DIY Pondless Waterfall & Stream, pt 1
Join me as I share how we constructed by hand (over a 2 month period) a pondless waterfall and stream using an Aquabasin kit and materials we gathered. With large rocks and small stones, tree stumps and downed trees, replanted moss and plants, an enchanting stream has emerged to captivate visitors and wildlife. If you have been intimidated by the beefy young crews with heavy machinery and vast experience, we show you how to DIY if you just have realisitic expectations and patience.
Check back in a few weeks to see the final product!

      I definitely read old books. I was an English major and will read anything. However, SOME of my great grandfather's books of poetry (by poets I have never heard of) contain some really cheesy poetry. And some of the history books contain information that was totally fabricated. Fake news is not a new thing! So glad you enjoy the videos.

    Every video you make is useful and helpful. The most useful to your demographic is the 99 Design Tips. The tips helped me. Bealtaine Cottage is “future proofing” and it is another way of saying aging in place. You have an aid that other designers have no clue to address. Even Jerryrigeverything doesn’t hold a candle to what you made with that one video. . We paid someone $8k to level and polish our concrete slab. We paid a company to paint our great room with 14”6’ cathedral ceilings. We moved all the furniture ourselves. We are almost 70 and we have highboys and oak bookcases. After 7 weeks, I am overwhelmed with how much needs to be done.

    What do you mean when you say your hydrangeas grow on old wood? Thanks.

    • @stonecottageadventures304
      @stonecottageadventures304 Месяц назад

      When the flower buds form on last season's canes, not on new growth, that is referred to as old wood. Panicle and smooth hydrangeas bloom on new wood, which is growth from the current season. Their flower buds form after the plant leafs out in spring.

    Thank you for making this video. This was the first time it was explained to me, and it clicked, and now I can see how this works. One question I had was how much of the room needs to feature the Hero fabric? In the examples, the Hero fabric has proportionally less han the stripes, small-scale prints, and geometrics. In one room, the hero was a drapery pannel and one pillow, and the supporting prints comprised most of the other parts of the room. In my project, my hero pattern is the wallpaper on one wall. Is that too much of a hero pattern? I think the items I'm placing on that wall will break up the pattern (a dresser, a solid lamp, and some art with wide matting). Would I need the wallpaper pattern anywhere else in the room, or will the supporting prints be enough?

    • @stonecottageadventures304
      @stonecottageadventures304 Месяц назад

      The proportional use of the hero fabric varies with your tolerance! Mathematical formulas might work for some people, but I prefer to let my eye be the guide. As far as repeating the wallpaper, that is not necessary, but do try to repeat 2 to 3 colors from the pattern multiple times throughout the space. And if there is a small pattern/design from the paper that is echoed, that is super fun. I just found a lamp with florals that echo the florals found in my guestroom hero fabric. Thanks for your great question!

    I was a VA Chaplain. When we bought this house in 1998, it had a 4 inch step. I rejected over 30 houses because of my mold allergies and because my Mother could not do steps. I have been at my sister’s house. She had a compound fracture on a ramp going to a restaurant, and needed me. The ramp had no traction and it was raining. No lawyer thinks it is worth suing. She was handicapped walking up a ramp, so it must have been her fault. Why Her house is much less accessible than mine. She has been handicapped for 8 years after 2 knee surgeries. She has no grab bars, her halls are narrow, and she has too much furniture. Her house is 3 years old. There are people doing ADA designs for individuals, and no videos I can find as thorough as your video. Compliment and I am sad more people and companies don’t educate more people. I wish more people knew about this video. # and tag got 30K views of my cat purring. Playlist for #accessible can help!

      @@stonecottageadventures304 I started short videos with friends I have. There is a mat you can slide a heavy Kitchenaid mixer around easily on a counter. Also a metal attachment for the mixer. I was with a friend when she stuck a finger in a cheap beater. Thank God we didn’t have to go to an ER. If you made a playlist, or if you put #accessible for a tag, it might help more people. I make comments on RUclips to help algorithms. I am always surprised someone reads anything I say. Thanks. Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) might spread the word for this one video. Keep up what you do, as I think more people are going to find you.
