Worked in cameras for a good time and studied and played with all sorts of cameras, I even bought myself the Canon r10 with the kit lens (18-45) shown. Here’s a tip, if you go with an apsc (r10 or r7 since the r100 and r50 are not worth it in my opinion) buy the 18-150 lens. Yes it’s more cost, but that lens swings well above its weight, and is sharp as can be for its cost. That lens can do some light (family and friends) portrait work, and even some kids daytime sporting events. It isn’t made of just plastic like this one is. If there’s one thing to know about canon rf lenses, you cheap out and you’ll pay later.
Thanks for the info! I haven't used the 18-150mm but it sounds like a good lens to have in your lineup!
Good video.
I haven't used my kitlens since I went ahead and bought the Sigma lens. I believe it is well worth the money (depending on your financial stuation ofcourse), so my views align with yours. The Sigma is my main do-it-all lens, I'm shooting family stuff, some landscape and some street photography with it with nice results time after time. You can even do some almost-but-not-quite-macro shots because of the generous minimum focus distance and the nice 2.8 aperture....
Same, the kit lens is a dust collector now haha
Nice video, and don't forget about the Sigma weather sealing... 😉🍻
Yeah that's true!
Great video! Is no IS a problem for still photos? I do mostly stills?
Thanks! No, it hasn't been an issue for photography at all!
i’ve been using a camera without IS and a lot of reviewer says it’s a problem but for me it’s never been a problem. get it trust me
Is there any video on the entire RUclips that explains how the sigma performs on a full frame body! I know it’s not for a full frame but I’m curious to know how it will do? Or the drawbacks or features cripple hammer we would experience using it on a full frame camera
It will work on a full frame camera I believe, but I wouldn't recommend it due to the fact that it will not be using your full sensor. Basically your image quality won't be as good.
@@AndrewKnepper of course but it can work on a pinch with good frame rates. Some might be willing to take that chance. especially a videographer with a lower budget that cant afford expensive full frame equivalent which is the 24-70 f2.8. Im talking about myself lol
I'm here because I'm looking at the Canon R50 and the 2 different kits are available: RF-S18-45mm or RF-S10-18mm and I'm not sure which one would work best for my home tour videos. I like for the video to look as natural as possible, without that fisheye lens effect I see so many Realtors use with their phones. Does it really make a difference which one I pick, and what do you recommend?
Either would get the job done! You may want to go with a prime lens like the RF 16mm because it will have much better low light performance which would produce better quality indoors! Hope this helps!
@@AndrewKnepper thanks!
Thanks for the review, very helpful.
I was interested in how it is, if we put this lens on R6 or R5, on any full frames.
Well this lens is made for APS-C cameras so it will either crop in on your sensor or there will be vignetting.
@@AndrewKnepper Okay got it 👍🏾
It looks really bad I tried to run it on my R6M2
@@JamalPhoenix Images coming out or lookwise?
I currently use a Canon EFS 17-55 2.8 IS with an adapter on the R7, is the change worth it?
I can't say for sure since I haven't used that lens, but I would say stick with the EF lens!
I guess you would lose IS and in change get a more compact setup.
