Because of your review I've bought one a few weeks ago and I don't even regret every single cent I've spent. This guitar is well built even if it's from China. Gotta love the preamp too. Thank you for the nice review!
Thanks a lot for this precious review. I hesitate between this guitar and the takamine GN10 NS, I'm not interested in the preamp right now (all I want is something easy to play for my small hands and an acceptable tone). I really love this mini jumbo shape plus the tone is awesome, but I'm still confused : any recommendations from you will more than welcome sir.
I think the Takamines are great - worth also checking out the Washburn which has high-end features for budget money (see my other review ). I ended up going back to a Taylor GS Mini having tried various 'small' guitars, but that's not a negative reflection on any of the others
@@guitarsandthings7232 I totally agree with you the taylor mini sounds great unfortunately I can't get it in my country (Morocco), the only guitars I loved that are sold here are the takamine gn10 and gx11 me : don't know if you have an idea about the first one ( I'm still a strummer so it's just for accompanying myself while singing at home).
Thanks for the feedback - In terms of playability, I think once I'd lowered the action, the Takamine suited my taste slightly more than the Washburn, although there really isn't much in it. Volume wise, both are very similar.
I would, yes. It's small, comfortable and very well made. If I remember correctly I think the action (height of the strings from the Fretboard) was quite high so that would make it a little more difficult to play, but this was easily fixed by removing shins from under the saddle - if you're not confident doing this, your ocal guitar shop can do it quickly
The Washburn sounds a lot better to me. I just ordered one ! You made that Washburn G55 mini koa. Sound good . How about the Taylor mini koa. What do your ears tell you on a comparison. Hey thanks a lot . You do great honest reviews. Hope keep on reviewing guitars . Thanks again! Jeff Clark from ROCKDALE texas
Thanks for the kind words Jeff - I appreciate it. You may be right about the Washburn, although of course tone is subjective - it's certainly the more impressive spec, style, finish etc. but the Takamine has the bonus of the on-board electrics. If I didn't want that extra versatility I would probably pick the Washburn.
Good description, thanks. I do not have the opportunity to try such a guitar in my country (Croatia). Can you just tell me or even measure the height of the strings '' Guitar action ... String Height & Action '' on 12 and 1,2,3, fret. I know Takamine has a special plastic saddle, I just want to know what the neck is like and the feel of the strings under the fingers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Once again a very good description that can help a lot.
Hi, thanks for the comment, this is a really good question, because like many guitarists I'm quite sensitive about string height! I will get some measurements for you later but in the meantime I can tell you that on arrival I found the action to be too high in this guitar. But, top marks to Takamine as the saddle has a couple of shims underneath and by removing one of them it got the action to my preferred height.
So, at the 12th fret (low E) the action is 2.1mm and at the 1st fret it's about 0.35mm. On the high E it's 1.7mm and 0.30mm respectively. This is just with 1 shim removed and no other adjustments, although there is scope to lower it further by removing the 2nd shim.
The battery fits into a little plastic housing which pops out of the control panel on the upper shoulder, it's the same design that Takamine use on their other models and it means you don't have to fiddle around inside the body!
@@kazukid7663 so, if you look at the little control panel, you'll see the battery cover with the Takamine logo on it. This cover has a little clip onthe top and bottom edges, to remove it you pinch this two clips and the cover will just come off so you can then remove the battery inside.
Unfortunately I've not had chance to try the GY11, although I'd imagine that the parlour styling of the GY might give it a more delicate sound, plus the full scale would perhaps feel a little less cramped than the GX.
@@NelDiaz generally it's down to personal preference, I know 13s wouldn't suit me as I prefer something a bit lighter even on a full size acoustic. Having said that, the shorter scale length does mean that in theory you could increase and still retain string tension. It may be worth double checking Takamine's website to see what they fit as standard.
@@guitarsandthings7232 Oh I see, thank you so much for answering my questions 😁 I ticked the notification bell icon of your channel so I can watch your future uploads. Looking forward to more of your guitar reviews! Keep it up! 🤘

great review 🙌🏻
Thank you, I'm no expert but if my RUclips ramblings are appreciated that's nice to know.
Great review mate . I know it's subjective but what do you reckon has the best playability ? . Also what one sounds louder

takamine gy11me-ns vs takamine gd11mce-ns witch to buy?
Do you recommend the Takamine GX11ME-NS for a female beginner player? Thank you.

Hello, this looks larger than 3/4 size, how does it compare in size to baby taylor or little martin?
Thanks bunch
Never tried a Baby Taylor or Little Martin so can't comment, sorry

What gauge of strings did you use in this video?
I'm not 100% sure, they were whatever was supplied as standard from new, I suspect they were 12s.
@@guitarsandthings7232 Thank you! I'm planning on putting some 13s on it. Will you recommend it?

It is made in China?
Yes, 'crafted' in China, according to the label
