I can't wait to see the guitar versions of this. I gave my sister a NSD violin with that tuner system a few years ago, and it didn't need to be tuned AT ALL for over a year. These virtually hold tuning forever.
I can't wait to get this bass. Already talked to my local dealer. I had a Steinberger Q4 for 15 years from '90 to '05. Served me extremely well playing professionally for 6 years. They are hands-down just remarkable instruments. The graphite-composite neck never budged a micron in 15 years. Stayed in perfect tune after being left unplayed for any number of months.
Perfectly balanced on your body when standing. You could lift your hands up, jump up and down, and the neck wouldn't slip downward (like all other "headed" basses in the world). Sound engineers and other musicians, both live and studio, would compliment me on how great the signal was from the active EMG's. Quality and sensible desgn, top to bottom. The Q4, and this new CR5, are worth every penny and then some. I envisioned this bass being much more than $3,600. I was astonished it was that low.
Sounds great. The attack is superb. Clear harmonic oscillation on the sustain as well. A nice fat line would been nice to hear, but it is very impressive. Innovative
I really would like to get 4 string version but I think, that NS will make only Radius with uneven number of strings. It's a thing of head symetry and sterile design which is perfect in those presented ones
It looks to me like the bridge has two alan-bolts/screws, one on either side. I'd guess that you can loosen them to slide the bridge forward or backward.
That's an NS Omni Bass. It's an upright in a bass guitar 34 inch scale. Since it's so close to a bass guitar, it's only natural it should come with a fretted option.
Then, you would need strings that are exactly the same, with metal of the very same density, imperfection and tension. If you want me to be honest, by posting this comment, I was expecting a guitar maker to read it and reply.
Oh dude... it's ok to cry about not being capable of playing stuff like this, but no reason to flame a guy for being a soloist. That's what HE does on a bass, and... I think a lot of people who are going to check out an instrument like this are in that crowd.
Ned Steinberger has the Midas touch of bass design/making!! I wish that the bassist on this would have played something instead of all that hyperphonics nonsensical noodling stuff.
Ned, i love you bro and i have spent thousands of dollars, on your basses. but Ted that kid sucks on the Bass Guitar, As a Demo player and why are you still letting this kid try to demo a NS ?? just being honest Ned and i know a thing or two about STEINBERGER got my first XL-1 serial #0086 in 1981.....and one more XL-1 and a XL-2 And a SYNAPSE and than a
Robinson Aquino feel free to do the same. If you want to be stupid enough to spend almost 3 grand on a bass that doesn't perform then be my guest. And I can voice my opinion any time I like little butt hurt snowflake.
Mr. Ned Steinberger is untouchable. I just got a NS Design WAV4 electric bass, and it is something out of this world.

He said they will be offering this in a guitar version as well... can't wait!

Can't wait to see what the guitar is gonna look like!

WOW this instrument sounds as great as it looks. Would love to pick one of these up someday!

Ned Steinberger is such a genius when it comes to instrument designs.
the quick string change feature is great.
I'm really digging that bridge!
Awesome bass. Great demo.
This is the bass everyone was talking about? That is the best bass in the world!
Nice demo guys. Sweet instrument..!
musicians need such innovations!
That looks metal as. Love it!

Ik this is a new design but I rly wish there was more material on this instrument available.
Strings also have an effect on the intonation. Not just the neck.
Saw those. But if you move the bridge, you change the intonation for all the strings.
May as well have had victor wooten explain the bass. This guy played all his material...
and less cause he cant slap
amazing!!!!
Probably irrelevant for a fretless, but on the fretted version; How do you adjust the intonation?
looks like good ! nice video !
Did Ned say that they will be offering a guitar? That's great news :D
My guess is you can adjust the sides of the saddle forward and back but since the bridge saddle is one piece you can't do much else.
@the1trueporkchop i actualy own a steinberger, is an amazing bass, a spirit 5 string left handed, really nice sound
The sound of this bass is horrifically uninteresting. On the plus side this bass is beautiful and the tuner mechanism is genius.
sounds beautiful.. wish it had a headstock though...
You sure do, don't you?
Ned you are a the best.
would have been nice to hear something below the tenth fret...
You don't have to beacause the neck just doesn't move. It's pretty much the same as the vigier necks.
Probably fixed intonation, much like the PRS guitars with only the stoptail on it.
That is MSRP. I'd look at the other NS design things for MSRP to street price.
my guess is it's built to be perfectly intonated and once it's put in place it would be hard for it to go out
Good instrument, and Mr. S is brilliant, but a really poor demo of tones. The zZounds Music demo of this bass is far better.
Steinberger = genius

ok calm down man I was just offering a hypothesis

Big Fat Tight Punch &Huge Low End Power.
DAT sOuND!
With the carbon fiber reinforced neck, the intonation should be set out of the box.
anyone else hear bohemian rhapsody in the background? especially around five minutes.
A curved body?! Who would have ever thought of that!
6:53
Maybe it's so stable you don't have to.

Compensated saddle. It is irrelevant on a fretless though.
pretty sure this guy has no idea who victor wooten is......
the sound doesnt stand out. Looks nice though.
Обля )))
А че Малахов на английском заговорил? 😂😂😂
A bass designed for fat guys!

The Bassman plays great but talk to much!
is that a fretted upright in the back? gross.
I wish he'd play some regular fucking bass lines. who the fuck sweeps everything? just walk a fucking line. jeeeeez
Manboob....
The bass is crap! Do not buy it!!! Was the biggest disappointment I've had.
swub3874 oh stfu! let other ppl have the pleasure to have alternative choices rather than hearing your lame opinion
Robinson Aquino feel free to do the same. If you want to be stupid enough to spend almost 3 grand on a bass that doesn't perform then be my guest. And I can voice my opinion any time I like little butt hurt snowflake.
minority opinion
david p well it's still my opinion.
well you know what they say about opinions...
