- Cincinnati Bearcats fans celebrated an undefeated 13-0 season by rushing the field at Nippert Stadium after beating the Houston Cougars in the American Athletic Conference championship game. The Bearcats will face the Alabama Crimson tide in the College football playoff semifinals.

I still cant believe that they let folks rush the field like that...those people were frantic. I will never forget that scene, though Im a little too old for a field rush. It was unforgettable to witness first hand. GO BEARCATS!!!
I rushed the field at the Horseshoe when Ohio State beat Xichigan in 2002 as essentially a play-in game for the BCS Championship when I was 22. It was awesome, but don't think I could get enough gumption to do it now at 41. Would have liked to have seen this one from the stands at Nippert, though! Go Bearcats!

This probably wasn't necessary for a day like that, especially when Cincy was the favorite going into the game!

That might be true, but none of that mattered that night. The best season that a school ever had is always worthy of celebration.
It wasn’t just winning the championship, it’s about them clinching a spot in the CFP. By this point Oklahoma State had lost, so they would make it in with a victory, which they of course ended up getting.
After the muted celebration in 2020, this was more a release for Bearcat fans. It was a special season and the fans were enjoying. It sucked that they lost to Bama but it was a fun night.
