Minicoy island is the sothernmost island among the Lakshadweep group of islands.The culture and traditions here are different from the other islands of Lakshadweep.Minicoy has an area of 4.8 sq kms and a population of around 11000. Minicoy people speak a language known as Mahal,similar to the language Divehi of Maldives.

India govt has given millions of dollars to Maldives...but their people are against India....they run program India out... Every year thousands of Indian tourist go to Maldives... Spends lacks of rupees in their beach resorts... Where a water villa cost nearly 1 lakh per night even over in seasons.... What do we get from that? Instead of giving such aids we should develop our own resource in lakshadweep to help economy of our own..
