I booted up my PS2 after finishing GTA V story recently to go back and relive San Andreas. I think what shocked me the most, besides the objectively better radio, was how gritty the story and gameplay can be despite everything looking like Lego. One of the first missions discusses the crack epidemic, and see’s you killing a crack dealer. They deal with Prison Rape, and OG LOC trying to remain tough while hunting down his rapist. Hell if you don’t play the story, little details like killing someone and waking around them gives you bloody footprints. Despite GTA V having better visual fidelity, San Andreas actually puts you in the shoes of CJ and his crime sprees.
Yea the graphics and all that doesnt matter when the game is so immersive that you forget bout them. Thats what i miss about games back in the day, they did so much more for gameplay rather than focusing on making it look like a movie and needing a 500dollar console or 2k pc to run it haha
Going into negative balance was also a planned feature for Grand Theft Auto Vice City. It was going to be framed around Tommy buying Sunshine Autos and then inheriting the owner's debt. It was going to be very similar to San Andreas where the player gets threatening phone calls and eventually assassins attack. We don't exactly know how it was going to be implemented or why it was cut, but they clearly liked the idea given it was finally implemented in San Andreas

In the original PS2 version you could customize golf carts, lawnmowers and couple other utility vehicles with paint, rims, hydraulics and nitrous. In the Greatest Hits version, they patched this.
@@automation7295 If you actually owned or could find a copy manufactured in 2004, you'd find out what I'm saying is 1000% true. In the Greatest Hits version, they patched this and a few other things. The original game had quite a few bugs. Take the mission with Madd Dogg trying to jump off the building for example. When i played, i only knew about the Ryder leaving you at the burglary mission because it was easy to fail the noice level; that you can destroy the cash registers- i think alot of us tried to punch them, and about the helicopter spotlight
I love how silly and ridiculous this game was. That thing with ghost cars rolling down the hill was wild. I remember watching the camera guy walk into the sea and I swam after him to see wtf was going on.
Man at age 30 after decades of me playing this game over and over, there is still a few new things I learn everyday… thought I knew it all. I had no idea the voice of Franklin did a characters voice in San Andreas! I know him and Young Malay are cousins though, very cool
Franklin's aunt Denise in GTA 5 is the same Denise as CJ's girlfriend. CJ left gang life to settle down, leaving her stuck in the ghetto, which would explain her mistrust of men and her reluctance towards Franklin trying to leave gang life.
