My favorite verse is,"This is the Day the Lord Hath Made; let us rejoice and be glad in it". This is now my favorite song. It is so beautiful and I love it. I love this choir singing it.
I wouldn't say I'm an atheist I definitely believe in God but I generally avoid organized religion and even I find this moving and just bursting with positive happiness. I view cathedrals as a glass maker and sometimes stone block dresser. For me it's the history and archaeology of the building. In this case one purpose built for just these sorts of Royal affairs, although the buildings residents were Catholic at the time lol. I never thought to stop and watch a modern one but this popped up and I'm really glad I did
As soon as church congregations are allowed to gather in church again, after COVID19 is over, this would be a great hymn for churches around the Country to sing!
Wow, I fell in love with the hymn since I saw the wedding but didn't know the name; I only remembered the verse "this is the day " unbeknownst to me that is the name of the tune; eureka !!
I was astonished when I heard this song yesterday. It will become a classic, not only for having been part of the Royal Wedding, but because of its melody, harmony, and especially for his letter. May God bless the new couple.
This is the day, this is the day. That the Lord has made, that the Lord has made. We will rejoice, we will rejoice, And be glad in it, and be glad in it. This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. This is the day, this is the day That the Lord has made. 2 We are the sons, we are the sons, Of the living God, of the living God. We will rejoice, we will rejoice, And be glad in Him, and be glad in Him. We are the sons of the living God. We will rejoice and be glad in Him. We are the sons, we are the sons Of the living God.
The way it was performed in the video is not the way I've heard it sung in a Southern Baptist Church before! The way you wrote out the lyrics is probably the more upbeat version I heard in the deep south! Both ways are nice!
Grace we are talking about a great institution which as far as services and procedures of services and choral music is concerned it leaves your mob high and dry. May the Anglicans go on for many, many centuries to come...Any Anglican knows how great they are..rest in piece Grace. I will continue to partake in our great music.
I am just now learning that John Rutter was commissioned to write this for this wedding! I hope that he will be recognized for his contributions in his lifetime by the English throne. Sir John Rutter!
I am a Catholic and I must agree. I love how Anglican choirs sing. Despite that we must agree that Gregorian Chant is best sung where it originated, the Catholic Church.
I really love this, i never usually like choir music - however i remember this standing out to me when i watched the wedding. Truly beautiful - amazing voices.
i wanna cry everytime i hear this. such a beautiful song. congratulations will and kate. may you have a beautiful life. your mother would have been so proud of you.
William's feelings were all in this song. You could just feel is heart pouring out. Diana, in your short lives together you raised a wonderful, caring and very humble son. Diana you held back your tears as the skies were clear. What a proud mother you should be.
I enjoyed this video which is so divine..my mind saols back to the happy days of my mom and my two sisters ..The tragedy is i lost all of them when i was just12 years...This song gives me peace and devotion to God
This song is amazing since the first two verses It touched deeply into my heart that part from 3:11 to 3:54, which says: "He shall defend thee He shall defend thee He shall defend thee under his wings".
There's something about this song that inspires me. And the song suits the occasion! This is so far the best part of the wedding mass of the Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge!!! LOVE IT!!!
These are the STRONG and mostly touching words that makes me unable to continue the singing of this beautiful song...: "The Lord Himself is thy keeper...The Lord is my defense upon my right hand, so that the sun shall not hurt thee by day; neither the moon by night...The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil..Yea it is even Him that shall keep thy soul..." BLESSED BE HIS NAME AND SIR JOHN RUTTER WHO PASSED ON THE STRONG MESSAGE VIA HIS MORE THAN MAGNIFICENT ARRANGEMENT OF THIS SONG!! (;
Wahrhaft eine wunderbare Komposition von John Rutter - herzlichen Glückwunsch - und eine herrliche Interpretation durch diesen Chor - vielen herzlichen Dank !
@maestrogordon It is indeed a "service", in this case in accordance with the rite of marriage from the Book of Common Prayer of the Church of England. "Since William and Kate are both baptised, their exchange of vows constituted an indissoluble sacrament, whereby their souls are united and marked for one another".
Diana would of happy with this beautiful song sung for her son and daughter in law, rest in peace Diana , the world is sorrowful for your passing. William and Kate will try to fill the void you left us with ,God Bless .
Grace Toast,Have you woken up to yourself yet and appreciated what great Anglican church music is about instead of calling it a Liturgy. How great thou art, thats what our music is about. I bet the Mick`s would like to be part of these great part`s of our great services.
Grace Toast I don`t know what you are getting at but I am commenting on this brilliant anthem and the fantastic music and choir singing of this great choir. That is a load of crap that you are saying about any branches of Angilcanism. We are talking here about a great choir and their brilliant choir singing. I was in an Anglican church cathedral choir for 60 years and I know a little about performances and how great they are.
Grace Toast, I suggest you avail yourself of these great Anthems sung in the Anglican churches. Obviously you are a Roman Catholic whose services don`t include a lot if any of these great church pieces of church music sung at our services as part and parcel of our daily / weekly services. Being in an Anglican church Cathedral choir for 60 years I know a lot about the brilliance of our church choirs and what they are meant to achieve in our church services. .
LYRICS PART 2 of 3: Let them praise the name of the Lord For he shall give his angels charge over thee To keep thee in all thy ways To keep thee in all thy ways To keep thee in all thy ways The Lord himself is my keeper The Lord is my defense upon my right hand So that the sun shall not hurt thee by day Neither the moon by night The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil Yeah, it is even he that shall keep thy soul The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in
Thank you for sharing this wonderful moment and this beautiful celebration chant! The boys are so lovely, maybe more lovely than the newly-wed couple in my eyes. ^^*
Grace Toast,Have a listen to any music and choir pieces sung by the King`s chapel choir..They are brilliant at all their music and choir singing. There is plenty posted here on You Tube
I truly hope (please!) that brides-to-be everywhere will finally replace Pachelbel's Canon in D with this uplifting, hopeful piece! It sounds and feels more personal, loving and fresh for such a day.
My favorite verse is,"This is the Day the Lord Hath Made; let us rejoice and be glad in it". This is now my favorite song. It is so beautiful and I love it. I love this choir singing it.
Gives me goosebumps. Can't help but tear up. A new classic. What an honor to the couple to have had this written especially for them.
John Rutter is a rockstar.
How can anyone dislike.this? One of the most beautifully sung psalms. Still sends shivers down my spine.
And a collection of my favourite verses.

I know all of these hymns by heart, with the exception of Ps. 148. Have been saying them with my mom since childhood.
I never heard it performed this way, but I enjoyed it!

The Lord loved the Psalmist David, for he took captive the Heart of God, and set His Heart to flight in the Holy Spirit

@@MrWerno Um, the Welsh ARE Brits.
kai loa it’s an Anglican tradings and an English treasure. Not to be sold or sacrificed for any Archbishop.
Werno Swart he said British...not English. You are included Werno x
Its verry well speaking to me.
me too - but as an ex-chorister that's maybe not surprising
Réjouissez-vous toujours dans le Seigneur; je le dis encore: Réjouissez-vous. (Phil.4:4)
I truly hope (please!) that brides-to-be everywhere will finally replace Pachelbel's Canon in D with this uplifting, hopeful piece! It sounds and feels more personal, loving and fresh for such a day.
beautifulllll!!!!
