- Building a small homemade sawmill can be pretty simple. I built this diy sawmill out of construction grade wood in a few hours and it works great. Woodworking just got a lot cheaper.

Your helping a lot of ppl figure out how to fulfill their passions, myself included. Thanks for everything Izzy!
I see a lot of videos where people make things in an overly complex way. But not you. Your style is a great example of the KISS principle. Its the wise way of doing things. Brilliant.
Thank you brother. I try to keep thing simple so more folks can build them. great comment
Tech Tins and
Nice to see "Real Mechanics" Left!! Nice job Izzy. Jack
I cannot wait to build one of these! Thanks for using your creative genius to build an easy to build, low cost sawmill for those of us who cannot afford the other sawmills!
Hey Izzy - cool project. My only suggestion, when you're cutting slabs (boards) as you were here - keep some wooden wedges/shims on hand to keep your kerf space open. I'd tap them in every couple feet on both sides of the board you're making - it keeps the pressure off the blade... I don't think kickback is a big issue with the Prezi, but it will help keep your chain a little sharper a little longer by reducing the friction/heat. WIth a gas saw mill it's s must to keep that kerf even and open - I would think the same thing here would help. Cheers!
Thats a solid tip. Thanks for sharing that.
If you look he has a board following the blade :)
That's what I like about you man. You make tools and jigs that don't require advanced skill to produce, but they allow you to produce advanced stuff. I have no room for a saw mill, but this is something that I could put together in a couple hours that would allow me to mill down my own stuff. Great work man!
This is the answer to what my father-in-law and I are looking for to mill up some of the trees he cuts down, and thank you for putting a link up makes finding that attachment easier. Keep up the grate work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Woodworking just got a lot cheaper. That's an understatement! It just got almost free! Great invention!
I like the new format. Very well done. The build was cool too. The great thing is now viewers have a choice. Wood or metal.
Wow thank you Izzy. I think this is the best and simplest mill I've seen! I do believe I'm going to build one of these!! I've seen some videos that show how to buld a diy mill with detail and safety overkill. Not the case here. Thanks again!!!
This is awesome! This makes a home sawmill seem much more attainable for the average schmuck like us! Can't wait for those free plans and to test this out in the future!
Izzy, this is exciting to watch. Your channel is one of the few I watch where i do not speed it up, I may watch this one again, LOL if your channel was a stock, I would buy some, I think you are going to end up with a couple million viewers before long. Thanks for making and sharing.
I like the simplicity, good job. You gave me a good idea.
Izzy, what a great contraption. Your ingenuity never ceases to amaze me. Also, I freaking love the T-shirt and the T-rex.
Thanks Izzy! Excited to hear about the alliances you're building and love the channel! Especially enjoyed this video on the sawmill... new project added to the list of things to build. Thanks my friend!
Thank you for keeping it simple sir, I'm a beginner woodworker who appreciates starting from simple and graduates to more complicated as my understanding permits
I love your way of thinking. Chewing perfectly good branches into wood chips breaks my heart too.
Simplicity at it's finest. Love the video
I really love the simplicity, I know that's already been said, but, it's worth repeating. Great guys like you make RUclips awesome, thanks
This is really nice, Izzy! A chainsaw chain sharpened for ripping will really make the cutting easier and give you a smoother cut. Awesome job as always! Thanks for sharing.
This is awesome, I just acquired 9 acres of land and about 7 of it is trees so thanks to you I’m about to start milling and building!
A made one of these just using this video last weekend, and I finally got to do some milling today, and it cuts like an absolute dream. I built it entirely out of scrap wood and fasteners, and only paid for a $90 dollar corded chainsaw off Amazon. It works awesome and I'm getting some amazing lumber out of storm fall. Thanks Izzy!
Simple build with excellent results. Nicely done.
Very timely video...my beam cutter just arrived yesterday. I played around with it a little bit but so far not bad. Instructions were a bit sketchy though. Thanks and keep up great vids.
You're amazing mate. Just ordered some basic tools to get started woodworking. Thanks for finding ways to make it more accessible to people who might not be able to afford the high end equipment. Where there is Izzy, There is hope!
This is so simple but brilliant. I love the simplicity of raising and lowering the saw. Im going to make one but with a chainsaw so will have to adapt the holder a bit but keep everything the same.
Great saw mill and not expensive to build. Thanks for the great idea.
Very simple. Very cool. Looks like it is a blast to operate to. Nice job.
Yup I gotta make one of these sawmills. This is the way for me to make a cedar bench out of the tree in my back yard! As usual you are awesome, Izzy, thanks for sharing.
That was awesome. I havent done that since the late 70s we even built a kiln with a humidifier . Worked great for construction.
Besides being a great design, excellently paced video , and no nonsense quirky personality issues for added "entertainment", it also features a great selection of music. Great job. I'll be back to watch and learn more. Thanks.
I know what my first project is for 2017. izzy's saw mill! can't wait! !!!!!!!!
Great sawmill. Wish you all a happy new Year
Hi I love both the saw cutting mills you have made and it is nice to see you have now been able to give discounts to your avid fans good luck with all you do keep it up fan from United Kingdom 🇬🇧
Thank u so much for making this video using wood. This is exactly what I have been searching for!!!!!
Been following you for quite a while and you have come up with some great ideas. I think this one is one of the best. All the way from Queensland Australia.
Just caught your steel video first and was really liking it and about 3/4 of the way through I said, "I wonder if it could be done with wood?: Then BAM you did it. Thanks very much. It really was fun to watch both versions. Not perfect is how my project turn out. But they are fun and that is what life should be about. Having fun while doing an event prevents it from being a "job." Thanks again.
Great build. Thanks for sharing.
I signed up for the tool masters association tonight!! Thanks Izzy for the inspiration and videos! Keep up the good work and videos.
Brilliant... simply and smart, well done that man
When you stop halfway to put more oil on you can throw a wedge in the first part you cut. Great video I've watched about every video out there on saw mills and am going to build one this summer. Was going to use a chain saw but your set up might just be the best for me. Thanks for the video.
I like your Bosch impact driver. I bought the 1600 inch pound version. Cool mill.
very cool and simple design. thanks for sharing
If i could i would triple like this video!!! I am going to make this some day and make some solid plank 4 inch benches for the front porch! You rock izzy!
Thanks for this practical and very-well explained video.
By far best mill I've seen
Great idea. Your videos have evolved so well too. Thanks for the work you do for us. Al
Just ran across your video Izzy. I'm a fan and will visit more often. Greatly enjoyed the video BTW.
Awesome Izzy! I hope this leads a lot of people to milling their own lumber
thank you Matt i hope so to
Matthew Cremona I am going to try and make one this summer. I would love to try my hand at milling my own lumber.

Izzy that is a great ideal I'm starting to get more in to wood working and I needed to make a saw mill and yours is easy enough. Thanks for the video.
Clever rig you’ve created. I’ve found putting a ripping blade on my chainsaw helps cut through a bit nicer.
Thx for sharing!!!!
From where do purchase rip chains? Thank you.
Great build. I have just picked up a load of Holly and might build this so I can mill it! Love it
Great vid Izzy! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and giving back to the Trades.
You might want to try using a "rip" chain on your saw. If you have a sharpener, set it to a 90 degree angle (straight across). Your speed should pick up significantly.
Also, and old timer once taught me to always use two different species of wood when you use them to rub against each other. It turned out to be great advice. A little waxz on the mating surfaces helps a lot too.
I've watched many of your videos lately and I've got to say your crazy talented at what you do, you've had many great ideas, it seems to come naturally an you make it look effortless ... Wood working is Defo your muse ... Thanks for sharing your projects and keep the saw dust coming :p Scotland
Oh great. Now I need to build one of these. Very cool, man!
Thanks Issy, great video. You have given me much via your videos!
So many views and so little comments. I just wanted to say thank you a ton for this, I'm looking into building my own house and I want to do it from materials on my own land, I could using a couple of these.
This is what people need to be learning to do in the midst of all this chaos.
This would save a person a lot of money to even get started milling their own wood! Great video.
Spectacular job Izzy
Hey Izzy! I've been watching you for a long time and I always appreciate your creative drive towards making sure that you keep the ideas achievable for the hobbyists on a weekend woodworking warrior budget.
Especially glad to hear about the toolmasters association. What a terrific way to financially support the work that you do, but also giving members something extra from the tool companies!!
Thanks for being you!
Warmest regards in sawdust and shavings,

Wow Izzy That's full of Awesomeness . This will be brilliant for anyone wanting to mill there own wood..Myself I use a band saw But I think this way and the way it's made is much better suited to my needs.. Thank you for sharing this Awesome build......Shared..
I am absolutely building this. I love the idea and the implementation. Super huge Kudos! What a great way to start the new year!
I'm in 2020 and still watching big man. Respect
I love this. As a tree climber I bring lots if great wood home that just sits now I can't put it to use. I need to find that saw attachment. Thank you for a great video.
Can't believe I only discovered this guy today, you're a genius man. Thank you.
great idea loved it, can't wait to build one myself
Hi izzy, great project and generous of you making this wooden version. Thanks
Great video! I've been holding onto several branches (black walnut & spalted birch) that this would be perfect for. One addition I might make/suggest would be to add construction adhesive or framing brackets (or both) to the joints to prevent the inevitable racking that will occur down the road.
Frank's Custom Woodcrafts like it
Absolutely love it. Thank you
Nearly finished getting my shop set up and this will be my first project! Perfect way to start the year. Thanks for the idea Izzy.
Simplest Design I ve seen yet, nice job.
The metal one whose cool . But I think I like this more . Great idea Izzy . Happy new year .
Best sawmill I have ever seen.
Damn, that was a truly satisfying video. Music, Voice, Production, and WOOD!!! I wish I had 10% of your talent. Now I just need to plant more trees on my 5 acres.
like your video and you have the best voice for presenting a project.
krofaia thank you hell of a nice thing to say.
His voice kinda reminds me of Bob Ross...
Too cool - I'm excited for spring to give this a shot. Keep it up!
I have a larger chainsaw mill that I use fairly frequently right now. Your mill is truly amazing and I plan to make one myself for cutting smaller pieces and cutting down the larger pieces that my tablesaw won't handle. The only thing that I would recommend to lessen the chatter and give you a much smoother cut is to change to a milling chain. It makes all the difference in the world on my mill and leaves a much smoother finish on the wood. I have milled everything from beetle killed pine to canyon oak with great results.
Great idea! I will be picking up one of those circular saw attachments to give it a try soon. Cheers!
you are a genius man...not only for your skills but for sharing...great man 👍✌👏
Great vid. amazing and very inventive. Where would [ no pun .. ] we be without you and Diresta eh !Many thanks and happy New Year from here in the UK.
You continue to knock my socks off. You da MAN!
Great idea. I have never even thought about being able to use my skill saw to mill lumber. I am now though. Thanks for the video.
You sir, are a wizard! Brilliant!
Great video. Thanks for all the good ideas here
nice shop. I build alot of my own stuff. you did a good job
Can't believe I have never seen this video?!?! Awesome idea.
ingenuity at its very best. Thank you
wow man great job! ive been dreaming bout having a mill but therw just out of my budget. i have 50 acres. and have been trying to cut logs with a broad axe .! your vid is so inspiring man . it looks like the metal mill would be better but i think i could do rhe wood frame one. thanks izzy . hats off to you man . Ben
love this, I had a tree fall last week and wanted to make a piece into a shelf or table but didn't know anyplace to do so. I have a chainsaw and cut it up into sections 6-12 feet long until I figure something to do. You totally gave me the Idea how to, hopefully my saw can cut it even slowly! I would love it, totally proud of my work when I do...like, yay I made a box! lol I'll keep watching ya.
Very cool again man. I really dig the attachment. I've never seen one of those.
this is excellent and perfect timing! I just scored several tree stumps that I want to mill. I'll have to give this a try for sure.
Awesome work, Izzy. I've been looking to by an Alaskan mill before the start of spring and have been thinking of making something instead of buying. You came up with a very nice, not overly complicated design here. Well done!!!
Awesome video! I just found your channel and I'm loving the info. I am about to start building a small workshop of my own. Keep up the good work!
Great build, great video. Thanks Izzy
Cool idea! Just getting in to very beginner milling and this is so educational! Thanks for your great video!
