I can tell how much you love them. Not only their excellent body condition but because you asked GST to take care of them. I hope things improve for you!!❤️🐢❤️
when the pancakes were put in the tote ,the way they moved their heads around curiously - reminded me of piling the kids into the van and they are all looking around and asking each other - what’s going on , are we on a trip /😂
I'm so sorry that Paul is struggling with health issues. I wish him a speedy return to health. The tortoises are so beautiful. I would love to parent a tortoise, but the fact that they live so long...I would not want anything to happen to them if I were to pass before them. They deserve the best treatment. What a beautiful enclosure! You are a turtle/tortoise landscape specialist!
Every Sunday morning when I finish my coffee, I peek into my boxie's pen and say "It's Turtle Time Sun"! Always look forward to your videos, Chris. Educational and entertaining.
@@antoniobranderas Yes, definitely! I have been hoping for a tmnt reference on some gst merch... though I would understand if there were copyright issues
I could watch a 15 - or 30-minute video of the pancake tortoise just walking around exploring their outdoor environment. It would be so calming . Thank you for showing how you've built their new outdoor pen.
It was kind of you to help your friend out by taking on his turtles, now he can focus on his health without worry. Love the setup for the pancakes, I know I'd be happy in there, lol. Thanks Chris, always look forward to your vlogs.🐢🌿🌱👍❤️
Beautiful pancake enclosure! I'm sure your friend Paul knows his turtles are now in a safe place. I'm sorry his health has come to the point that he can no longer provide for them, but glad he had a plan with you for their future. You and your family are a huge blessing. Thank you!🎉🎉🎉
The more you talk about pancake tortoises, the more I love them? Not only are they an interesting species, they also can team up together to escape predators? That's super cool
Awesome new additions! South African Leopards are awesome! Glad to see the Pancakes getting back outside for the 2024 season. We are still working on moving our turtles and tortoises outside for the season as well. Temps are finally starting to get warmer ....we are over in WNY. Great video as always! Keep up the amazing work Chris and Casey!🐢
They're all so unbelievably cute!! So glad these torts can live out their lives under your care. Best health health wishes to your friend Paul. Much love 💕😊
I am always amazed at the amount of helpful information you share each week. Thank you. And thank you to your friend who found himself forced to rehome his dear friends. Thoughts and prayers are with you
As much as I love the big guys-the Galaps, the Aldabras, the giant leopards-the pancake tortoises are rapidly becoming my favorite specie. They’re just so fascinating the way they live-so un-tortoiselike! Great enclosures for all your new charges. Thank you for bringing Paul’s animals into your fold. I know he will rest easy knowing that they are in the best home they can be in. Cheers from Texas!❤
Wishing a speedy recovery for your friend, letting go of a pet is always difficult. I'm sure I mentioned it in the new enclosure video, but pancake tortoises have beautiful shells. I always find what you and Casey are doing extremely fascinating. Take care!!
What beautiful, healthy torts! Thank you for giving them their new homes and the best of chances; I know how it feels to have to give up your loved ones that way; for Paul, there must be some consolation in knowing that they'll be loved, respected and allowed to grow in safety. That new pen was fantastic; I had no idea there was a species of tortoise that'd blow up like that to cram themselves in rock crevices (I see Chuckwallah's do that pretty often out where I live, though.)
love this channel it gives so much information especially on old out dated information just wish the pet shops that are selling these animals gave out the same info much love from here in the uk
Thank you so much! We’re headed to the UK in less than 2 weeks. We’ll be speaking at the European turtle alliance conference May 18-19 at Writtle University college in Chelmsford.
I have a Marginated and he’s an absolute puppy of a tortoise but he has some shed stuck in his nostrils I’m fairly certain. He doesn’t blow bubbles or show any sign of illness but every once in a while when he breaths heavier there’s almost a whistle. No idea what it it, he’s humid, fed, soaked, but it’s almost a dry whistle. Great channel!
Oh my goodness, bless Paul's heart. I also have arrangements made for my Starling and Eastern Box turtle just in case. I can't imagine a more perfect placement if it just had to come to that. We should all be so lucky to have that kind of net. I thoroughly enjoy all the educational information on every single video. It thrills me to no end to see a family living out my dream of having a turtle farm on the beach. Right down to a miniature zebu. 😊 It's perfect.
I have 5 Herman's and 2 spurthigh love them to bits. I rescued them from an elderly lady I could not part with them. Paul sorry you had to give them up get well soon.
Hey Chris, are leopard tortoises generally bigger than mountain tortoises (Manouria emys)? I thought that was the fourth largest species of tortoise. Great video as always!!😍
- 4:20 .. Strang question, but what happens to them when you pass away? They will *all* outlive you. Are your daughters taking over? I just hope whoever you leave them to, takes amazing care of all of them. Thanks for all that you guys do for the animals. ❤
I wish your friend well too. I also want to say that you might think about planting native plant species in your enclosures. There are probably nurseries or garden centers down in coastal New Jersey that have some. Native sedges would be nice with flowering types of native plants. Just a friendly suggestion.
Awesome video. You have 85 degrees you're so lucky! We are still having low 40's at night and sometimes 60"s-day time. My CBT old enough to go outside but worried about nighttime temps. There outside pen is all set up. Are these temps ok for box turtles?

I love watching your videos. it helped me when I was taking care of my russian tarzan. He recently passed away I have so much of his stuff left that was barely used. Do you take donations at all?
It was actually too large. I tend to go too big sometimes. It came almost impossible to find them all and caused a lot of stress. So, it’s now used for our Tunisian tortoises because they are a more active species that doesn’t require rock crevices.
FYI, pressure treated wood can be toxic. The most common pesticide used in pressure treated wood is chromated copper arsenate (CCA), which is arsenic, which deters pests and fungi to preserve the wood.
Exactly, which does not affect the tortoises in any way. Unless an animal were to try to consume the wood. In the case of tortoises, that’s not something they do. Thanks for the input.

Leopard tortoises look rather "petite" compared to the other 3 giant tortoise species. 😁
Hahaha right?
What happened with the original outdoor pancake enclosure? It had grown in beautifully.
It was actually too large. I tend to go too big sometimes. It came almost impossible to find them all and caused a lot of stress. So, it’s now used for our Tunisian tortoises because they are a more active species that doesn’t require rock crevices.
What do u do about BURROWING?
Since Tortoises love to Dig.
That’s completely dependent on the species, in the case of these animals there is not an issue.
FYI, pressure treated wood can be toxic. The most common pesticide used in pressure treated wood is chromated copper arsenate (CCA), which is arsenic, which deters pests and fungi to preserve the wood.
