Great list Glen. All five of your choices are top notch. Some of my favorites would be Paul Rodgers, Burton Cummings, Bob Seger, Justin Hayward and Don Henley. Another guy I can't dismiss is "The King" Elvis Presley. He could do it all.
Wow! What an excellent top 5. Rod Stewart - his voice has grit which for me is important. 👍🏽 Mick Jagger and Robert Plant might make my top 10. John Lennon and Jim Morrison would definitely be in my top 20. It’s hard to narrow it down to 5 but let’s see: 1 Bon Scott - I know you’re not a fan 🥺 2 Elvis Presley 3 Ronnie James Dio 4 Stevie Wright 5 Rob Halford One singer I want to mention that just missed out is Noddy Holder - love his voice.
Excellent selection, Glen! And I'm delighted you put Rod Stewart at #1. How he is treated is sort of strange. He is categorized as a crooner who does covers, but those are actually his songs and he fronted a pretty good rock band - The Small Faces. Yeah, he hasn't suffered too much. He got from under a second league rock band and became a superstar. And he got to have sex with Britt Ekland and wear her underwear. But he is a serious rocker and a serious songwriter, and he should be recognized as one of the greats. Did I hear a rumor that he wanted to sound like Satchmo, so he gargled stones to get there? Whatever, he really did get there.
Robert Plant has been going through a remarkable solo carrer for the last 20 years, much more interesting than the "corrosive" '80s. "Raising Sand" with Alison Krauss is also amazing. I chose 5 great rock female voices: Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane) Jenny Haan (Babe Ruth) Sandy Denny (Fairport & solo) Debora Iyall (Romeo Void) Carla Torgerson (The Walkabouts)
John Fogerty would be my number one and I would put Chris Stapleton somewhere in the top 5 as well. Love Rod's early days. He stays in the top five, Jagger too
I really like your choices. It's great you have Rod as toppest tier. I don't know how to do a ranking like this. I mean, right now, in my 6 CD changer in car are: The Rolling Stones - Exile, so there's Mick Jagger. Rick James - Street Songs, David Crosby - Here If You Listen - Crosby may not have looked like a rock star like Jim Morrison, but he lived it - and I don't think his vocal range ever dropped!, Marvin Gaye (Anthology) wow what a genius, Bob Dylan - Oh Mercy - another unrated singer, Bob Marley - Kaya, most are rock stars, I don't know. However, I think your choices of Jim Morrison, Robert Plant, and John Lennon are top tier along with Mick, who does some shout talk these days, and Rod, who never misses a note. Peace man!
I've come up with five off the top of my head, subject to change, lol. Gregg Allman, Steve Marriott, Paul Rodgers, Greg Lake, and Joe Cocker. I guess more of a favourite male rather than rock vocalists when including Allman and Lake. Might be the first time we haven't had crossover picks, Glen.
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement I knew I'd remember someone that I forgot about. Scratch good ol' Joe Cocker and replace him with the late, great Gord Downie.
Okay, let's see, what I can come up with for the guys: David Gilmour Robert Plant Richard Manuel (and Rick Danko and Levon Helm) Gregg Allman Bruce Springsteen (specially in the 70s, early 80s) And for the girls: Stevie Nicks Ann Wilson Tina Turner Sticking to Classic Rock here.
Great choices, love all of them 👍

Thanks Bob..I love Dylan but but need some strutting, sexiness and more stage presence..that is not Bob..
I'd add Roger Daltrey, Micky Dolenz and Macca. Nice one!
Robert Plant's last 5 albums are great, plus the two he did with Alison Krauss.
Great list Glen. All five of your choices are top notch. Some of my favorites would be Paul Rodgers, Burton Cummings, Bob Seger, Justin Hayward and Don Henley. Another guy I can't dismiss is "The King" Elvis Presley. He could do it all.
Elvis..never thought of that..good one👍
ALL your picks are great, but my rankings are your reverse order.
Dolenz for me , what a voice

Excellent selection, Glen!

Nice..I am going to do a part two for female vocalists..
And of course Colin Blunstone , John Fogerty and Dennis D'ell
I would have to say #1 rock singer Paul Rodgers.
You are not alone with that choice..
Wrong order for me, but great picks!
John Fogerty would be my number one and I would put Chris Stapleton somewhere in the top 5 as well. Love Rod's early days. He stays in the top five, Jagger too

Have to add Bryan Ferry and David Bowie. Bye Bye Rod. So long Mick. Great lineup none the less.

I thought if Gregg..for pure vocals..absolutely but not much showmanship..Steve Marriott!!!

Glen....you changed the title...
So, 5 great male singers:
John Fogerty
Peter Hammill
Screaming Jay Hawkins
John Lawton
Chris Cornell
I did change it..it was male centric, which, shame on me, I didn’t realize when I compiled my list..and I consider myself a feminist..
Paul Rodgers. ‘nuff said!
Great choice..totally forgot about Paul..especially with Free..
My Top 5 Male Rock Singers:
