew my mind. But re-watching these as an adult is like getting double the jokes haha. A true classic :D hope your New Year is going well my man!
Have you ever watched FernGully as a child because I'm pretty sure that guy's voice you may recognize as the very colorful lizards singing a song about how he's going to eat the main character.
This movie has my most used movie quote ever. "Whats the password? New England Clam Chowder! Is that the red or the white? Crap i can never get that part right!"
There are a handful of deleted scenes on RUclips that were cut from the second half of the movie that seem to always appear in the TV edits. The scenes help support and add to a few moments of Ace's investigation of the Ray Finkle angle.
Go Eagles!!! So sick if KC and the Kelces and Swifties ugh Carrey became the biggest comedy actor that year, this, The Mask and Dumb and Dumber all back to back The fight scene with the Eagle reminds me of Family Guy and I always wondered if Seth McFarland took this idea and used it, its glorious
Jim Carrey was on fire during this time period. we had the Mask and then this one and the 2nd Ace Ventura was decent too. Liar Liar The Cable Guy. so many good films. The sonic movies are pretty good actually. I've seen the first 2.
I was already into death metal and Cannibal Corpse in the 90's, so when a friend told me the band was in the movie, I thought he was kidding...NOPE! The song "Hammer Smashed Face" is even on the soundtrack. This was huge and introduced a whole new batch of fans to the band's music.
Someone said that one of the reasons this movie is so funny is because the character of Ace Ventura is in a comedy while everyone else is in a mystery. He also continues to be in a comedy even when he’s all by himself (eg the mission impossible sequence) 😂
Awesome! One of my fav comedies, please check out the sequel as well! I love how you instantly started quoting it, as we all did back in the 90s haha Have a great day! edit - also seen this a million times and never caught the apples and banana on the desk XD
I don't think it can be understated just how popular this movie was when it came out and how explosive Jim Carrey was to 90s audiences I only became aware of his living color characters after this movie came out.
You want the best comedy that nobody has heard of? Checkout the movie Brain Candy from the Canadian sketch comedy group Kids In The Hall. You’ll recognize Dave Foley who plays the reoccurring principal on Always Sunny. 👍
Jim Carrey based Ace on a tropical bird, like a parrot or cockatiel. His hairstyle, colorful shirts, and the way he walks were all thought out to mimic these types of birds.
Ace Ventura, the Mask, and Dumb and Dumber all came out in the same year. That's incredible. And whaaaaaat I never knew you were a nakama. Dope jacket. I wonder what your thoughts on One Piece are its my favorite story of all time.
The Mask is also iconic Jim Carey golden era, but Liar Liar is my personal faovrite. He was in golden form in that movie and the outtakes are incredible. He was also super funny on In Living Color, but most of those sketches probably wouldn't fly on modern youtube.
One of, if not the best comedy ever. I've seen this and "nature calls" countless times on vhs, dvd, streaming and in this kind of RUclips content. ❤ Edit: I'm really stoned and misremembered the sequel name 😅

Have a great day!
Yes, that was Kirk followed by Scotty.
The familiar sounding cop was Tone Lōc. Funky Cold Medina.
Hey James, you've probably heard that voice from songs like "funky cold medina" and "wild thang". His name is tone loc, he's a rapper from the 80s and early 90s.
I recall finding this movie hilarious when I was younger. Alas, nowadays the prominent transphobia taints it too much for me.
To me, yes, its weird if my dog is watching the intamacy… my dog stares. And if he thinks I’m in trouble, he jumps.. it would notnend with a follow up phone call
That's Tone Loc!
Funky Cold Medina himself.
And Wild Thing
@@bradkirchhoff5703 And Surf Ninja's
@@secludedmisanthrope6388 You the man

C-Bear and Jamal
Ace Ventura was the height of comedy when I was a child 😂 Love them
James, do NOT let anyone tell you that you don't need to watch the second movie. It is also amazing.
Very much so, I think I prefer the sequel
@pardeeplace4480 I definitely prefer the sequel!
Half the cast of In Living Color is in the sequel. Hells to the yeah.
@pardeeplace4480same actually
For sure the sequel is great and it feels like an In Living Color reunion in a way which I love about it.
Funny that you mention Lois Einhorn (Sean Young) looking like Rachel from Blade Runner, because that is in fact Rachel from Blade Runner
And Chani the glowing-blue-eyed chick from Dune.
She's no replica. Well, wait, hold up now, one second...
Einhorn is Chani, Chani is Einhorn!
The 2 apples and banana is the wildest foreshadowing 😂
1994 also known as the year of Jim Carrey. He did The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, and of course Ace Ventura.
Thats Tone Loc. Hes the guy that sings “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina”. He was also in “Blank Check”.
This movie is the sole reason I got into hardcore music in highschool. A prog/hardcore band called The Fall of Troy had a song called "Laces Out, Dan" and I was already a massive fan of this movie as a kid. Game over
YES! Doppelganger is one of my all time favourite albums. First thing I thought about while watching too 😁
@patch5217 Yeessssssssss. Doppelganger was/is absolutely iconic. It's nice to meet another fan out in the wild!
crazy you think fall of troy is hardcore
@MBIRTIRoma LPT, easiest way to talk prog with normies. Calm down
Seeing Cannibal Corpse for the first time opening for Meshuggah in April and I told myself I will absolutely hit some Ace Ventura dance moves in the pit
That background pattern is awesome. It’s the less invasive copyright tool I’ve seen yet! I’m so happy you watched this ❤😂 10/10
First time?!?!?!? My GOD man!!
This exact sentence is what fuels the reaction channels. I felt the same way about Secondhand lions. I still hope more people see it
@@josephclay7315 That film's twist at the end got me.
On the vhs and dvd version from 94 there's a deleted scene of him pretending to be a german dolphin trainer. It's hysterical.
Vit da stuffing in da pantz und tha vite tiga
Yep. And still to this day, I have no idea why they cut it.
The copy I watched had that scene. It was side-splittingly hilarious 😂
That's why I haven't seen it in any reactions. "Do you know him? Does he call you at home?!!" Classic stuff, man
@@nickjohnson1445 DO YOU HAVE A DORSAL FIN!?
If you haven't seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, do it quick. That's my favorite movie of all time. An undeniable masterpiece.
He already did! Thanks for mentioning funny just watched someone else's last night. Now I need to watch his and being John malchovich, good ol Kaufman!
39:29 Yes that actress is Sean Young from Bladerunner.
The butler to which Ace asked "Permission to come aboard, sir" is a dead ringer for Gavin MacLeod aka The Love Boat's Captain Stubing, which makes the statement so funny.
'Greetings Captain Stubing! How are Gofer and Doc?'
A childhood favorite of mine.
This film is the reason why I became such a big fan of Jim Carrey.
Ace Ventura? Alrighty then. Love seeing Cannibal Corpse(Hammer Smashed Face) in this movie, dude is a legit fan.
🤘🏼
I chuckled a little when you asked about the banana and apples. I was like, Yeah, about that.
Crazy the work Jim put out in 94, Dumb and Dumber, The Mask and this!
Thanks for the awesome uploads James
Just in case you forgot: I want to hear that story!
"Why does he sound so familiar to me?" 😂Tone Loc
Yup! Wild Thing and Funky Cold Medina still slaps.
Jim Carrey's 94 trilogy and "Eternal Sunshine" is his most underrated piece of work. A work of art, that film
Don't sleep on "The Majestic", he was a brilliant dramatic actor in that one, as well.
Not recommended if you've had a recent break up. Unless you're a masochist
I think his performance in Number 23 is incredible. The plot is bananas, but he and Virginia Madsen are phenomenal in it.
29:40 That is the actress from the original Blade Runner.
That voice is Tone Loc!
You really have to watch "Liar, Liar" arguably one of Jim's best films.
Absolutely
IT WAS MEEEEEEEE
The pen that I am holding in my hand right now is rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraigh!!!!!!!
Tone Loc is why he sounds familiar
This is a classic, but the Sequel is a Masterpiece. Written & Directed by one of my Other comedic idols, creator of Barnyard, writer of Jimmy Neutron and Jim Carrey's best friend, Steve Oedekerk.
Steve also created Thumb Wars and Kung Pow!
@TheJabbate1 damn right he did. Fun fact, he's making another Thumb Wars, and is "trying" to write Kung Pow 2: Tongue of Fury.
Second one is way better imo too, which is saying a lot because I lose this as well 🤣
For 90s comedies i highly suggest the pauly shore movies. Biodome was my favorite but Encino Man was very popular too.

‘Ace Ventura: Pet Detective’ is the best Isotoner commercial of them all
the best thing about this movie is that as great as it is, the second one is even better.
I was using voice to text while busy with other things. Sorry for the lack of punctuation on the above comment.
"your gun is digging into my hip!" best joke ever.
"Liar, Liar" is my favorite Jim Carey joint. Hilarious, but also kind of warm and touching.
32:53 the 2nd ace ventura is even crazier and my personal fav, please dont skip it!
The, "Gah-lee, brother!" Is so warranted. 😆
This and Surf Ninjas, the best Tone Loc films.
This movie has my most used movie quote ever.
"Whats the password?
New England Clam Chowder!
Is that the red or the white?
Crap i can never get that part right!"
I was waiting for the moment when you realized that was Tone Loc 😂
Yes! Laughed along with you once again!
Eagerly waiting for when you’re closing the Austin Powers trilogy. Some of my favorite video’s of yours.
James, for sure put the sequel to this on your list.
I've lost count on how many times I watched this as a kid. A Jim Carrey classic! And yes, PLEASE check out Mr. Bean!
That man who receives the package in the beginning once boxed Larry Holmes
There are a handful of deleted scenes on RUclips that were cut from the second half of the movie that seem to always appear in the TV edits. The scenes help support and add to a few moments of Ace's investigation of the Ray Finkle angle.
Hope your family and loved ones are okay. Sending love to Philadelphia
Love to see more reactions of Mr. Carrey's work James.
I recommend his films such as "The Cable Guy" (1996)
and "Me, Myself and Irene". (2000)
Don’t forget, liar, liar
Me, Myself and Irene might be my favorite of his comedies. Kisses!
11:09 the baby from Bebe’s Kids lol
As a filmmaker you should check out Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind if you haven't seen it yet.
that doctor didnt just almost break character, he full on laughed with his shoulders and all
This movie and Jim Carrey where a HUGE part of my youth.
Jim brought classic Canadian humour to the American audience. (like many before him)
Got to watch the 2nd movie aswell. Probs my fav one

07:00 "is that who i think it is?" "Ding ding ding! 🛎"
"what do you do against someone like that" is the most accurate question for coming up against a 90s Jim Carrey character

Emilio's familiar voice is Tone Loc, who had songs on the radio back in the day.
That is absolutely a Captain Kirk impression he's doing and you should try some classic Star Trek. You'd love it.
Pretty sure "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind" is missing. As far as Jim Carrey goes, this is it for me.
Dude, Ace Venture! Let's go haha! These films always make me crack up, good times from my childhood
I don't think it can be understated just how popular this movie was when it came out and how explosive Jim Carrey was to 90s audiences

You gotta check out part 2.
I’ve been looking for reactions to more Jim Carey comedies. Thank you for this one! Have an amazing weekend!

13:31 I've watch this movie a hundred times and never noticed him yanking the violin 😂
James: “There is some some pieces in this film…”
Us: 🥴😂
Where I found Cannibal corpse
I'm sure I seen somewhere the violin bow yank was improv, just Jim being in character and it works
Maybe you heard that voice in Surf Ninja
Awesome!!!😎👍👍👍 Greetings from Finland
as someone who was born in Kansas city making me a chiefs fan ,and someone who enjoys your channel im in a moral pickel this super bowl
Check out eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
I've done that "HALFTIME!!!" bit in so many inappropriate settings 😅
Jim Carrey based Ace on a tropical bird, like a parrot or cockatiel. His hairstyle, colorful shirts, and the way he walks were all thought out to mimic these types of birds.
My dude, great reaction. You need more comedies. you gotta check out the sequel to this, might be even funnier.
When nature calls is the sequel I hope we get to see you react to that and many more. Thanks for the great reaction this film
I will be subbing to Patreon when the Sonic reactions are happening. I love those films, loved the games, and love Jim Carrey.

Jim Carrey's a big time metal head🤘 that's cannibal corpse playing hammer smashed face in concert
oh that IS Cannibal Corpse? I always wondered that.
Ace is a cartoon character made real.
One of, if not the best comedy ever. I've seen this and "nature calls" countless times on vhs, dvd, streaming and in this kind of
RUclips content. ❤

9:24 Star Trek IV The Voyage Home 😊 have you done a Star Trek 70s-80s movie watch? I'd love your filming perspectives on those
