I love how they're showing us what comes after the Grand Tour. Way too often, these cars just disappear never to be seen again. Now, we get to follow it on a whole journey!
check for the rust on rear strut towers. Also remove plastic fuel filler neck guard and poke with a screwdriver near where lip meets the body on the inner "outside" side where fuel cap is and the neck comes from. Because of that lip, water can stay there and cause rust. Happened to a few people i know who had GD subarus.
Sg Foresters can suffer from it aswel, not sure about the impreza but theres a nice black plastic surround to protect everything you can get off the internet for foresters that look completely factory standard
The rear badge is WRX on the top. The bar underneath says Impreza. Any Subbie dealer should have them. It will be nice to see it get restored. Thx for the update.
I'm glad they're keeping some parts of its Grand Tour vibe (tow bar, Martin Racing on windshield), as it would be a shame to change it completely considering the history. I must admit, my heart broke a little seeing them tear the wrap off, but admittedly it does look much better without it.
As someone who owns a 2003 blobeye Impreza WRX in the UK just like this, the badge that's missing at 9:50 in the video is just a standard WRX Impreza badge, shouldn't be too difficult to get off Ebay or a wreckers yard. As for the V-Limited sticker, that's a vinyl cutter job. The rust around the wheel arches is exactly the same on my car.
When Mike said there was something in the glove box I thought Clarkson had slipped a tooth whitening kit in there 🙂 BTW I think the tow bar spoils it but it's still a very nice car.
I reckon the tow bar is nice. It's even got a pin hitch! Very handy. And as the young bloke said, it's a bit of insurance in case someone tries to rear-end you. I'd definitely keep it.
I love so much how the car looks now! The colour, the alloy wheels, the scoop, the spoiler, that's my favorite car ever. Looking forward when it's finished
My 2c: - Should use the towbar for a removable drag parachute mount ;) - Look for a set of the OEM BBS wheels for the new tires! - I am praying you guys work with Subi Performance in Germany for the engine, that's about all they do!
The tow hitch is practically useless as well, manual turbo Subarus are not torque-y engines and you'll wreck the drivetrain trying to tow stuff with it
Zen graphics stock all the decals for the v limited, there should be some on the doors as well, also it’s missing the front splitter that was originally fitted to the v limited model
I hope they do a proper but sympathetic restoration/recommissioning on this. I’ve watched a few of their videos where they spend a lot of time on window dressing (MG ZT-T wheel refurbishment without taking the tyres off?). & the dreaded “machine polish” was mentioned. Looking at the paint, it needed more than a bit of T-Cut. But nice to see a Scooby being given a new lease of life.
Will admit I love the WRX STI Impreza, boys this is much better video compared to the prior ones. Love the car and no part 20% dedicated to a sponsor. Doing well 👍
Yes guys!! Been patiently waiting for this car to get the love it deserves! Great job gents, will be keeping an eye out for episodes on it for sure 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Wallpaper steamer is the best tool for removing vinyl rap ! It’s how I do it . Heat guns can damage paint if your not careful especially on plastic bumpers and trim .
I am SO glad to see the STi back to normal. When I saw on the show what he did to the beautiful machine, I wanted to beat Richard with an old, wet mop. Now, I can reserve that for what James did to that beautiful (was) EVO.
“If in doubt. Flat Out!” - Colin McRae I’m sorry. But I see one of these. He is the first person too come too mind! He immortalised that car! And that quote is nothing short of genius!
Yeah guys for that model on the boot / trunk lid its a two part decal / badge with WRX and Impreza under it , .. They are brought / part numbered as one part , even though there is two parts
Great car, I'd be making sure the strut towers and top mounts are double skinned / reinforced if doing jumps, seen too many struts punch through on big landings 👍
I didn't think it would be that satisfying to see a wrap being removed, but I was wrong! Also I think it looks so much better without the wrap, but like others have said, the towbar needs to go.
rear badge will say WRX impreza. the v-limited also has a front lip, which may set you back 45,000 yen from japan if there is stock left. it will have a blue protector covering the sti logo on it from factory and all hardware to mount it, so you can know it is genuine. i bought one myself in japan, sti product code ST960204S080.
the foglight covers and rear spoiler stickers will need to be ordered from a dealer as they don't release part numbers as they are special limited edition parts. Also, the front bumper will have pre-drilled holes to mount a front lip. A standard sti front bumper will NOT so you will need a 9.5mm drill to make holes for the well nuts to be inserted. It's possible to restore the front end fully just gotta wait for parts. But if Hammond intends to drive it hard, the front lip might only last a day haha.
Thank you for saying that it's being sent off to a Subie pro. Gives me a little more hope that you're not going to go all Donut Media on it. Make sure they use a fully closed deck block, upsized head studs, forged internals, upgraded oil pan, baffles, pick up, and oil pump. Do not just go "RA block", It's not enough for that kind of power.
@Drivetribe About the badge, if you'd look at the particular episode of the grand tour, where the impreza is featured, you'd actually see the badges/stickers in the car's presentation... even looks as though Hammond himself made that dent in the bonnet. As it looks mint in the introduction. @2m25-ish.
I really loved it as well. If it was mine I'd just have the wrap redone properly, instead of removing it. There's véry few road cars that can have a racing livery on them without looking dreadful, the Impreza is one of those few, and the Martini livery is possibly the best classic livery out there (it's either that, the Gulf livery or the Alitalia livery for me), so a Martini-wrapped Impreza was a match made in heaven.

Agree a million percent. Would love to see where half the cars ended up
@@kyblckwd246 I want to know what happened to the cars after Africa
Oliver. Hammond's love for his show cars is noteworthy
Most of them probably get scrapped as half the time they get wrecked 😂
We know what happens to lots of the ex top gear cars
Rectangle underneath the WRX logo should just say "Impreza", might even be included with the WRX badge if you manage to get the genuine part for it.
Should say STI Subaru Technica International
@@rickrolled09 that’s on the other side, under the WRX lettering it just says Impreza
93073FE050 is the part number
You are correct for the left set of badges.
Can confirm, at least for the Australian delivered variants of this model WRX, below the WRX on the left hand side, it should simply say "IMPREZA".
check for the rust on rear strut towers. Also remove plastic fuel filler neck guard and poke with a screwdriver near where lip meets the body on the inner "outside" side where fuel cap is and the neck comes from. Also the spare tyre well
If the arches have started to rust then the turrets will most likely have. They rot from the inner outwards.
It happens to all the gd subaru's
All Impreza’s regardless of model or year.
The rear badge is WRX on the top. The bar underneath says Impreza. Any Subbie dealer should have them. It will be nice to see it get restored. Thx for the update.
I'm so glad to see this thing getting taken care of. What happened to that evo makes me sad.
I'm glad they're keeping some parts of its Grand Tour vibe (tow bar, Martin Racing on windshield), as it would be a shame to change it completely considering the history. I must admit, my heart broke a little seeing them tear the wrap off, but admittedly it does look much better without it.

Looks way better with the wrap off. I'd probably get shot of the towbar unless you've got plans for it!
you simply cannot beat that rally blue on a scooby with a big wing. it just "feels" right
I love the irony, my st225 has a national trust badge 🤣
Yea the Martini livery just looked super wrong on a Subaru.
When Mike said there was something in the glove box I thought Clarkson had slipped a tooth whitening kit in there 🙂
BTW I think the tow bar spoils it but it's still a very nice car.
I assumed it would be a bottle of James Gin.
Never buy a subaru with a tow bar, or signs of ever having one fitted....... walk away👌
I reckon the tow bar is nice. It's even got a pin hitch! Very handy. And as the young bloke said, it's a bit of insurance in case someone tries to rear-end you. I'd definitely keep it.
I love so much how the car looks now!

I think the car was finished before they began! 🤣😂

- Look for a set of the OEM BBS wheels for the new tires!
- I am praying you guys work with Subi Performance in Germany for the engine, that's about all they do!
Nah, I'd say ditch the tow hitch. Car looks better without it. Everything else you mentioned is spot on.
The rectangular badge below the WRX is Impreza.
It's back to its original blue! Hallelujah
I hope they do a proper but sympathetic restoration/recommissioning on this.

Yes guys!! Been patiently waiting for this car to get the love it deserves! Great job gents, will be keeping an eye out for episodes on it for sure 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Rectangular badge thats missing is just "Impreza" (I own one)
the badge below the WRX im pretty sure would come with it and say "impreza". so clean with the wrap off though, love this car.
The towbar’s pretty funny. Could be useful and personal delivering customers cars locally with the Scooby 🤣
I had towbars on both my hawkeye wrx and sti, quite usefull and always fun to see the looks of people seeing an impreza towing a trailer
The sheet underneath the car probably was fitted to handle ice chunks, rocky road/off-road rocks n such. Smart call really.
Wallpaper steamer is the best tool for removing vinyl rap ! It’s how I do it . Heat guns can damage paint if your not careful especially on plastic bumpers and trim .

Can't be too mad at James; it was just his enormous testicles that got in the way of the brake pedal.
I wouldn't have minded if it wasn't the V-Limited.
Considering it was a limited edition.
Rear badge says Impreza under wrx. Check under the rear spoiler for rust as well, mines gone there
I thought that to ! seen a few of them around at the car events :) plus its the evo's nemesis lol
10:02 It says (at least on the german model) IMPREZA
“If in doubt. Flat Out!” - Colin McRae
I’m sorry.
REAR BADGE i believe the small rectangle below "WRX" just says "Impreza" on it, similar to how the mk3-4 jetta said "Wolfsburg" on a similar shape
Lovely Jubbly video. Nice to see a young person interested in working on cars nowadays.
Love how it still said MARTIN RACING!
Very excited too to see this incredible piece of car history have its glory again
If its Hammonds & you are giving it more power, under the WRX, written upside down, it should say "Other Way Up"
So happy to see that wrap go.
Not even a minute in and the poor car is already exhausted
That rectagle badge under the "WRX" logo is finished in chome (just the like W R X letters) with the word "IMPREZA" in black embossed on it.
I love this car. Always loved impreza since i had a 1995 Wrx sti. So much fun
The rectangle under the wrx is the impreza badge
Great car, I'd be making sure the strut towers and top mounts are double skinned / reinforced if doing jumps, seen too many struts punch through on big landings 👍
The badge under the WRX badge should say Impreza!
This video was therapy following the TV show, even watch the advert as your presentation is bob on now chap. keep up the great work Cog's.
The rectangle badge under WRX says IMPREZA 👍
loving his optimism "It's louder and you can hear the turbo's" legend 🤣🤣🤣
Blue and Gold, the colour scheme of chavs everywhere
MB Developments is your man for Subaru bits 👌🏻
You could give it a Smallest Cog livery and make it a company car! You can use to tow kook to move stuff around
I didn't think it would be that satisfying to see a wrap being removed, but I was wrong! Also I think it looks so much better without the wrap, but like others have said, the towbar needs to go.
Shoutout to the video editor for the music choices.. I love me some Arc De Soleil 👌🏼
This car made me think of how much work my subie needs😢
9:55 Below the WRX badge, it says "IMPREZA" on the rectangle one
6:45 Boiling hot water drizzled on the wrap as you peel it away is the fastest way to go.
What have you done man!? Martin is now just like all the other Imprezas 😮
RIP Martin Wrap. Looks like it really protected the paint.
Interesting that at the moment many famous youtuber show the old 01-07 subaru imprezas. I like it!
And yes, w/o the wrap it look's much better!
It's great to see 'Martin' again...🤗👍
Anyone who has owned Subarus for any length of time will tell you the rust you see on the arches is the least of your worries!!!!!
Exactly
Thats a nice subaru and that supra at 11.45 looks very tidy.
I love that you've left one "Martin Racing" on the car.
I feel like Pantone needs to make this blue official Subaru blue or something. So bluetiful.
IMPREZA underneath WRX on the left. Black STI with Cherry blossomed highlighted Badge placed at 3 o'clock next to the boot keylock 😌👍
rear badge will say WRX impreza. the v-limited also has a front lip, which may set you back 45,000 yen from japan if there is stock left. it will have a blue protector covering the sti logo on it from factory and all hardware to mount it, so you can know it is genuine. i bought one myself in japan, sti product code ST960204S080.

That car is to nice to give to Hammond, he will just crash it 😂
Those 2003 V-Limited stickers on the wing are easy to buy online. I can also make you the vector file to print it.
i wanna know more about the black supra in the back there at 11:48
@badge at 9:51 Im pretty sure that the block badge under the WRX badge said "Impreza"
ah! i love that they left 'martin racing' on the windshield!
9:55 I believe It just says "Impreza" under the WRX
I was in love with this car from minute one.
The scooby looks soo much better back to WR blue….oh and please take that tow bar off 😂
I like the blue body with gold wheels; it pops nicely, but the blue needs some refurbishment. No big deal,
you can always mount a bike rack on the hitch and go to Forest Of Dean!!!
The wrx badge usually comes with the bit below if it’s new oem you can still buy them. Just says Impreza
I had an 03 WRX and it's bonnet scoop peeled like that without ever being wrapped.
Noooooo. The improvised Martin logo was great
Is the contraction of "needs [to be] " to "needs " common in the UK? I noticed it in the US a couple years back, didn't know the UK was impacted too.
its WRX IMPREZA on the boot lid, rectangular badge is impreza, i have it on my gg wagon
The Hyundai i10 in the background with the car transporter attached! Can't see that managing to tow anything 😭😂😂
I liked his wrap , still nice car. Love my 2019 in red and black.
That iconic beauty of a car should always be blue with gold wheels...max amount of power you can get out of her also.
You need the WRX and rectangle Impreza badge on the trunk lid.
The badge is WRX with Impreza written below. STI on the opposite side. Subaru in the middle
@Drivetribe About the badge, if you'd look at the particular episode of the grand tour, where the impreza is featured, you'd actually see the badges/stickers in the car's presentation... even looks as though Hammond himself made that dent in the bonnet. As it looks mint in the introduction. @2m25-ish.
De-Martined is the correct course of action.
Before binning the wrap why not get Hamster to sign segments of it to give/auction off!
Hammond has the best taste in cars of the trio
Under the wrx is a impreza badge, it’s stock for the wrx’s/stis
This is beautiful! you rescuing Hammonds STI VL!
The rectangular badge below the WRX one says Impreza
The badge under the WRX badge is the ‘Impreza’ badge
the rectangular badge under the WRX logo is "Impreza"
The v limited is nice but I was also distracted by the lovely black mk4 in the back!
The badge is shown in the Scandi Flick at 2min 29sec
I have the same Peter Solberg V-Limited edition and on left side of trunk lid is WRX and below Impreza.
Noooo that "MARTIN RACING" wrap was iconic!
I'd agree. Now it just looks like every other WRX I see here, usually driven by "yobbos"
Yeah, on a Lancia
I really loved it as well. If it was mine I'd just have the wrap redone properly, instead of removing it. There's véry few road cars that can have a racing livery on them without looking dreadful, the Impreza is one of those few, and the Martini livery is possibly the best classic livery out there (it's either that, the Gulf livery or the Alitalia livery for me), so a Martini-wrapped Impreza was a match made in heaven.
the badge under the wrx badge is the impreza badge found on ever base model impreza up to sti's
The badge you are missing under "WRX" is a rectangle with "Impreza" engraved in
Brilliant this. Thanks lads.
Ha! We've so many "wrap" videos... I think this one of the first proper "unwrap" (de-wrap?) videos.
