Thank you for the quick turnaround with your race recap and insights from the race within. Also the nice moving pictures showing all those sections of track. What a race this was. And what awesome conditions. What could you whish more? Wait the rain out in a nice hotel and then start in a nice, sunny and warm Atlas? Can't really get any better. :) Congrats on your own race, as well! :)

Great coverage and well done. I'm looking to do the route myself outside of the race sometime and all this is really useful and The little vids are great to watch.

    Thanks Josh.
Other than ride it myself, what more could i hope for than getting the full overview from a rider at your level. I love your unique approach to quide us through the dot watching (which I did a fair bit in real time) but with the visuals and a racers context. Top work.
Looking forward to the other videos.
    Few questions for your Q&A
    1) do you ever feel you want to go back to these places and ride them at a more relaxed pace and during daylight so you get to see it all? Or is the racing more what it’s about.
I love the scenery so I often think this for all ultra-races where you’re riding through so much at night.
    2) was following molly weaver struggling and feeling ill. At CP2 she basically said she’s got no better way of getting to the end than pushing on on her bike. To what extent do the organisers look after you in this kind of event? I know it’s self-supported but if the shot hits the fan is someone coming to rescue you? Can you use the SOS on your spot? Curious how this affects riders mentally.
    3) The better riders are sponsored but many doing it under their own steam. To what extent do sponsors help you with logistics - getting to the event country, accommodation, kit lists. Or do you have other people that can help? It maybe you do it all yourself? Curious as there’s a fair bit involved.
Very understated about what was such a great performance btw.

Amazing effort, Josh to come 8th place.
I’m doing in 2025 and have a Giant Revolt X Advanced Pro with 45mm tyres and front suspension (40mm)
Do you think this will be ok as you mention it could be done on a hardtail, which this bike is but with drops 😀?

    • @joshibbett
      @joshibbett  7 месяцев назад +2

You could get round on the Revolt… but you’d spend most of the time wishing you had a mtb hard tail and you’d probably get a lot of punctures

    Q) Food / hygiene
Guess you’re going to be eating very local, in non touristy places and with bacteria etc you’re not used to. just like when any of us travel except we’re not in a race. Is it something you’re conscious of as I guess stomach upsets or food poisoning and it’s game over.

    • @joshibbett

I’ll do a separate q and a video and answer in depth there.

Can’t be too tough on the authorities it’s not going to be their highest priority for good reason.
