I’m not going to lie. I’m more excited for the preseason team than the actual registered squad. The first team squad is just SO unbalanced. No dedicated pivot, Raphinha isn’t a true winger but more like an inverted striker, no world class striker. The actual preseason team that consists of La Masia players have actual team chemistry.

    • @fimmyk
      @fimmyk 2 месяца назад +7

I mostly blame the euros for that. La Masia players had the whole summer break with Flick while the first team only joined not long ago after the euros so they are behind and you can tell by watching them.

  • @ZugaFcb

3 things to note in this game,
If we are to start lewandowski then we need him where he is the most lethal (in the box), with proper feeding, throughout the first half kounde and balde couldn’t put a ball in the box and it was frustrating, they need to understand that if we are to be this daring then then they must put in the cross, did they not watch Valle in the u.s tour ?
Using kounde as a right back with this tactic is just insane, how can you go to war with a blunt weapon ?, we all saw how things changed when valle and yamal came in.
Thirdly is movement in the middle, during the first half we saw that non of our attackers could successfully beat thier man, the only person that could beat his player (pau victor ) was stuck in the wing because kounde failed to come forward and put the ball in the box. Now we all see why olmo is important

Barca's defense will improve with first team players, but my concern is on the double pivot. Who is going to play there? We can't just rely on two B team players. Also, Lewa shouldn't be an undisputed starter any more. Barca needs to start preparing for next season also by giving more time to young strikers.

  • @Gojoismydad

Does flick really need winger that stay wide because the fullbacks were the ones that held the with against Monaco and the wingers were closer to the striker in the attack. We have Ansu, Ferran and Raphinha who fit those conditions.

@@tacticsfcb3952Flicks system is more about ball movement than exploiting 1v1's. Balde on the left and Lamine on the right can provide that while the other crowd the box and Lewa with his linkup play could be great.

The problem with the monaco game was kounde. He is excellent defensively, but offensively he just doesn't have it in him, compare that to the threat that alex valle was providing against milan and madrid, he was almost a left winger, the number if times terstegen was passing it long to alex valle because he was making a run in behind was crazy and we saw the kind of crossing and passing ability that this kid had, especially key passes, i dont know why flick didnt trust him again and mive kounde into CB. Some games we might need koundes defemnsive ability, but if we want to see ooen attacking football we need an attacking fullback like alex valle on that right side. Its a trade off that flick is gonna have to decide. Is it defensive solidity or open attacking threat

I still insist that barca defense problem can only be solved with a holding pivot, not a deep lying playmaker pairing with a b2b. Now i dont know how flick thinks he doesnt need a holding pivot (or as the media calls a positional pivot) cuz i am not him, but so far his double pivot solution hasnt worked. Im okay with the board not signing zubimendi or any world class holding pivot cuz i know they would rather spend a fortune on an attacking player than a penny for a pivot. I hope that pau prim can break into the 1st team somewhere in the season. He is of the profile closest to the busi type that we need and lack

Flick's system doesn't work with a cdm but rather he uses a double pivot.
His double pivot only works when the whole team is working

Bernal isn't a deep lying playmaker. He is a defensive midfielder. He did win tackles and make crucial interceptions and his positioning is brilliant, he did make one or 2 juvenile mistakes, which is like attempting risky nutmegs and beinga bit too confident, but it's his 1st game with Barca, he will learn, and that mistake he made in the 1st goal wasn't really his mistake but most of the blame goes to Inigo Martinez for giving the ball to Bernal in such a risky area. But Bernal should have been more focused, he was a bit too relaxed especially since it was just seconds after the play resumed after a goal kick and he lost his concentration for a bit

@@akashm8358 and im not talking about just the conceded goal cuz thats just one situation. Im talking about the whole defense game. Both casado and bernal tool turn to move forward and stay at the back, but none really has the spatial awareness required to support defense as a pivot. Sure bernal with his long legs got some really good tackles, but there are more to defense. Of course i know they are young and can improve, just pointing out that until they succeed, the problem wont be fixed. They conceded 8 goals in 4 pre season game already.
Anyway a more static, defensive type of pivot like pau prim is still necessary

As long as Ter Stegen and Lewandowski play every game it's curtains before the season even starts. Not to forget the lack of a proper defensive midfielder. Joao Palhinha, A Onana were all available instead we ended up spending 60M on Dani Olmo who isn't a necessity and putting unbelievable burden on a 17 year old kid. Typical Barcelona, as a fan you just end up losing hope so early knowing such incompetent fools are in charge of the club.
