I love the structure that flannel gives my pads, and I don't use heavy pads, so 3 or 4 layers of flannel works well for me. The construction of my pads is a topper, a layer of woven cotton or flannel that the core is stitched to, then the backer. Having that extra woven layer inside the pad makes it so that I can drop the core down to two or 3 layers without sacrificing absorbancy. Nice informative video! I have yet to buy any fabrics from wazoodle or nature's fabrics, but I have recently gotten into hand dyeing my own fabrics, so I think it's time to get some.

Polyurethane Laminate. It's basically a fabric laminated in plastic, making it waterproof. Most the time it's polyester fabric laminated in plastic but you can get cotton too. ❤

I think some people still struggle with breaking the habit of apologizing for being a woman and everything that comes along with it. It takes time for the thought patterns to shift, but I think it's going pretty well. People are a lot more open and direct about these topics than when I started puberty, and even into early adulthood.

If you use Original Zorb do not prewash it, most everything else it is best to prewash as it will rinse out the starch and preshrink so your project doesn’t wrinkle and pucker.
So I ordered some Babyville PUL and was sent the wrong thing. I am pretty sure what I got was their wicking fabric. If you were going to use wicking fabric in pads or panty liners, which layer would you use it for?
@@question3613 No, you want PUL for the bottom or inner bottom layer (if you choose a cotton for the outside that shows). The PUL is like a waterproof layer. Wicking would be your top layer closest to the flow.

I've tried out some pads and think that if your topper and core are really good at absorbing liquid, and your backing is attached a layer of waterproof fabric (the types used in umbrellas, wind coats, tents), then it suffices to use cotton as backing. Keep in mind that not all cottons are the same.

@@AiT8Keys1 okay. I was just throwing it out there if you hadnt heard of them. I dont know that you can really do a waterproof pad that is completely able to keep things in. Unless you do a complete like PUL diaper type of design with elastic leg gussets like a baby swim diaper. But that is really for keeping solids in and not so much liquids.

There’s a woman on TikTok and she’s selling these pads she calls guzzers that she’s charging $28 for 1 pad! That wud cost a fortune to have enough just for those few heavy days
Over the lifetime of your cycles, it would be more cost effective and ecologically responsible than all of the disposable pads you might use. The good news is you can sew your own and cut the costs!

Polyester thread is non-wicking. Cotton can sometimes wick fluid through.

It doesn't matter which side goes up! Personally i think id have rough side out but whatever works for you!

Regular Cotton topped pads are good for staying cool.

Many people have allergies to Zorb. It can also be prone to compression leaks.

Yes, all except Zorb original should be prewashed. Most bamboo fabrics should be washed and dried on hot 4-5 times to ensure shrinkage is complete

From my reading it is best used for the topper since it is not actually waterproof, rather it pulls the moisture away from the surface
