Wow! That was one of the more eye-opening videos. That arrow went through easily, I actually didn't know if it would go in let alone through, but that war hammer is no joke. I think I've seen documentaries where they find skeletons that show tremendous damage and now I see why. Imagine the excruciating pain if you even survived. Another great video.
Glad to see I'm not the only guy who procrastinates on tightening a bow string! I keep my armguard strapped to my quiver when not in use. I also put bowler's tape on my fingertips even thought I've already lost all feeling in them.
There's an old, old military saying that Rambro might be familiar with. It goes something like this, "that injury is not service related, so you don't get any benefits from the VA." Arrows do far more to bone than I expected. Even with that being a beef bone and far stouter than human and there being no flesh or armor stopping it. Cool video as always! P.S. Ouch! That slap from the string hurts! It's been a while since that happened to me and that was with a fairly low pound age bow, but it's the sort of thing you don't forget, like stepping on a lego barefoot. Ouch!!
Yeah, that was surprising to me. I knew it would do well, but I didn’t think it would go through it completely. That would be absolutely insane. Yeah string slap is never fun. I thought I’d be fine, but I just don’t have that one dialed in perfectly yet

A Bear 55# breakdown bow with arrows in an open bow quiver. While moving over and across some thick brush, an arrow popped out of the bow quiver. It landed just ahead of me knock down. As I continued to move forward I felt a slight "stick" in the lower quad just above my right knee. I figured I just got poked by stiff brush. Then my leg felt wet. Looking down it was not from dew on the brush and leaves. It was blood. My blood!😳 That Bear Razor-head was stuck in my leg above the knee. I didn't panic, but knew I needed to fix this fast. Always carried a med kit. Drew the skin tight and put butterfly closures across the 3/4" cut that punctured in about an inch. Wrapped the wound and got to my truck and then to the ER. The trauma surgeon on duty complemented my field dressing and said "This was done by an arrow? Who shot you?". I replied I guess in a way I did.". And told how it happened. He stitched it up, and smiling said "You might find something better to carry your arrows in the future. What you used suckes." I couldn't have agreed more.😂 Ya know, I barely felt a thing. My broadheads were scapula sharp. And when anti-hunting types cried out about how painful and cruel bow hunting was, I'd say let me tell you a story. 😏

I get the impression for you, cosplay is putting on contemporary clothes and pretending you're not a medieval archer.
Well, most large animals can endure small bullets so the bone catching the arrow adds up. As for the hammer test, there's some bias for the target being pinned in place - could happen, but its more common for something to be knocked away at impact and take energy out of the swing. Bone seems to have broken at the puncture point, so there's that too. At some point get a two handed mace and a friend with a buggy for a test. A popular anti armor strategy in asia was to swing a long handled mace from a charging horse - I think either the mongols or turks pioneered it. Breaking an armored foes neck was apparently the next best thing vs heavy armor after the lance broke or got stuck.
Yeah, I feel like the aero test is relatively accurate. Overall the Warhammer one was definitely not a great perfect analog. Whether someone would take the hits in that way is very debatable and I don’t think it would work quite like that.

Hey Dash, I just saw a Video by Brandon Herrera in which he tested how bulletproof a Cybertruck door really was (it failed at a 44 Magnum). I think testing that with a bow could be a fun Video.
I did miss this one (sorry Ranger, you are in fact my favorite). But here I am! And Dash, 'Cringe Cosplayer' is only a term jealous people use because they are not confident enough to do the things they WANT to do because they're either still ACTUALLY in high school or their minds are still trapped there with the mean girls. This is incredible.
So, blunt damage certainly seems the way to go! Damn scary what that warhammer could do through the mail... These bones going to be a new analogue for you? Certainly have that visceral feedback on impact!
@dashrendar5320 I imagine a darn sight cheaper, too! Maybe a test to see how many can be chopped/smashed through at once? Grond Vs Smashy Stick perhaps?
Kinetic energy does not forgive or play lay nice. Those hits and results looked pretty much right on. the human skin and muscle would offer some resistance but not anything that would stop a long bow arrow or that much force impact.
when you hit that bone with the hammer, it didn't 'snap'. i feel like we need to take note that it fcking shattered. that's a life altering difference right there

cow bones are too tough compared to human bones. i've seen tests run with i think sheep bones (or was it lamb 🤔) standing in for human bones. well, at least the femur is simmilar enough by all accounts.
The Problem with this and the other Test is that the Plate part you use is pushed on the edges to the bone and that is shattering the Bone. But in reality they wouldn`t be isolated they would be interloced with other plates so you have an even distribution of force. I don`t think you Warhammer Swing would neccecarily break a real Arm of a real men at arms with full plate armour.
I'd wear the "cringe cosplayer" as a badge of honor, maybe even find a way to make it into a new character with some kind of rank tab showing the sub count as it goes up just to troll lol. Also, I used to be a fast guy, until I took a ruck to the knee(s). 😆

@@dashrendar5320 ah didn't know that, thanks for letting me know. I like the video, glad to see you pursuit what you love doing and educating us with real animal bone. Thank you.
ooof yeah string slaps hurt enough with my 35lbs and 40lbs bows id hate to know what that felt like ouch
Haha yeah that was unpleasant 😂
Hey Dash, I just saw a Video by Brandon Herrera in which he tested how bulletproof a Cybertruck door really was (it failed at a 44 Magnum). I think testing that with a bow could be a fun Video.
Man I would LOVE to do that that’s a very big budget test 😂
@dashrendar5320 well, of course in the test they did not shoot up an entire Truck. They just used a spare door.
I think they may be a good analogy. Better than ballistic dummies in my opinion. I don’t think those things are as tough as actual bone
@dashrendar5320 I imagine a darn sight cheaper, too! Maybe a test to see how many can be chopped/smashed through at once? Grond Vs Smashy Stick perhaps?
Yeah I am thinking of using rivited mail and stuff like that
Kinetic energy does not forgive or play lay nice. Those hits and results looked pretty much right on. the human skin and muscle would offer some resistance but not anything that would stop a long bow arrow or that much force impact.
Yeah, I would think so. It would be pretty analogous the muscle skin and fat would not do much.
👍👍👍👍
💪🏹
Here to give Ranger some love. Sir Gains may be more popular (I did vote for him too, sorry) but Ranger has style!
when you hit that bone with the hammer, it didn't 'snap'. i feel like we need to take note that it fcking shattered. that's a life altering difference right there
Hahaha that’s true
@Dash Rendar a weird cosplayer/LARPer?? No way!! I would have never guess he was a NERD!!
Says the former LARPer and current Historical European Martial Art (HEMA) person. Lol
Honestly nothing wrong with having fun and being silly. And you make money doing that! Living the dream, man.
Hahahaha I know, right! For sure, though nerd life is the best life
I had no idea you triple twins!
Hahaha
You always make me laugh😂👍
Always happy to hear it my friend
Not gonna lie ... that first arrow that struck the bone *instantly* made me wince! Ooooooh!
_Then_ you slapped your arm .... *double* Ooooh! Man! You are suffering for your art!! 😕😱
Also, that ending with your son is super cool! 😎 Props for leaving that in!!✌
Yeah that stick into the bone way NASTY! The slap was for sure not fun
Haha yeah he was running around the back with me that day
I did archery for high school sports one semester. They did not provide a guard, or even much instruction. Most painful sport ever - and I’ve been doing Kyokushin for years now, no contest.
Less concerned with bone damage.
An arrow to the knee can be fatal. The femoral artery doesn't end above the knee, it passes through it.
Ah very true. Gonna be bad no matter what for sure but that’s a good point
Please stay that cringe cosplayer we love and cherish... and you're probably the ONLY cosplayer I'd choose to be side by side in a real battle ;)
Oh don’t you worry about that haha: I am committed to the nerd life 1000%
Where can i get a shirt like sexyranger001?
I actually got it off Amazon I think I just googled like sleeveless pirate shirt haha
Is Trolo half correct about everything Norse because the other half is Irish or something?
Haha he is right whenever the script deems it 😂
Bruh need a vambrace
Haha yeah could not find my arm guard for this video
pfffffff, Elder Scrolls 6 will release when George "I stole the RR" Martin finishes Winds of Winter.
Hahahaha I know right
Man, they're going to be racing Half-Life 3 and Star Citizen for the finish!
Yeah arm guards this is the way
Haha indeed they are
@@dashrendar5320 I have had several welts that I don't want to talk about I should have known. I did know , but only a 50 # I have serious respect for the War bow. I imagin it hurts way more.
What about a Bear??
Dunno it could work I am sure but i would probably never try it in real life😂
cow bones are too tough compared to human bones. i've seen tests run with i think sheep bones (or was it lamb 🤔) standing in for human bones. well, at least the femur is simmilar enough by all accounts.
Oh for sure they are ticket and more robust. But let’s say it can do it to an orc for sure
Potentially a lot.
Yes yes…that is correct
That would be hilarious hahaha and that’s a great idea actually 😂 ah yes training with heavy packs is a great way to no longer be fast
It's obviously not a custom from the viking age.. vikings don't kneel. 😏
Haha till VALHALLA!!
lol
You obviously don't have chickens. My chickens would have devoured that watermelon by the next day (if you shot over two days). My chickens free range in addition to layer feed. They would love grazing your yard for bugs (I have 3/4 acre with six chickens). I hate buying commercial eggs when my ladies don't lay Nov-Jan, since their free ranging eggs put commercial to shame - no comparison on taste or color. DUDE! With a yard like that, GET YE SOME CHICKENS!
I actually have like 15 chickens, but I have them in a pin because there’s so many coyotes around where I live they get devoured haha so they got a nice set up, but they don’t go out much
@@dashrendar5320 I have coyotes, raccoons and foxes, which is why I lock them up at night. But even a skunk will get in and steal eggs once in a while. Grubbies (soldier fly larva) are like crack for my chickens.
Are you allowed to despatch coyotes and or raccoons with medieval weaponry🤔
@Mick-1415 If they are attacking your pets (I consider chickens to be my pet since pets don't require a fee with the county, but livestock do), then you can defend your pets.
@@elizabethstump4077 stop it, I getting images of rural Americans doing pest control in armour etc 🤣👍
I'll do you one better, take the US Army's PT program in the 2000s to the knee.
Hahahahaha
You damn beautifuly devastating cringe cosplayer...
Hahaha aww thank you
Did you get married
Haha get married? I have actually been married for 15 years.
Cringe cosplayer? Lol those people have probably never used any medieval weaponry. Smells like jealousy to me hahaha.
Hahaha who knows but far more angry people came around during that last video 😂
@dashrendar5320 Yikes! Totally unwarranted.
Am I wrong or did you fully draw that 160lb this time? That's a lot of work! Awesome shit my dude; I'm inspired!
Love what you do brother. Your characters are hilarious.
Yeah I got that one down pretty solid I feel at this point. Thanks so much by the way! Truly appreciated and so glad you enjoy the characters
@dashrendar5320 Nice that didn't take long! Accuracy is up there..I was wondering if you'd even hit the bone so great shooting btw. And ouch! No wonder all those adventurers retired!
Hey mate! IG is being screwy so...I'll have to figure out another way to contact you.
Shoot well my email is garishandgains@gmail.com (Instagram hates me haha. I am constantly getting warned by them for my stuff,
I could probably just give you mine
That’s cool as well my dude
@@dashrendar5320 Apparently RUclips doesn't like me sharing my email. 😂
Tried to email ye, but it kept sending back saying invalid address. Am I missing something, mate?
Again, you prove that leg meta is the only meta. Remember, folks, keep your PKs up as that's the only way to run on a blacked leg.
