Fun fact: When you blare Jeremy Dutcher's music, the ancestors shine down upon us and smile with a sprinkling of happy tears.
I am not Indian. I find this music magical and Jeremy is deeply talented and most awesome. He is physically beautiful to the eyes. His singing these songs brings me to my higher power!!!!
I had not heard of this artist until now. He sounds very good. I'm trying to reconcile and understand part of my heritage. My grandfather was Malecite in part...when I was born, he took a good look at me and said: "You can't hide the truth from god." or in French:"On peut pas cacher la vérité à dieu." Rest in peace Pepe.
From my people, my band. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hauntingly beautiful. All new for me. This Man knows how to use his voice. Thanks to everybody involved creating this. Goosebumps.
Cheers! Thanks for checking it out!

Magical. I am so glad I found his music, even though I don't understand a word, it resonates with me and moves me.
Let us honour the people that we are
My people, let us come together
Let us honour our ancestry, our bloodlines
My people, let us help one another
Let us help one another in the manner that the Creator has placed us here upon Mother Earth
Words aren't necessary to feel its power or to feel its beauty. It is something to be *witnessed*.
As an aboriginal Australian this song hits different. The skill and connection is amazing thank you Jeremy.
Brings me tears... how beautiful it is to listen to revitalizing languages. I heard of you through an Elder at a work meeting here at UBC. I hope to relay this song in future meetings.
Yes, keeping languages alive through music is important work!
I have always loved this song since hearing it as a gift from some Mi'kmaw brothers and sisters traveling through Tennessee sang it as to honor our Ayuni Grandma Dunn for hosting a sweat and feast for them.
Beautiful Thank you. So Important to hear our Indigenous languages.
How hauntingly sweet and beautiful...ancestors are joyful.
Is it normal that I forget to breathe for a sec when I hear him sing that first note? Just curious.
- I can never get over the beauty and strength of this chant .. this singing + piano playing.
Primal, visceral, blood-stirring. Beyond beautiful.
This is the farthest thing from primal....blood stirring....visceral. This is apple music.
Beautiful!!!! So moving! Prayer like.
I just cant stop coming back to that song.....love your voice....je ne comprend pas ta langue mais je suis touché par ton interprétation. Merci
Great song that immediately enticed me to get my base and medium hand drums out to add my deep, heartfelt, and soulful accompaniment to the powerful conviction, strength and tenor of Jeremy’s voice and mix of a vibrant accent of a piano enabling me to close my eyes and join in with my own indigenous expressions of rhythms, whatever, whenever, and wherever they may allow me to just-be and to radiate my nature in absolute awe.
Thank you to my friend Arlene for the share.
So beautiful. Love my heritage 🖤❤️🤍💛
So happy for you Jeremy! You and Johnathan were always so talented. It's lovely to see how much you've blossomed. Your parents must be so proud 💗
MIgwetch to both Jeremy and to Elder George Paul
The ancestors are dancing with joy!
I remember back in 1991 when George Paul taught this song he wrote to me and several others over the course of a few days. This of course was the beginning of the Eastern Eagle Singers drum group. Always remember that time.
unbelievable
Wow this sounds beautiful. I wish I new the translation.
It is a song about honouring native heritage.
Jeremy sings the Honour Song beautifully.

He is simply captivating.
A song to ease our hearts
Wow, in the only sweat lodge I ever was in, I learned that song, the one with the way a ways. I can still sing it now, nearly 30 years later. The elder told us never to sing it to others, that it was only to be sung in a sweat.
I'm sorry you were given information that isn't the way. The creator of this song wants it sung far and wide. He never once said that it was only to be heard in sweatlodge. The original songwriter goes far and wide to sing it loud and proud. He encourages all people wanting to connect to sing this with their every heart's desire. This is the truth because I heard it straight from his mouth to my ears. Sing it loud and sing it proud. Not to diminish in any way what the lodge-keeper was trying to convey, he was doing all he could to protect the sacredness of this song. It's the Honour song of the Mikmaq people but since has been adopted from nation to nation so that we can all heal and live with Honour. I understand the protection mode. He respects is so much as should everyone.
Beautiful...can't listen to it enough.
What language is this..thought it is supposed to be mikmaq ..
tee cloud he sung in Maliseet instead I think
tee cloud i was wondering the same thing...it aint the words i know...
I was told he is singing in Passamaquoddy. The Passamaquoddy people are distant cousins of the Mik'maq
@@lmh1999 Is anyone able to confirm the language spoken?
He is singing in Wolastoqey
What an incredibly emotive voice! 🙏
