The Turtle Lord technically winning or pulling a draw because the Olympus Mons ran out of materials has got to be the most appropriate ending, lol.
Wow! This must be the second biggest ship i've ever seen.
Look! A three-headed Borderwise!
Second?
In awe at the size of this lad
I applaud the people who have the patience required to build anything anywhere close to this size.
I'll stick to cruisers myself.
BTW, been meaning to ask on stream but I keep missing those for one reason or another, any news on the CC?
I'm taking my time with the CC. A lot of people have been sending me stuff, and it's sinking in just how much work this is going to be. 😅
@@BorderWise12 Understandable lol. Guessing that the bug with the map maker is still an issue.
Based on the use in military English, a cruiser could be of any size as long as it is meant to operate on its own
Thus a battleship could be smaller than a cruiser
14:49
Definitely could've been built, albeit not as the solid metal brick she is in game, and not with the budgets or naval infrastructure of the time (there weren't, and probably still aren't any drydocks large enough, nor the political muscle to push through a dredging and dockyard expansion program to facilitate the construction of ships on this scale), but a ship of that size, with a bunch of Schwerer Gustavs in her main battery turrets, probably could've been built.
Remember; the deeper the draught, the higher the water pressure at the bottom of the ship. With enough draught, any ship will float. No laws of physics being violated here.
The supertanker _Seawise Giant_ was approaching the scale of this ship, and had a loaded draught of ~25m. I doubt that the 'Mons would need anything beyond 32m.
Mostly because the Mons, while larger, would contain a lot more low-density habitation space, whereas _Seawise Giant_ was a self-propelled oil cistern.
As for aircraft... aye. While absolutely ginormous, I doubt this thing could carry enough deck armour to stop a Tallboy.
Honestly, the only real issue I'm seeing here is the use of up-props to keep her from sinking.
There are definitely some sensible applications for it (such as limiting draught as a means of decreasing drag on a high-speed craft, or when operating in shallow waters), but in situations like these the sensible option should be to just rely on bouyancy, and scale armour and armament according to what the hull can carry.
Swap out half that heavy armor for alloy, problem solved.
Eh
Some of it is needed.
But spamming a lot of alloy instead of some other materials would certainly help the situation of not floating.
Pumps create a lot of lag.
@@Cobrax_x
The lagginess of the pumps seems to scale inversely with the per-pump volume (meaning that 3 pumps dealing with 5'000m^3 each will be less laggy than 2 pumps at 7'500m^3 each), so as long as you don't make your watertight compartments too large, the lag should be manageable.
Then again, I've never built anything at *this* scale, so maybe when you get here the lagginess becomes overwhelming anyway.
Whatever the case, I like having the ability to walk around inside my vessels (adds a bit of atmosphere and "soul" to my creations), so I naturally value space-efficiency over cost-efficiency when I make armour (lots of metal and HA so my armour stays relatively thin), and then using airpumps and walkable interior spaces for bouyancy.
Sooo... I'm biased.
@@gustaveliasson5395 I think 500m shouldn't be too much of an issue for jest spawning it on, but when you start fighting it with similar sized craft, there starts to be an issue.
That's a mighty big ship, although not the biggest I've ever seen in FTD
As the one who made the big yamato comment, it was mainly in reference to the fact that this was the first 550+ metre craft i had seen on the steam workshop other than it. In an actual fight big yamato would get destroyed as it has no interior.
I would be utterly amazed to see this used in a campaign or dare I say adventure mode
flying squirrel spawns...
ship fires 200k off materials as ammo and wipes the squirrel out in a single large salvo...
37 material salvaged
@@FlukeyLuke it would be like killing a fly with a sledgehammer. Or in this case a squirrel with a giant boulder
Or an ant with a thermonuclear bomb
It's like putting a trex into a average modern forest. It would starve.
The biggest I've seen the is craft The Vanguard of Unyielding Prosperity class Titan at 950 000 blocks. Needless to say my pc couldn't spawn it, but i dare you to try to have it in a fight
Also Olympus mons is about 21km high and about as wide as Poland.
I have a bigger one called the harmony of the high seas, it is 3.2km long but smaller in volume because it is hollow
@@Cobrax_x Nice, but whats it block count?
@@peterjohansson1828 700k
I have something that's twice as big as this one (1111m) and almost two times wider (132m). The only problem is that it's still not finished and it needs a ton of propellers to stay afloat, so I need a lot of time to finish it or even I need to rebuild it entirely
There is a Ragnarök remake by downloadablegamer which is also 6 million mats of battleship
Oof! Someone wanted to know the exact performance limits of both his pc and the games engine^^.
Btw, Olympus Mons is more than 20 km high (around 13 - 14 miles). However, perfectly named.
The aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN-65 aka the modern one and not the WWII one) at roughly 340 meters long is just a bit over HALF of that monster's size. Just to put into perspective how large that thing actually is.
I have the unfinished hull of a 700m long battleship that I built, but I'm not going to finish it because my cpu would burn out.
I think it's been said but the big Yamato by Martincitopants is in it's size class but not weight class it only has 1m of armor no internals and poorly designed turrets but still has enough firepower to beat probably everything in campaign
Edit I forgot to say don't make them fight each other the Yamato has no inside and would fry your cpu at the first hit
Now **that** is a damn battleship
We're gonna build the biggest battleship of all time.
I said "biggest battleship of all time", not "in history".
You are off by a kilometer if you want to be as big as an Imperial I or II class Star Destroyer.
It is not 2x the cost of the Turtlelord, it's 13x the cost of it. Imagine this vs 13 Turtlelord or Singularities.
After watching it consume an entre campaign's worth of materials in 2 minutes, I do believe a relatively affordable satellite with PAC would easily be able to take it on.
If you can just keep it running and shooting for several minutes and not immediately dies, it's a guaranteed victory.
Loved the video @Borderwise! Can't wait for the next video man! I've got some Challenges for you to use to put the SSB Olympus Mons through it's Paces if you're up for making a video on that!
Deepwater Guard:
• Marauding Rats: 3 Marauders with 2 Rats on either Side of the Group.
• Frantically Angry Mob from Falkenheim: 1 Falkenheim with 2 Angry Chickens and 2 Frantic Chickens, 1 Each on either Side of the Falkenheim.
• Plundering Corsair's on the Prowl: 2 Corsairs, 2 Prowlers and 1 Plunderer between each Prowler/Corsair Pair.
I can Do all the Other Factions in From the Depths for you at a later time, Mainly because I have to look at the FtD Wiki for the Units Names and I don't want to risk the Pages reloading on me in the Middle of Typing (Especially since I'm doing this on A tablet). A Scorn Swarm-Related Challenge for the Twin Guard will be among those for the Twin Guard, that I can Guarantee. I'll try to keep each Challenge to no more than 5 Units, with no more than 3 Challenges for each of the 8 Factions (7 since I just did the Deepwater Guard).
Hope you like the Idea man and can't wait to see how well this absolute behemoth of a Battleship/Battlecruiser shapes up! The fact that it has 56 12" Guns is why I can't make up what to call this Ship as Battleships have at least 14" to 16" Guns for a Main Battery, Battlecruisers will have Guns between that of a Heavy Cruiser (8" guns) and that of a Battleship. For now, I think Dreadnought might be of some help since it's got Turrets Between each Half of the Superstructure.
Im still waiting for the day that some crazy person with a military grade supercomputer builds a fully functional to scale replica of a sci-fi captital ship like a 1600m long star destroyer or the Pillar of Autumn which is 1171m long or maybe something bigger like the 19km long super star destroyer or a 29km long covenant supercarrier
I've been working on a 1000m long ship
The thing is, the 5th Season is actually buildable in a campaign.
Time for a greater Turtle Lord.
Turtle Prime?
World Turtle?
Metroid Turtle Prime Fusion Dreadlord.
Stop my pc litteraly half died last month, and I cant even spawn my own Turtlelord xD
A small and evasive sub could beat it. Just have it maintain it's distance for a few minutes and then go melee.
That much power comes at a steep price, I was watching the materials tick down and knew it wouldn't last long enough.
Tried to pull this off , stoped midway cause it would just be a waste as I couldn't deploy it in actual campaign battles and such
I dream of a day when we could have battles with such sizes hah 😂
Mfw my 586m long ship slows my game down to the point it's barely usable and then this thing comes along and is even bigger XD
I just started thinking big in game. Didn't expect the biggest ship (or one of the biggest) to be that size.
I was aiming way too high with my built. (~520 X 105 X ~120ish)
To be fair most of it was to be empty space since it was airbourne after all, but still.
Martincitopants Made a full size Yamato
It's not 3.2km long though
Theres someone I know who has bigger ships than these, and holy heck they're huger than this
The sub is ready and it does cost 20m but definitely beats that. I can release it if someone wants to try.
Why do i feel like a compelled weird and wonderful on a certain warcrime dispenser that was recently completed is going to occur.
If you can't beat the enemy, beat the simulation itself. Looks great for something so big though, most mega-ship builders just descend into using simple shapes.
you have GOT to look at IJN Big Yamato
It's a 2:1 scale replica of the Battleship Yamato.
Started building a sub that can take that ship.
3 times the height of Mt Everest
this is the equivalent of the mountain stomping a sea turtle. 11:30
Take a look at the Funerua Hominioum
HOLLY MOLLY😨😨
Damn, and i thought my 283m monstrosity was big.
It's definitely a cool ship, but whenevet I hear "Olympus Mons" I just think of the ship from Infinite Warfare. It's also a spaceship so it beats any water based ship.
I tell ya whats wrong with it. It aint got no gas!
imagine playing in adventure mode but you have to use this ship
It would take so long to get enough materials... XD
damn bigger than the 2x yamato
Dam
Ayo Ceasarboat!
Maybe the “________” could take this… bw, i dont think anything out there could defeat this let’s be real this thing cost 26M
I'm getting Discord messages now from people talking about battleships that are 1500m long, so... 😅
I think the most expensive ship is 72 million resources on steam workshop
My 48 mil mat on workshop 3 star rating find it more fun !!
Well thereticly ther is nothign stoping us other then cost then making kilometer long ships.
Lolol...
