Funfact the other tank called the Ferdinand had the Porsche hull which was supposed to be used as a tank destroyer but the crew would go in as an assault gun which was terrible move since it had no machine gun that could protect itslef from infantry.
I wish people talked more about the *original* Henschel prototype Tiger, it was originally supposed to have a turret that resembled the Panther's (that design would be refined and later used on the Panther) and a long 75mm gun that was also later used on the Panther. After Henschel's prototype was accepted, the turret and gun were replaced by the Porsche's prototype, becoming the finalized Tiger tank. Edit: In case someone is curious to know how it looked like, look for World of Tanks's stock Tiger 1, it has the same turret and gun as the Henschel's prototype, in fact it's the only game that has the original Henschel Tiger prototype.
VK 36.01 H is a testbed that eventually became Tiger I and iirc, the Tiger turret with the 88 is a Krupp design but still, interesting that the goofy ahh stock turret on WoT's Tiger I is actually the prototype turret for it
There was two tigers competed by porches both became command vehicles and I believe both were lost in the field. I think one to enemy fire and the other to being scuttled
Depends though. In terms of cross-country capability, the Henschel design was superior. In terms of maintenance and repair, the Porsche design was superior
I can not agree that Henshel created this iconic tank. Hull of Henshel Tiger and Turret of Porsche Tiger was taken and by that they created Tiger 1, so Henshel did not create Tiger 1 on 100% by themselves, Porsche had big influent on this miracle of military too
As another fun fact, in 90% of cases Henschel won by massive margins. Porsche relied on his connections to Hitler for his designs being accepted. Overall Porsche tanks were just worse than Henschel, as they chose the worse aspects of the prebuilt parts made by Krupp (the different turret on the Tiger 1P and the prototype turret on the Tiger II). This ultimately culminates in him pre-ordering chassis that didn’t win, forcing Germany to create incredibly mediocre vehicles that most German crews didn’t like. Try going from a nice and comfy STuG to whatever the Ferdinand was
The Porsche Tiger used the dual transmission setup the Porsche cars used. Unfortunately the weight of the tank was to much for the transmissions the tank caught fire from inside and almost killed the testing crew.
About 90 Ferdinands were made and about 10 tiger p were fully made, I think they were used for training if I remember correctly but I do know 1 saw combat as a command tank for a Ferdinand unit. Also you may have heard of the other tiger but do you know about the proto tigers.
That's the Tiger P version and it was after the Tiger I this tank is lighter and more cheaper than the Tiger I and it was made to help Germany save money and materials after they started getting overpowered by the alias
Failed engine and drive train system (which was understandable considering that it was unorthodox for tank designs), and generally the fact that it has worse manueverability than the Henschel's design

They're essentially the same armored vehicle, just renamed and one has a hull MG
As well as being a casemate, id imagine the Ferdinand and elegant were terribly equipped for assault lol

If I remember correctly, during the testing, the Porsche's tank caught fire, so that was another reason to select the Henschel's project.
Yea the electric system blew the engine
The 1 tiger P, was actually used in combat.
The Porsche tank would actually see action. Until it got taken out and now we don’t know where it is, sadly. I would love to see it in a museum

Not gonna lie I like the tiger that Porsche made more than the one that the other one made
Yeah my favorite Tiger
yes, I remember about this tank
in my opinione if the tiger p won the war would of been very bad for the allies ( better armor mobility can revers full speed etc...)
It has a dual electric-disel engine that had worst reliabilith issues then late war tanks
And its armor was no better than the Henschel's design, neiter are the mobility (which was one of the reason why it was rejected)

Can you do a video talking about the Panzer IV Hydrostat?
The other Tiger tank's name is the Tiger (P)
Tiger (P) is one of my favorite tanks of WW2 sad that it was never Massed produced like Porsche was hoping
All tanks are made in competition 🤣
They give companies the basics of what they want, the companies make it and then they select whichever is better.
Inspired by Girls Und Panzer..
Not all agreed, right..??
What’s the point of the corners of the hull being at a 45 degree angle? The tiger can’t angle if they do that.
