Thank you all for watching! Our next guest is another awesome Celtics player and it's truly one of the most insightful interviews we've done. @@violetyg2626 “one of the most insightful interviews” definitely Jaylen lol Actually, on second thought.. I heard JJ mention a few times that “they spoke with Jayson”. It’s Tatum.
This show was a trip - went from loving to hate Marcus (I'm a Knicks fan 😁) to understanding his tenacity (his humble upbringings) to appreciating his humility (him admitting he's not the greatest shooter) to admiring his attitude (110% winning and getting teammates involved, especially young players and exuding leadership) to just laughing at his stories. Guy clearly has a lot of character and I'm now a fan. This is why I love this pod - I understand so much more about the players after these extended interviews. Appreciate everything you guys do and props to Marcus for holding back no punches as I'd expect from him.

Marcus is an iron man. He plays hard every night, through injuries, and puts it all on the line. He doesn’t seek the glory but will do anything for a win. I have nothing but respect for what he does.
His teammates call him Wolverine because many times you see him getting hit really hard or falling awkwardly when fighting for a lose ball or a rebound, then he's in great pain like any other person but seconds later you see him running up and down the court like nothing happened.
Love seeing Marcus smart getting his respect in these comments every Celtics fan already loves and respects Mahcus Smaht but it’s great to see this side of him portrayed to other fans

Glad we kept Marcus. He has improved as a first time point guard on this squad. I think his defensive prowess and leadership has helped this year’s team find an identity.

If you seen Marcus play at OSU he was just soo good on both ends of the floor! My HS coach made me study his game write down everything he does as homework 📚
Great to hear both of these players/competitors talk together about each other so candidly. I appreciate getting to know who they are behind the scenes.
I remember the first time I saw Smart play. It was a pick up game against KD when he was still at Oklahoma State. The way he played defense on KD and the non-stop energy I knew he was gone be a menace. I was hoping we got him and we did
Very cool to see this done live! Although I did not see the question box at the event, and judging by the very few submitted questions, I'm guessing the rest of us didn't see it either! My question would have been: who is more fun to throw a lob pass to - Rob or Tacko? (Also, I'm a bit disappointed that Marcus didn't stick around to sign autographs after. Oh well!)
@@kevingomes8416 I know, but I'm just saying it would have been fun to hear Marcus' answer to a fun question and maybe hear a bit about his relationship with those two guys.

Smart didn't start the flopping movement, it was part of the NBA culture that he inherited when he came into the league. Don't know how people hold that against him when guys like Harden were getting 20 free throws per game. He doesn't even do it so much anymore, nowadays he just exaggerates contact a little to show the refs the right call
Shiz I forgot that! I remember when Marcus was a big prospect coming into OSU reading about him in SLAM! And then when he was a stud freshman Pg who was somewhat doubted for choosing to return to college after a freshman seaosn that had him projected as a possible top 3 pick! Then obviously all the stuff with that fan in the stands and all and there was talk on espn about how many he made the wrong choice. Glad it all worked out. A lot of my friends didtn watch ncaa so I love to tell them that Marcus was actually a star level player in college and he only became this role playing type defensive stud as he found his role in the NBA! I think it’s so cool to see how some college stars actually fit better in the NBA as great role players, and some college role/ secondary players end up becoming nba studs!
This was good for Marcus Smart. A lot of fans outside of Boston think he’s a dirty player and a flopper. Shows a different perspective. Sure he might flop here n there lol but he’s a great player and a genuine dude. Met him before.
He will do anything to win and you have to respect that. How many times did he get a huge charge to get the ball back! That’s what wins games and how many times did he get a big steal when we need it the most!
