    "I have many names." Really sums up Sauron, he's taken so many different forms and identities that he doesn't even know his true name anymore. Galadriel's line in The Hobbit "You are nameless, faceless and formless." Really rings true in this scene.

      @@rohilnagar6991 I think that he was speaking partly by reflecting himself. Celebrimbor himself was too obsessed to create something magneficent and it blinded him the danger his kingdom was facing. The same way Sauron became obsessed to posses all the rings and create something that would bind them together. And in his eagerness he transfered a lot of his powers to the one ring. This lead him first to fall to the last alliance and then to Frodo. So in summary rings became his obsessio and this obsession destroyed him.
      Imagine if Sauron would not have created the one ring. He would have still a lot of power during the third age.Not perhaps Nazguls but he would have more options to plan his conquest. But no, during the third age he could only rely his underlings to do his will.

      In Tolkiens lore Elves in particular get a vision of the future at the time of death…so no he may not have seen Frodo himself he absolutely saw that one ring would end up being Sauron’s demise…thats why he got so emotional after he said that and impaled him

    This interaction gives Hurin and Morgoth vibes:
    "This last I say to you, thrall Morgoth," said Hurin, "and it comes not from the lore of the Eldar, but is put into my heart this hour. You are not the Lord of Men, and shall not be, though all Arda and Menel fall in your dominion. Beyond the Circles of the World you shall not pursue those who refuse you."
    "Beyond the Circles of the World I will not pursue them," said Morgoth. "For beyond the Circles of the World there is Nothing. But within them they shall not escape me, until they enter into Nothing."
    "You lie," said Hurin.
    "You shall see and you shall confess that I do not lie," said Morgoth.

    Sauron created the rings, including the One, as a swift and efficient way to dominate Middle Earth. It externalized and amplified his power, but also made him completely dependent upon it. Tolkien says even Sauron could not have brought harm upon or undone the One Ring. His undoing was his need for perfection and efficiency.

    • @gezenews
      @gezenews 2 месяца назад +3

      Sauron doesn't lose because of the ring and he didn't do it for a need of perfection. He needs it for power. He should pretty much be near death this entire age. It's the ring that makes him as powerful as he becomes. The ring that keeps him alive through the 3rd age, and the ring WINS. The ring beats frodo and by extension would beat just about everyone else. 99.99% of that journey is inspired and motived by people wanting to destroy evil. If Sauron just accepted his fate at the end of 1st age he might've lived. So the problem is his goals from the beginning, this tech steal from Celebrimbor is an insane level up that can't be criticized too heavily considering his level of influence after that. Without it he fumbles around for a few centuries, weak as hell.

    Someone posted a while back this is where Mairon truly died. I thought about that for some time and truly I think that what they writers were going for through season 1 and 2? Showing how a villain progressively gets more evil over time? He said when Morgoth lost he began to feel the light of the one again. Probably a lie knowing him but lets say it was part true that Eru gave him a chance to come clean. Interesting thought.

      @@Loadedice1 That's not what's bad about the show though. The one aspect that I see brought up the most by haters is how Galadriel was made stupid, selfish and cruel and that she had a romantic story with Sauron. Has nothing to do with wokeness. Also the existence of harfoots as nothing more than a marketing strategy. And if we're talking about inaccuracies to the lore, there's a very long list of them that has nothing to do with a back elf existing,

    I would say this is the one time we see Mairon, in a moment of clarity, realizing what he's done to himself, but I can't say that. This is a corrupted Maiar grasping at a shadow. An uncertainty of a memory. And seeing that there is nothing, where there should have been something. "I have many names" is the last shred of kindness he can give himself. And what's equally expected is the orc's blank stare. Evil doesn't have a name. It's not one person. In this world it's a condition, and it never lets its victims breathe.

    • @lucabestea6844
      @lucabestea6844 2 месяца назад +7

      Imo, it means that Sauron, the new Dark Lord, is but a thrall and a pawn of the rings themselves. Which, in a sense, is true. Sauron's survival depended on the One Ring from the day he created it.

    • @coterie_black
      @coterie_black 2 месяца назад +4

      Not exactly... the title "Lord of the Rings" isn't intended as sarcasm.... but rather as a literal and symbolic reference to Saurons dominion and his method of control. Sauron crafted the One Ring....which is imbued with much of his own power to rule over the other Rings of Power. This gave him indirect control over the leaders of Elves, Dwarves, and Men who possessed these rings....thus extending his influence over much of Middle Earth.
      The title emphasizes both the literal aspect of his mastery over these powerful artifacts and the broader theme of domination and the corruption of power. It's a stark reminder of how Saurons influence is woven into the very fabric of the storys world.... affecting not just the ring bearers but the fate of all living in Middle Earth. So... while it might seem like he's just the lord of some rings...those rings represent a much larger scale of power and control.
