This series has been eye opener to me in many ways. Seeing the way this guy spoke to kids and how he acts outside of it made me think of an old "friend" of mine on Roblox that I have always felt has been living a lie. However, over the years I knew him I was too preoccupied to pick up the alarming red flags all over the place. Seeing this made me think of all the red flags I never paid enough attention to. I am currently trying to back track and find out more about the people he was associated with. Of course I don't know anything for sure unless I find definitive proof... but the things he said were sick in retrospect.

i think your interviewing skills are very good, despite the subject matter. it's like when criminologists talk to serial killers and stuff; they're very calm, so the criminal is a lot more likely to spill the beans if they don't feel they're threatened. it's a skill that the majority of people can't do, especially when you're talking to someone who is VERY manipulative and you have to stand your ground and let them know that you're not gonna take their shit.

as someone who's been abused (mostly verbal/emotional abuse and not sexual), i have hurt people in the past (i was manipulative/toxic back then and didn't know how to react or cope in healthy ways) but that was back when i was a kid/minor. i didn't even know i was abused. i was also groomed online while being abused at home. i didn't know what grooming was until i was 19/20. i am now around the age Andrew was when he started talking to this 14 year old, and i could never imagine talking to a kid like that now. at 20 you are old enough to know better than to be having those kind of conversations with a kid so while his past experience with abuse may *explain* the way he behaves, it doesn't excuse it. he needs to continue seeking professional help and possibly be put in jail or have his internet access taken away. he needs to be monitored. he will most likely reoffend and i don't think the authorities or law are doing a good job at handling him rn. he shouldn't be able to have internet access at all yes, it's possible for him to change his behavior and battle these urges, but MAPs like Andrew cannot be "fixed" as you can't change or alter your sexual attraction to children with therapy. therapy can only help so much but it cant fix everything. it can't fix what Andrew has done and it can't get rid of his fantasies, so i assume thats why he gave a crappy "idk if i can" answer to your question basically. therapy can help a lot with how to be responsible for your own behavior and what not, but seeing as how Andrew is or claims to be going to therapy, and already got in trouble prior to this victim, is telling. he is most likely to reoffend
