There are things Jaco played that just be matched today! At the time he came,No one played bass like that! He Started it! He was lightyears ahead! One thing that differ him from many of todays bassists is that he had Technique And Feel! Many bassists today lack the latter!
he cover Jimi Hendrix, i love this video so much, used distortion nicely, i love his playing, harmonics along with his manic bass notes, totally heave y cool beat. love this.

we don't care if he was ill or not. He created The modern way of playing at only 20... He connected everything: what he plays, how he plays, where and when he plays.. Even in trouble, he can play always the same riffs scale, stop play on stage, we always learn , ear and feel something from him. Why do you think so many great players from all styles always refer to him...and not only "bass players"...but.. musicians.
I love the man's music and when he was with Weather Report, but I hate these standalone solos. He has about twenty different riffs, and he just plays those same riffs all the time. Look at the amount of time he spends dicking around, not playing anything.
