The world's quickest street car hasn't done anything in over a year. So what's the point of keeping the Sick Seconds 2.0 Camaro like it is? It's kinda sad.
I realize that there are some things that really need attention on the car if its going to win Sick Week or another Hot Rod Drag Week. I'm officially DONE with bandaids and now is the time to get to doing race car things! The lesson I'm taking from this is that there is only so far you get in life patching over problems. Eventually you need to take them on head on. And truth be told, the competition is coming. Brett LaSala and the Snot Rocket just made it into the threes in testing and we keep hearing rumors Cleetus McFarland has some kind of secret project underway to take away my title.
We have four cars to get ready for some spring testing. Back to the regularly scheduled programming over the next few weeks with lots of racing videos. - Авто/Мото
I absolutely love when Bob tells us what he's not.. *"I'm not the electrical guru.. I'm not the Computer guy.. I'm not the converter expert."*
He's Bob. So.. mmmmpf.
yeah. just dabbles here and there...
Bob possesses the natural skills of a communicator and as an educator. These skills, along with his hard earned race mechanic abilities makes him a great candidate for a second Bailey and Bob channel.
"Bob the builder"
Wher. Bob onehundreadpersent
"I went to change the stator and it had the same one in in, so I guess we're not going to change that." Classic Bob...
I wish bob had his own channel that shows all his work,he explains things really well and I think he has a lot to offer people who have an interest in fabrication and drag cars.
I agree completly. I look forward to Bob's next big project Tom has him working on.
He’d never get anything done…
Go look up Greg Quirin
They launched a Sick Fabrication channel a couple of years ago. The videos got less than 2k views on average so I guess they thought it wasn't worth the effort to continue it.
The little spring for the shocks is called a “tender” spring, in the off road world.
You guys, especially Bob, are just fun to watch. Thanks, guys!
With an expensive engine (depends on your budget) it is always best to clean injectors after sitting for extended time periods. A few weeks sitting with ethanol (blended or straight ) fuels humidity can cause problems.
Run some Lucas injector cleaner like a hoss
I've heard that you can submerge them in diesel fuel. Makes a excellent cleaning agent.
Seafoam works too
Seafoam and Pinesol mixed in a sonic cleaner with just the tips submerged is the way I always cleaned them.....
Stoked to see this car rip! So much work and so many variables. Just makes each pass more amazing!
Bob is the man. I could watch him fab all day. SICK!
Be careful, the sprag can be installed backwards. Suggest you double check with a converter guy.
Let us know how well that tire temperature sensor works after it's covered with rubber after the first burnout.
Bob, your explanations are great. In the Navy when we couldn't explain something that was really technical, we'd say PFM😊😊
PFM ? DO TELL ?
???????
@@rossdunkley9791 pure ###$ magic
Pure effing magic
Can't wait for testing this year, hope all performs well ..
Tom Bailey, Your videos always make me happy, so I subscribed!
I'd worry when my mechanic is holding a part for my race car and says "we have this little...I don't know what the hell they call it".
🤣🤣🤣
I don't think Bob has ever claimed to be a mechanic, fabricator yes but never a grease monkey.
I'd be beyond stoked to have Bob helping me...
So glad to see 2.0 back in action thanks Tom
it's been awhile, but ; that was a great video! I could watch Bob explain tech tips and race car set up all day long. So glad to see 2.0 coming back to life. What is that little sedan delivery/station wagon? It looks like a Nash. More videos please. Many thanks.
Don't forget to check the clean
injectors and o rings
Great to see 2pt ohhh going back on the strip!!! Cheers my fellow mi ganders!!!
We need more of Bob working on stuff👍
Was that a rambler wagon in the background would like to see more of that
Would really like to see more of Bob's work and some explanations of the thought process.
Can’t wait to see the whole crew at Sick Summer again this year!
Great content thanks for sharing
Thx Bob, you make it go faster.
So I guess you don't need that 55 nomad that's been setting on holed
You got one of the sickest looking drag cars out there brother 🤙
Hey bob if you put air in the meats before you lift them up onto the car they'll be much lighter. Work smarter not higher. You're welcome. Best!
Pretty cool watching Bob when he released Tom was wearing him on his shirt 😂👍
Great video, great bob shirt, digging the technical talk
Bob is one of the best out there, in my opinion. Such a talent!
Great video. That Little spring is called a Tender Spring
I'll get my Bob shirt at indy next month & it's the only event i can get to unless it's closer to northern Indiana & when i got enough money to drive there !
Man. That is really cool. I never thought of using infrared sensors to Datalog tire and track temps in real time. After enough data you could have modifiers and tables setup to give the optimum tune for the available traction. Wonder if they are allowed in nhra.
I need too find those mini springs that hold the spring in place!
Bob shirt ordered. I need gray shirts for summer. Too many black shirts in the inventory. Hot as hell in the summer.
I just ordered the Bob shirt! It is awesome!!!
I love those disconnects could not have picked a better solution.Whats cool when its done it looks like it was always there
Great video Tom.
i believe that piece in the converter you took apart is the sprag?
Methanal soaked oil........remember what happened when 1.0 was left down in FL, all the broken valve springs......just saying
❤🔥great sound
Bob is just awesome to listen to!
Without the Tender coils on the rear shocks, if it tops out and gets slack in the spring. You can loose your bottom spring cup. Highly unlikely, but it happens a lot in rock crawlers until they run tender coils. Also what you used for your removable trans cross member, might not be legal per the SFI rule book. I called and asked about them and they said NO. But no one with authority will ever see it, unless maybe you point it out in a video or something.
will there be a trans tunnel to keep fluid off of the driver? that would make me happier as the driver, personally!
Bob sporting the Gold ICON ratchet... was that a gift from Tom? lol I also noticed the Banner Engineering ride height sensor, that's interesting because we make Fiber Optic light guides for Banner. And I enjoyed the increase in time lapse videos of the hands on work. I always felt like that was left out of the previous videos and we only got updates before, it's a nice change.
@3:10,,, Sweet lil Nash behind Tom.
Another fun-filled episode of the Two and a half Stooges.
😁
Pretty sure all them should ask Bob before they touch it.
Great video guys
Where did you get the tubing slugs that get held together with the two bolts?
Looks like a good time
Great one 👌
Much easier with 4 bolt clovers and allows for more room between the tubes to clear the tail housing.
what exactly are those mounts or better who makes them?
Hilarious. I love the fact no one gets bent out of shape.
Bobby could be the next member of ZZ Top... What a legend 😁😁👍👍
Bob getting to see his shirt. Love it. :)
You guys do shipping to Thailand? It's not in the list on checkout.
put some silicon on the lower spring retainer or it will fall off wen it shakes the tires at full extension.
you need to put oil in that jack for the Transmission, it shouldn't jump like that when it starts to get to the end of stroke, otherwise you're doing a great job 👍
That was the air over hydraulic. That looked like they did the air part 2nd instead of first, and you have the regular jack part for when youre close and need finer adjustment. Those pedals are touchy. You really should do that part first. The bottom half is an air over hydraulic, and the top half is a normal pump up jack. The one I have is made by sunex.
There’s a lot of sick stuff around here lol hey I’m down with the sickness🤘
I think that piece in the transmission that you were putting back together is called a sprag
Check the valve Springs for corrosion from the methanol sitting in the engine
No worries if you watch the new tonight you would have seen the weather, it going to rain all day Friday and most of Saturday. At the track,I live about 40 min away from it
Those little springs are called tender springs.
Sprag = one way bearing. found in most auto transmissions and all Helicopters.
Need a new Titanium Converter. Call Marty Chance Or Steve Morris. I am sure they can hook you up TOM
Lessons are what help people learn
check the valve springs
Question I have is what do you do for insurance for your drag and drives as all the insurances I have for my historic cars say my policy we be void if I participate in timed event (I.E.) drag race.
Find a better agent 😂
It's also pretty well understood the insurance won't cover the car at the track. Should be easy to get street coverage with the caveat that you're no longer insured once you hit a dragstrip.
One burnout and those tire sensors are reading the rubber in the wheel tub. Can't see Tom cleaning them every pass
Good point!
Dave and Nitrous Outlet is the best.
Im loving the shirt
Thank you Bob. I don't feel so bad any more. Congrats on your shirt.
I’m not a merch buying guy but I need to save up a few bucks I want bob’s shirt story of my life.
Bob is ACE and Tom is very cool even when stuff goes wrong
This man is a professional to weld overhead and keep his beard. 24:00
maybe some new rear rotors too.
I'm with you Bob !!!!!!!!!!!!
Not trying is the shame, not failure
Why are people so amazed by the helper springs? Are they that unusual in the USA?
Awesome for being neglected. Bob’s resurrection new channel name.
I reckon the Durango and Aiden's car are going, not sure about the 4th
I wonder what the secret cleetus project is that's mentioned in the description 👀👀...
Bob is the best!
What was that noise in the beginning
I assume you did as Steve told you to run it on petrol before you shut it off for long periods
Gasoline?
Petrochemicals are many. Not sure what you mean.
@@Chris_Harris It's only called gasoline (gas) in USA, elsewhere it's called petroleum (petrol).
@@Chris_Harrisyes you're supposed to run pump gas through it or his fuel system is going to have so much moisture in it it's going to be pretty much shot after a year sitting like that.. and Steve said Tom is one of the worst when it comes to maintenance he likes to just park them after Long drag n Drive events and then start them way after Steve threw his buddy under the bus lol and when you tore down his engine on camera you could see all the rust and why he should have listened caused all his valve springs to rust and start breaking methanol and even e85 can wreak havoc on fuel systems if you don't maintain them correctly
@@Rrapscallion No, it's not. I'm in Canada, and it's called Gasoline because its chemical name is Gasoline.
You might use slang to call a single chemical named Gasoline "petrol" where you are, but I assure you that if you look in a chemical guide, it's called Gasoline.
Here, let me google for you...
*Petroleum, also known as crude oil or simply oil, is a naturally occurring yellowish-black liquid mixture of mainly hydrocarbons, and is found in geological formations. The name petroleum covers both naturally occurring unprocessed crude oil *
See that? Petro(leum) is crude oil, not Gasoline.
I kind of hate how places like you live bend or use a slang word and then think that it's the actual word. Let's talk Tires and the slang Tyres. Or Curb or the slang Kerb. Correct spelling versus your local slang.
@@freedomfox8183 Oh I completely agree. He's done this before. You can't leave methanol in an engine for even a couple of months without starting to damage metal and eat away at things with rubber. Even a normal car rots things if you leave it to sit for a while or worse, let it sit on the grass.
Think of all those cars you've seen being sold while parked on grass because there's no other place to show them from. Water from the dew rots EV-REE-THING.
But look at their program. They wanted to race the Durango so they ignored the FAST car.
Steve has a problem commonly called "having too many irons in the fire". He needs more people and to grow or he needs to shrink. One or the other. Drop car and magazine things or keep rotting cars.
the bob shirt. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 love it! too cool!!
Thumbs up just from reading your remarks....❤❤
It’s called a tender spring in off-road stuff like my SxS.
Goat profile pic
@@Christoph_NTX Yup, they're called tender springs in any coilover.
@@Christoph_NTX dawgs local 231 represent 👍👊🇺🇸🤘
@@PNW_Car_Mods What does that have to do with shane gillis?
My god Bob is a freakin genius. Is there anything he can’t fab?
42:31 trying to figure out what Sick week the car ran last with a big sticker on the windshield right behind them. LOL.
Professor Bob. The brain on that guy scares me. There may be a lot he don't know about, but what he knows he KNOWS! LMAO 🤣😂
33:02 sprague
I don't see the "smells like race gas and bad decisions" Shirt on the site
You do NOT need a nitrous pump if you deep freeze the small bottles and warm up the mother bottle.
The transfer is slow and not of consistent volume. And . . . the car bottle needs to be warm to work on the car so the whole freezing to fill / heating to use is too slow. I hope you are not warming bottles with a torch.
Oh yeah way easier to freeze small bottles and warm mother bottle then buy a pump. 🤣🤣
Those thingamajigs inside the sprag are called dogs.
@Tombailey what exactly is the gearbender …?
It's a GearVender. It split's the 3 tranmission gears so you have a 6 spd essentially. Same idea as 'rigs splitting gears to keep the engine in the power better.
It’s a planetary gear set with an engagement clutch. When it’s off you get a direct drive. When it’s on you get an overdrive.
The main idea is giving you a final overdrive to reduce engine RPM when cruising.
@@NBSV1 thank you for the explain greatly appreciated
