We are former homeschoolers. Our kids have graduated. We have a very large book coillection. Almost all of them came from library book sales, thrift stores, garage sales and an occasional antique stores. Our oldest date back to the early 1800's. I love the idea of a cabinet of curiosities.
I recently moved from an apartment with black mold. Starting an insect collection has always been a dream of mine too. I had a really interesting butterfly from the wilds of ecuador that I picked up at a local artist market while traveling there. Sadly when I went to unpack it at my new apartment, the mold had rendered it to dust. Some of my insects, like my blue morpho butterfly, did survive the move though so im very happy about that. Just wanted to share bc I thought you could appreciate! Thank you for another lovely video!
How tragic to loose the butterfly from Ecuador. I am going to start collecting one butterfly each time I visit a butterfly garden. They sell the dead ones in the gift store.
I enjoy how smart you are. My cousin was a mathematician who calibrated vibrations for missiles for Martin-Marietta. Another cousin started the National Geographic Magazine. David G. Fairchild has a place in Wikipedia and books. Me? I majored in English and got an MDiv so I could be a chaplain. Sexism means I am poor, since so many denominations still had quite a bit of sexism when I was younger. I think alchemy of the past is presented with Harry Potter, and is scientific on many levels with "dark alchemy" and is not evil. I don't think the women murdered during the Salem Witch Trials were witches. I think they liked herbs. Some of them might have had mental illness and people were afraid. My Dad was a special Ed. teacher for 5 years, and I was a chaplain to special need people at Central State Hospital, a state hospital for severe patients. Only 1% of the Bible are the spoken words of women. When I went to seminary, we were exempted from preaching after a death threat. We had to take more courses in history and theology instead of speaking. Misogyny is not only ancient. I encounter it sometimes even lately. I hope you have more to be grateful than to be sad over with your vlog. I enjoy it!
I am encouraged by how many opportunites my daughters and granddaughters have because of women who have pioneered for generations so they find their true passions.
No, no! Do not collect butterflies or even insects! Obviously you need to leave the butterflies to reproduce! Monarch butterflies and other butterflies are on the enlarged list! Please, just frame pictures of these creatures! We need to protect them from insecticide, habitat destruction and collectors! So surprised at this suggestion!
Thank you for your comment! I can never bring myself to kill butterflies! We have not sprayed for mosquitos because (despite of what the exterminators say), those sprays kill butterflies! I have wondered about buying the dead butterflies from museum stores that have butterfly experiences. But I want some cicado shells and other dead insects I find.

That is awesome! I have taught in public schools, private school, and homeschool. There is definitely a place for each type!
How fun this video is. I have nearly all those kinds of collections. Some I display, others I need to figure out. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Really enjoyed this chapter. Things that we surround ourselves with give others a glimpse of our minds & interest.
Well said!

Your home looks so beautiful and comfortable.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Oooh - so many good ideas. I need to do a little organizing and arranging.
You can do it!
