What APSC Canon needed, the 10-18 from Sigma should be next.

Canon aps-c-owners REALLY deserve this lens!! Have used my Sony version for about a year now, and it`s an impressive lens, considering 2,8 (constant!!) aperture, size, weight, and price. Love it! Hope that Viltrox, Yongnuo etc can follow suit. 🙂

Look who finally made it! (or rather, who Canon finally chose to let in.) I know this will be repeated content, but thanks for putting a dedicated video together anyway Dustin. Canon shooters who aren't familiar with the options should find it helpful.

I'm just getting back in to photography after a 15 year hiatus. Picked up a R7 a month ago. It's my lucky day that this Sigma came out before starting a lense collection other than the kit 18-150. It will be perfect for my needs.

Great review, and I'm glad to hear you like the lens! I'm not surprised though, as I've owned/used the Sigma 17-70 2.8-4 C for 8 years, and it's been a fantastic workhorse of a lens. Although I really enjoy my FF Canon lenses (mostly L), the one big benefit to smaller sensor cameras is still the size when there's a proper lens designed just for it (Fuji and Olympus photographers definitely know this!). I have two Tamrons as well and I don't think I'll ever buy Tamron again - but my two Sigmas (the other being a very old 8-16) have done fantastic for the price. IQ wise, if I said the L lenses I've used (28-70 F2, 70-200 2.8, 135 F2, etc) were a near 10 out of 10, my old 17-70 has been a solid 8-8.5, and I'd have no issue printing at A1 size and seeing the details I expect. Between this and the Sigma 10-18 coming out, these are going to make a fantastic travel combo!

Perhaps I'm churlish and 🎉 partly crashing this apsc thread, however I remain a FF Canon owner waiting for Canon to fully open up Canon the RF system, the cost of RF glass is keeping me with my, quite frankly, excellent Canon 6D Mk2.

I am in love with mine for X mount, it is my general purpose lens and stays attached to my fuji x-s10 80% of the time, while for portraits I favour prime lenses (30mm and 56mm, also from sigma. Yeah, call me a sigma fanboy, but the price/performance ratio is just that good)

The Sony version of this lens has lived on my A6600 for the past couple of years. It is an absolutely fantastic lens on my Sony - compact, light, very sharp, very useful min focusing distance. An all-around excellent lens.

Does this lens support canons setting of "movie servo AF speed"? On rf lenses you can dial in your desired video focus transition speed to avoid jumpy sudden focus changes. If that works the new Sigma RF lenses will be very interesting for filming :)

I bought this lens for my R50, but returned it. Wasn’t fond of how the images looked. I felt that they lacked anything special. I like my EF-S 17-55 more, but I use that lens on an older 70d, and SL1.

canon has the best aps c camera,s in the world they should consider it professional especially the
R7 they should produce better professional lenses for it or strike a deal with sigma to produce the lenses for it zo we get more lens flexibility,,

@@DustinAbbottTWI well, you don't need to say it. I went to a camera store and tried it on my R7, and it felt and performed just like a cheap kit lens. In fact, the kit lens is actually BETTER as it has image stabilization, this cheap overpriced crap doesn't. Bottom line, if you have a KIT lens for the R7 or any other Canon APSC Mirrorless. DO NOT waste money buying this lens, as it is more of a DOWN GRADE than an upgrade! This lens sells for $699 CAD, it should be $399 MAX!
