Ahhh! That was my husband Phil jumping around in the airport!! Thanks for including him and welcome to California!! And love that you go to see the Universal tour. I produced the Nickelodeon version of Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader on one of those soundstages and always got a kick when I ended up driving behind one of the tour trams. Enjoy the rest of your trip out here...Phil and I stay at that Howard Johnson's whenever we can't get into the Disneyland hotels but want to stay near the park. It's a great one - definitely recommend to the rest of your viewers!

@@KylePalIo Aww - it was so great hearing how cool you guys were. As he mentioned, we've been loving your videos for quite some time. They were especially great for us when the parks were closed here. We can't wait to make a return to Orlando in January for the WDW 50th. And one more thing on the HoJo that you're so right about. They really do a good job of giving you a Disney flavor even though they're not a Disney hotel. And the nice walking distance!!!
My dad worked at Universal studios in the offices for the studio/lot for all my growing up. We used to meet him for lunch all the time or for other things sometimes. I can also vouche for it being hilarious being stuck behind trams of guests while we were just a family of four or whatever in a golf cart or an old green cougar/(lincoln looking) car. People always gave us funny looks. XD lol. Good memories.

They don’t have misters in Orlando because it’s humid and the water doesn’t evaporate so you would just end up soaked.
Although Universal Studios Hollywood is more “low-key”, the cool thing is that it’s an actual working film studio which I think makes it feel more authentic to its name. :)
Southern California resident tip. Buy your tickets online before you get there. Go during the week $109/ticket. My family and I went this past Monday. We walked onto every ride. The longest we waited was 20min for transformers, and that's only because they were having technical difficulties. We rode Every single ride, plus we rode many several times including the Jurassic world ride 3 times. We also watched both shows and the studio tour. We did everything you could possibly do. We didn't need express. I feel like that's way over priced for what they offer. As a man who's been to both parks, Orlando, is sooooooo much better. A hell of lot more to do, and way better rides.

Omg your reactions are everything! I lived in LA for 5 years and had an annual pass to USH that was only $80 for residents. I went ALL the time! So cool to see it through someone's eyes who had never been there before. Have fun in SoCal!!

I love the back stage tour at universal Hollywood! It’s been at least 17 years since I was there , it’s changed a lot ! A lot of people there !I loved Jurassic world as well ! City walk was brilliant 🤩! Enjoy and stay safe x
I get a kick out of your thing against shower curtains. Most hotels use them due to the ease of being able to launder them easily. Glass doors on showers are labor intensive to keep clean and it's easier to customize the bath when you can just change out the curtain. Hope you and Jojo have a Fantastic time in California!

Great vlog, Kyle!! Brought back so many great memories of Universal, even though I haven't been back in a few years. The hills, but especially the actual sound stages adjacent are what make it the really AUTHENTIC Universal, with an actual HISTORY of film making. Nearby, we used to go get free tickets at NBC Studios Burbank in the morning for the late afternoon Jay Leno's Tonight Show filming -- so many good memories. One year, after the Jay Leno filming, on the Hertz car rental shuttle back to LAX terminals, we were on the shuttle with James Doohan, Scotty from STAR TREK, and had a great encounter with him! On almost every L.A. trip, I would run into celebs out there... soooo cool!
Wow, that HJ is a nice hotel!! I forgot about the traffic 👀 Good idea with Express, holy cow the crowds were crazy. I remember the views, they are breathtaking 👍 Really loved the Jurassic ride. Great vlog, thanks!!

The backlot tour is what the originated the park, that used to be the complete experience. Waayyyy back in the day, everything else grew from that. Glad that you enjoyed your first visit to Cali.

Growing up in Florida it was fun to go to universal and hollywood studios when they were working studios. They were taping Mickey Mouse club when I was like 12, but I wasn’t old
Enough to go into the studio audience! Also they used to tape some of my favorite Nickelodeon shows at universal!

I'm surprised that you seemed a bit shocked by the crowds. After all, Universal Studios is a theme park. And the reason it seems smaller than the Florida resort, is that it was originally a working studio (and still is). The theme park was built around the studio, whereas Universal Studios Orlando was built as a theme park resort from the ground up.
II have stayed at Howard Johnson’s since 1983 every time I came to DisneyLand. They always had a little black and white TV in the bathroom. The pool was fun too

Universal is it's best during Halloween. Walking through the War of the World's set with walkers from Walking Dead? So scary and such an awesome experience!

Greetings from London! I went to Universal in Hollywood way, way back in 1995, I remember riding ET, Backdraft, the Studio Tour and Back to the Future, we did that 3 times, still one of my all time favourite rides!

My son and I ran UP all the stairs from the lower level at once. The trick? Steady pace and DO NOT STOP! lol

If you are around for a while, there is also Warner Bros studio tour in Burbank with merch from Harry Potter, Fantastic Beast and other movies and shows produced by Warner Bros. They just opened. I am heading there on Friday to check it out. I am going to Harry Potter store NY in August and I want to compare merch that is available. Also, we are moving to Orlando and we love Universal Orlando. So, we are getting passes and should be visiting the parks there soon as well. I haven't been since last year June.
Don't forget to ride the Mickey Fun Wheel when you are in Disneyland.

That's the same exact room they have at the Port Orleans Resort at Disney World.
It's fun to see first reactions to going to Universal Hollywood, kinda how I felt going to Orlando the first (and only) time a couple years ago. They're similar but plenty of differences.

P.S. 90 is hot for Californians lol. I live in Texas now so I'm used to heat and humidity, but my family will complain if the temps hit 85-90.

Studio tour is one of the best parts of that park. When I was a kid, ET was my fav though.
The thing about California theme parks is everything seems so much worse: the crowds, the weather, the prices because it's jammed into smaller spaces with a bunch of locals. As a Californian, my vacation to WDW was a treat for a more comfortable experience and all that space! I imagine switching the perspective is pretty tough.

That sucks you got there on a busy day. I personally would not be surprised if it's because everyone is wanting to get out and celebrate that things are almost back to normal. The times I have gone it was nothing like that. At least in the midways anyway.

This was my first Universal Studios park back in 2016
They’ve had Halloween horror nights walk right thru the war of the worlds set for terror tram. Also if you ever go back to universal Hollywood go at rope drop and start at the studio tour and work your way back to the front

@Kyle Palio Keep a lookout for JPland. He streams at Universal Hollywood and Disneyland. I believe you met him in Orlando. Five Fires streamer you might see in Disneyland. As well, as Best Life and Beyond streamers. These are all FREQ to Orlando to stream during the covid reopening.

You know that saying....Time is Money.....
That is not unusual. In Orlando it can be upwards of $300 for both parks during busy season.
I had no idea this park was built on the side of mountain or very large hills? Those are some major escalators to get up and down to the different attractions. Very interesting!

Asking for a friend, only bc I called them and the representative told me that I would need to pay for a separate ticket for the universal express on top of the one day admission- WHICH BLEW MY MIND!!

The Waterworld show makes me miss all the stunt shows and whatnot at Hollywood Studios.
We were there in the beginning on May and the cars were already there. So, I don't know if it is related to promotion for Fast and Furious.

When you go to Disney/Travel do you generally use your Sony A7C or your Canon G7X Mark II? Looking to get into videography and deciding if I should splurge on a nice camera and lens or budget and get two cameras for different uses. I'm currently considering a Canon R6 with 15-35mm f/2.8 IS USM lens. Will also want to get a drone at some point but I can see that happening in the later future.
