    San Antonio should be developed more than Austin, it's a bigger city and a World class city sue to Alamo and Riverwalk. They need a Downgown just as big as Dallas.

      SA has never and will never be "world class", we don't have light rail (the largest city to only use buses) connecting the airport with the central business district, the airport and skyline are smaller than Omaha's or Des Moines. SA is about 70 years behind smaller metros.

      Add in failure to attract Fortune 500 companies, historic failure to prepare for anything other than brown collar, tourist industry jobs, and yes lack of light rail. Red McCombs still runs San Antonio and it shows.

      @@SquidProQuo80Our airport is weird ngl idk wtf the city was thinking with that and there was a plan for lite rail but once old people start complaining the city council just gives in to their demands overlooking the fact that SA is one of the youngest cities by age in the country and these projects aren’t for the elderly but us and people younger. Even the Himisfair development was going to be outstanding but they scaled it down like ffs we can’t have anything nice

    Forget the history of downtown preservers: think about the present and future and start building a nice tall skyline. It’s an embarrassment the way our city’s downtown looks.

    • @markanthony1004
      @markanthony1004 5 месяцев назад

      That’s the biggest problem with San Antonio. The city council is stuck in the past but all they need to do is look at Austin and what they’ve been doing since maybe 2002 or so

      @Patrick Finley can have very tall skyscrapers like Houston bc we cannot have sunlight blocked fr the riverwalk and the Alarm

    I think it's time for some fresh blood and out of the box thinkers to start running the development of our downtown. We need a strong council person to take the initiative and start doing something to attract bigger business to the heart of our city. AT&T was headquartered here for a few years and they moved to Dallas because our airport is so far behind in development. San Antonio is the 7th largest city in the U.S. San Antonio is also getting ready to pass up Philadelphia for the 6th largest city in the U.S. very soon. We need to stop worrying about buildings casting shadows over the Alamo and the Riverwalk. I'm willing to be that they would avoid building a skyscraper next to the Tower of the Americas because it would block the view!! It's time for the city to take on a fresh perspective on the development of our downtown and stop being influenced by these old fuddy-duddy conservatives. Our city is great, but it could be better for our future generations.

      considering sanantonio has mostly been run by far left extremists for decades now, I think conservatives basically have little to no say , in the planing and development and secondly they only reason sanantonio is far behind is because it lacks growth.in the private sector Growth comes from the private sector not from a central government they only way sanantonio will see significant growth is to cut regulation and taxis so that businesses see this location as an opportunity also focusing on infrastructure such as roads and highways and traffic flow will also help. Instead we have a radical far left goverment focusing on shutting down Chick Fil-A at (absolutely ridicules) the airport and bringing in illegal aliens all while having a billion dollar short fall for physical year 2022

      @@AlbertInSanAntonio Good Answer. Public sector (taxpayer funded) is not the way to the future. Private sector fuels the growth of Dallas, Houston and Austin. Thanks for sharing this.

    Hey for all my people who live in San Antonio, I wanna know, how come the downtown skyline is the way it is you know? For 1.2 million people you would think it would have a skyline like Austin or Houston or Dallas. I notice, there isn't that many tall buildings except for like the tower of America's and stuff. I notice the skyline is kinda spread out in a way and Mexican themed, I guess so because of the history and stuff. But I've also been told that if they made the skyline with tall modern buildings that it would change the dynamic of the city and all the buildings would cast a shadow over the Alamo. It's a very interesting skyline tho so don't get me wrong when asking. Just wondering

    • @HowardLore
      @HowardLore 3 года назад +7

      The reason why is because there aren’t any big name companies that make a headquarters in San Antonio (besides frost bank). Houston Austin and Dallas all have big Fortune 500 companies located there so the skyline is full of massive office skyscrapers.

      In Mexico there's taller and way more modernized skyscrapers my friend though San Antonio needs taller skyscrapers at least in a different area of town I mean it's the 21st century.

    San Antonio is a frustrating place where we always get cheated and developers/city leaders always force the cheapest scaled-back design and that's if anything get's built at all. I'm not surprised at all that only 2 out of these 6 proposals got built. It's very frustrating when you have a smaller metro just 70 miles up the highway that turned itself from a small college town into a bustling tech capital with a skyline to rival Dallas within the space of 2 decades. Even worse today yet ANOTHER proposal in Hemisphere Park got scaled down from 29 stories to 10. I've decided to move to Austin from San Antonio this year because the airport is better, there are far more high paying jobs and there are also no entertainment or nightlife options the way ATX has.

    • @markanthony1004
      @markanthony1004 5 месяцев назад

      Old people complained about Hemisphere Park and since they vote more they get what they want. Sad because they’re not the ones who will see these lackluster projects continue 20 and 30 years down the road
