This week I talk about The Chicago Theme Hubert Laws recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's Studio in New Jersey in 1974 and released in 1975 on the CTI label.
The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow awarded the album 3 stars, stating "Rather than performing with a small group, as he did on his best sessions, Laws is joined by strings and funky rhythm sections playing now-dated commercial grooves... The only reason to acquire this out of print LP is for Laws' still-superb flute playing".
It is a great 70s vibe album, you should have a listen to! Наука
i love the cti records from the 70’s, it was easy listening, so i could do my studies at home 🇳🇱
👍👍
Yes CT I was a big thing back in the early 70s I know a lot of people accuse it of being small smalti sometimes.... I bought the first hundred releases and still have them some of the greatest musicians were on that label they were a product of their time ,,but you can't deny the music sounded good was recorded very well and Rudy van gelder of course was on a lot of the early recordings especially liked all the Freddie Hubbard and of course my favorite are the Joe Farrell albums on CTI... Nadine you did fail to mention the laughable nowadays anyway reference to available in 8-track tape also..... great video great Channel... and remember Pete Turner did the photographs for a lot of the CTI releases....fantastic photography.
