- Laila Majnu is a 2018 Bollywood movie, a modern day take on the classic Arab folklore of Laila Majnu. Directed by Sajid Ali, screenplay written by Imtiaz Ali, it is a love story set in modern day Kashmir which is full of love, romance, innocence and tragedy. It flopped at the time of the release but definitely deserves a second chance.
It contains beautiful performances by Avinash Tiwary and Tripti Dimri alongwith the heartwarming songs and serene cinematography.

Oooohhhh myyyy goshhhh😫😫😫finally someone is talking about this Film.This Film is beautifully directed...yaeh they miss to established a relationship between characters like bond between laila n qaish was missing initially bt overall i love the movie all because of Avinash Tiwari...He is a gem. His acting,dialogue delivery..n most important his is voice everything is just amazing.I literally cried while watching.❤❤❤💟💟💟
I cried throughout the second half because of Avinash’s portrayal of Majnu 😭 he is sooooo underrated

This movie might be a box office flop but wait till it gets a cult following. It already has impressed many souls. However for people who are to rational, too practical, too brainy and less hearty may not like it simply because they don't believe in unconditional, self destructive, sacrificing love. But for people who value love, it's a gem. One of the Most beautiful film I've watched.

One of the favorites in my movies list. Literally I cried that time in 2018 after watching this, aur us waqt dekhne k bad socha tha ki ab isey dobara nahin dekhunga😔it's soothing music by maestro niladri ji🙏. I'm glad that Imtiaz Ali presented this beautiful creation to us because without of his vision of this narration i believe this would not have evolved into what it has become. Its nice to see that after a long time people are talking about this film. Just I wish that they would release this in theatres again❤

Weakest point was... Laila kept on saying " serious nhi hongi main" serious thodi h etc etc.. so yeah they were unable to show the emotional dept from laila ' s side.
I think it was the fault on both, the writing part and the acting (Tripti was a very new in the acting game back then). But yes, I agree with you, there was no emotional depth from Laila’s side

My opinion: badhi story thi but Kum time me dekhani thi bahut sari cheeze hai jo ki show krni thi Laila k efforts , thoda or show krna tha ki kaise Laila family pressure me shadi kr leti hai and uska love for her lover was very powerful. Ye toh mujhe dekha he nahi movie me ki Laila kitna pyaar krti hai matlab un dono ka pyaar bahut strong tha bahut show nahi kr py ye cheez screen iske Karan bo scene utna hit nahi kr pta jab Laila soul chor deti hai . Movie acche thi bs jaldi jaldi khatam krdi or viewers pe chor diya ki ha ye scene unko understood hai ya common sense hai ye toh but agar choti choti cheez emotions show krte toh bahut jada attract krti movie

Hi, Sukhnoor. Great video! I'm a writer myself and I wrote a short review on this film when it came out. Its in very simple words, and I have evolved as a writer since then. But, still it would be amazing if you could have a read 🥹
Here it goes:

The best thing about Laila Majnu is that it never made itself to be a drama, it always treated itself like a tragedy and gave the epic historical love saga it's deserved respect.
First half is okay-ish, but the writing in second part is brilliant, dialogues and conversations are cleverly laid into fine threads throughout the film which gives it more depth. Kashmir emerges as an important character to flesh out the romance and tragedy. The music is soulful and hits the right cord with it's narration. However the direction does show sometimes that it's the work of a rookie. Also, last 15 minutes were kind of overdone and streched.
The biggest asset alongside its screenwriting is its acting. Every actor is good but honestly Avinash Tiwary as Kais totally stole every moment, this is actually one of the best performance this year in Bollywood which will be overlooked, I believe. He literally took the whole movie on another level alone. This man is a born protagonist material being able to change his colour from a heavy voiced stalker to a total madman who's torn apart in love.
The film showed how the celibate love of Laila-Majnu gains new heights and was far beyond the dimensions of society. There is one scene which will hit you hard and summarise the whole film.
"la ilaha illa Allah laila" translated to
"there is no other deity but one god, Laila".
Their love was more spiritual than the fake egoistic society - which claims to have love in their prayers.

@@harshitha8854 if you remember the iconic dialogue, there's a in it which says, “saamne khadi hai phir bhi intezaar”, it means her presence and absence didn't created any difference, he still has to wait, but after her presence, it affected him the most. he moves to london for four years where he could never see her again because he knew she's happy and she's married by her own decision. he wanted to create distance between her and himself to avoid all the circumstances which could have caused in her presence. when his destiny finally let him meet his love again, same thing happens, he has to wait again for few months but unfortunately he lost himself. he couldn't communicate with her even when he could have is more painful than anything else for him. I couldn't elaborate it more specifically as it is more based on emotions and feelings rather than thoughts. hope you'll understand ❤
