I wish the washing machine and dryers would lock when you use your key card to start them so that only your key card can open them to get your clothes out.

That family that’s done 50 cruise or more since 2017 had to have done MULTIPLE back to back 3-4 day cruises throughout the year. Has to be at least 6-8 per year and made up for it with the 2020 lockdown. I just want to have access to their bank account to be doing all that. Lol

laundry situation that happened to you is such a collage thing to do.
I’m always nervous about impatient people messing with my clothes at resort washing facilities so here’s my trick, I set an alarm on my phone for 10 min prior to when the clothes should be done and then head to the washing/dryer room early and standby next to my machine while it finishes. Watch a RUclips video or scroll socials while you wait it’s not too bad. This has worked really well at Cabana Bay. Can’t speak for Disney tho.
That’s why I am nervous about going to public laundromats because of that very reason. When I browse through the apartments I always select the in unit washer and dryer option because I don’t want to step outside or go anywhere just to go do laundry!

Why was that laundry guy in such a rush? He's on a Disney boat in the Caribbean! Just kick up your feet and relax! But that is another reason why I always over-pack. Even when I visit family and know I have free use of their washing machines I prefer to have what I need ahead of time and only use their machines if something untoward happens (and I try to prepare for at least one spill/sick incident per person).
I get bored on beaches quite easily unless I have a great book with me but those cabanas would have me be willing to be CASTAWAY there forever!
Regarding the maps and signs , I just think the island isn’t done yet. It clearly opened a tad prematurely. I bet within a few months we will see many improvements on the new island . At least that is my hope.

@Utravelvlogs 100% agree. Others acting like flies, no chairs, seldom shade....was no big deal....nah.. thats a HUGE DEAL. Even the walk to the island is. *I do get that though, conservation...* it's new...it needs improvement..call a spade a spade..don't act like everything is perfect.

I've been on a few Carnival cruises, and the idea of PAYING for a meal on a cruise is WILD! I thought the best thing about a cruise was the all-you-can-eat gluttony included in the ticket price!

Castaway! The laundry situation happened to me once when I was living in a college dorm. I had set the timer on my phone and when I got back to the laundry room my clothes had been taken out of the washer and put on top of the machine. It couldn't have been more than 5 minutes between the washer being done and me getting back to the laundry room. People just don't have patience nowadays.

Since there are a lot of comments about the laundry, here are my 2 cents. Usually, you get the notification on your phone about 5 min before the dryer actually stops. So if you took 5 min to get there, the person must not have waited at all before removing your clothes. Also, the dryers on DCL ships do not dry for long enough when doing jeans. I typically have to put my jeans back in for a second cycle.

Laundry is so tough in some of these places. I waited all day for someone to take their clothes out of the washer at Grand Floridian. Hours 😥
I must say, you are much better than me because I would have taken that persons clothes out right back. I’m surprised Disney doesn’t have a timer where no one else but the person washing can open the washers or dryers to prevent this.
Oh my gosh I would have been LIVID if someone pulled out my clothes and just dumped them somewhere. Wow. I would never do that! Super rude and entitled behavior.
That huge cabana is awesome! I’ve done a cabana once on Serenity with my friend so we split the cost. SO WORTH IT. The family ones are a lot pricier than the adult ones though.

We had someone remove our laundry too. Some people are inconsiderate! My only tip moving forward unfortunately is to return before the time is up and be there when it finishes. At least it’s just a tiny part of cruising and doesn’t take away from the good stuff :)

We had the same problem with the laundry. I went back to the laundry room as soon as I got the notification and our half dry clothes were also removed but the person who did it told me where she put our sruff, also undergarments and all. I just folded it and took it back to the room half done. It was grand cayman day so a lot of people were taking advantage of the later ashore time to do laundry in the morning. I had lit out stuff in around 6 am and thought I beat the rush. I wonder if there’s a bit of a delay between the machine ending and the notification sending. I stayed up and did laundry late on our Alaska cruise because I was a night shifter and couldn’t sleep anyway and had better luck with less demand for the machines.

The same thing happened to us with the laundry. !!On deck 2! With a guy (obv not you) huffing and puffing!!!! I bet it was the same guy

Maybe this is a California practice, but here it’s actually considered the norm to remove other people’s laundry in areas with limited washers and dryers. I’ve lived in apartment complexes, stayed at various hotels, and experienced this for four years at my college dorm, where removing clothes for others was routinely done. Ironically, leaving your clothes in the dryers after the cycle was considered rude.
You emphasized that the guest removed your clothes not five minutes after it was finished drying. But the guest doesn’t know that. To them, your clothes could’ve been sitting there for 5 minutes or for an hour. And especially after a beach day, the units are in high demand. The guest can either remove your clothes and stick theirs in, or wait and risk someone else removing your clothes and sticking theirs in. I suggest setting a timer on your phone to go off 5 minutes before your load finishes to avoid others touching your belongings. That’s what I do on the cruise.
Our next cruise will be our first ever visit to CASTAWAY and I cannot wait!!

The questions can be pretty repetitive for repeat cruisers. However we have seen some variations in the past. We just love how the answers given are different every time. You never know what you’re going to get with this show so that’s why we love watching every cruise

When I was in college, we had two washers and two dryers that two whole floors would share. Even then, with so many people and so few machines, we as 18 years olds knew that it was the HEIGHT of rudeness to take someone else’s clothes out (exceptions made when someone left them in there for 24+ hours). I don’t understand grown adults behaving like that

Love the towel frog! We have never gotten a frog before. Note: I have done laundry on the Wish where there is only one laundry room on deck 8 and I think that system works better for guest to guest respect. You probably have to carry laundry to a different floor, but there are so many more machines in the one location. There is probably one free for someone so they don't feel the need to kick you out! (Plus they have more dryers than washers which makes sense since sometimes people just want to dry wet swim stuff.)

I'm sure CASTAWAY wasn't perfect the first two or three or fifty days it was originally opened. Lookout Cay will take a little time.
Ugh people are so rude. If they were taken out prematurely the dryers and washers should have dinged your phone that the dryer stopped early. If not, Disney should implement that.

I wonder if the fly situation is better at castaway because there is a building you have to enter to get food and they can have more moving air. The Lookout one is just a window.

I really wish DCL would have some sort of pool area on their islands. I think the beach is pretty but I’m not really a beach person. Also a small thing I wish they would change is the lounge chairs. I never found that style of chair comfortable….also some walkways in the sand would be nice.
People are rude at any laundry mat!
Laundry on a Disney ship is some kind of competitive sport. Some people do their laundry overnight and early morning because availability is difficult. That was a really rude to take your clothing out and put it on the table. Beautiful Castaway Cay day despite the weather. Amazing cabana wow!!!
Castaway for the win 🏆 🎉 We have done laundry on all the Disney ships and never had a problem with others taking our stuff out of the washers or dryers. We look at the amount of time expected for completion and show up a few minutes before that time. Sorry someone took the liberty of removing your clothing from the dryer....not cool on their part.
Sorry that happened with dryer. Tip on the machines issue.... go back 5 or so mins Before your time is up and be ready to take your own clothes out or run for a bit more time if needed. You'll beat the knuckle heads to it. I learned this the hard way during my college years. I get it!
