  • Miyagi said to make it look like a tree using only the picture in my mind.
    So, I did.
In part 2 of this series, I create a deadwood freature at the top of this tree to bring out the wild image of a mountain larch from the Cascade Mountain Range.
Stay tuned for part 3 where this tree gets its first bonsai container.

You’ve already transformed this larch from unbalanced and uninteresting into some quite unique. Nice work. Thanks, keep growing

Very interesting video. Dead wood in the top is very nice. Not overdone. I am very curious what you are going to do with the one sidedness of this tree. I read a reaction on the first video fusing a second larch against the first. Nice idea. I am curious what you will decide. Of course 👍👍

Additional deadwood down the bare side is extremely likely. A second tree is less likely, but an option…

That looks great can't wait too see it's progress. I have a question regarding a maple of mine, I was going to put it in a big nursery container too thicken it up do you still recommend a mix if bark and pumice? If so what ratio. Thanks

A local wholesale nursery puts their young plants in 100% bark and they do amazing. I would recommend 50/50 pumice/bark though. At least that’s similar to what works for my watering needs here in the PNW.

Hi Jareor everyone else reading this. I experience that the hairs of the brushes I use for lime sulfur will desintegrate after a few applications. I am constantly buying new cheap brushes. Are there brushes that can withstand the line sulfur or do they all desintegrate over time? Thanks for your answers!

Nylon bristle brushes are reportedly better for this purpose than brushes with hair bristles. Washing the brush immediately after completing a stinky brushing session should also help extend the life of the brush. The brush I use is an older hair bristle brush that I no longer bother paying attention to. I don’t even wash it anymore. It works fine for my purposes.

The burned branch doesn't have the movement

It moves if I turn the tree around or something like that. 😉
