Ray Mercer was in some great fights!!!!
Diamiani was a classy boxer, enjoyed watching how he controlled the range. As for Mercer he was getting absolutely schooled... Holmes must have fancied his chances after watching this fight.

Damiani looked unathletic yet he was a good boxer and contender, credit to Mercer he found a way to win.

was watching a Gerry Cooney fight. Same look, same mannerisms,
same stance. Uncanny.

Damian was at least 4 points ahead but a punch can change everything and Mercer was powerful.

I'll never understand why Damiani bailed out of the Holyfield fight over a bad ankle. Probably the biggest purse of his career and nobody expected him to win anyway. But it made the Cooper fight, so it all worked out, that one was fun.

If there iwill be a power puncher that fights like Damiani, no one will can beat him in the world until his retirement, Damiani fight here was perfect, he is just not Earnie Shavers as a puncher. For example take a power puncher like Foreman in his prime fighting like Damiani.... Damiani just conect many punches and take range controlled

This fight was to set up Damiani was supposed to win then he would of fight Snipes then Snipes would of won for a payday with Tyson and the Mafia!

I just watched Sammy The Bull talk about this fight! The Mafia got screwed by Mercer winning this fight! The Italian fighter was suppose to have won this fight so he could lose his title in his next fight to a mob backed fighter then their fighter could get a shot at Tyson!
Sammy said they never thought to payoff Mercer because they thought he'd be an easy win! He also said the FBI knew of the plan & if their plans would've worked they would've been caught!
@MosleyBoxing lol, Once you know the real story this fight becomes interesting! I don't see why they thought Mercer was going to lose to him, he sucked! They should've payed off Mercer from the beginning!
Damn I think you guys beat me by 2 hours!!!!!! I do remember this upset but knowing what was behind it incredible!!!!! three more rounds and Sammy the bull and John Gotti would have had a piece of heavyweight boxing history that would have been huge noise back in the day

Nobody ever thought Mercer was going to be an easy opponent for Damiani. Most thought he would win.
@@johnulmer1622 The Mob had set this up because it's what the guys back in the old country wanted . They wanted Him to fight Tyson. But they had to build some buzz first and give him a path.. so they chose mercer.. They didn't chose Mercer because they thought he was going to lose to him! That's for damn sure. So obviously there was a miscalculation. Anyway. Thank you for being contrarian though. 🙄 I guess I should have prefaced the context of my comment.

Losing doesn't mean he already lost. You can always find a way to win.
Damiani was the better boxer, his nose lost the fight. If it went to the scoreboards he won every round. He didn’t have the greatest genetics either, Mercer had a much greater physique

Mii se ha perso com una mezza cartuccia figuriamoci un incontro con tyson al 100% a 20 secondi dal primo round se lo avrebbero portato cin la barella..e un mediocre pugile anche goffo nei movimenti come un sacco di patate gli mancava velocita e soprattutto cattiveria che i. Questo sport ci vuole e cmq doti che lui non aveva,,certamente combatteva ma inadatto a livelli di mondiale da competere con i top tyson, Holyfield , lewis, , ma con pugili mediocri del suo livello forse aveva qualche chance di vincere....
