Trooper eliminated the threat in less than a minute once he exited his vehicle quickly and professionally. Yes it’s not a pretty sight, but it is what it is and the suspect is still alive.

Light and sirens, Verbal commands, 2x taser deployment, more verbal commands, 2 effective strikes to a noncompliant suspect, moves in for cuffing… ALONE.. all the while being approached by the public and having discovered the gun during cuffing. The trooper protected his life, possibly saved the assailants life (he’d have been shot if he presented that weapon), and protected the public by not allowing the situation to escalate to gunfire. Awesome job to the trooper. Good instinct and training makes a good arrest every time. I’d like to see what the nay sayers would do that kind of situation. My guess…retreat.

I’m totally OK with this. Trooper’s life was in danger. (Guy had a gun) Trooper used medium force to prevent an escalation to lethal force. If this were the L.A. Sheriff, they would have put 30 holes in him and everyone in L.A. would say it’s justified. Police work is sometimes not pretty. This trooper is to be commended for his bravery and use of non lethal force.

In my own life I want nothing to do with them because of that justified , well-earned skepticism and I've never had more than a parking ticket 20 yrs ago . I don't hold them as heroes by default. I think many of them are problematic. The video doesn't lie when they are in the wrong, nor does it lie when they are right. I don't see anything wrong here. He was doing his job and I don't see excessive force. What I see is the rare occasion of a physically fit cop who was able to pursue and catch up to a fleeing suspect and take him down non-lethally.
