Hey guys, today I talk about my experience with the NY real estate exam!
I took the exam on 2/19/2021 and give you my thoughts about the actual testing procedures, how I prepared for the exam, and what you need to do leading up to the exam!
Let me know in the comments below about your own experience and what videos you want to see next.
-Dan
They say third times a charm, am officially a real Estate Broker🎉🎉 for all my repeat test takers don't give up and don't be discouraged.
Congratulations Isaiah!!
Dan! I can not thank you enough for making this video, I was so confused hearing everyone talk about the state and national exam ( as I too am in NYC) All I've done the past week is watch Prep Agent videos which has been a tremendous help and I love that you mentioned them. I take the exam tomorrow and had a mini freakout today trying to imagine what it was going to be like so THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
Hi Rachel, thank you for the comment - I’m so glad you found my video helpful! I was definitely unclear about the steps to take the test and to get my NYS license too.Good luck on the exam tomorrow!
Rachel Garcia any update on your results, was it easy pr hard
How did you do on the exam?
The test was super easy in New York State, compared to Florida! There must’ve been 150 people downtown Manhattan on William Street. I must’ve been the last five to walk into room of 150 people taking the exam.. about 20 minutes later after the exam was handed out I was completed with my exam and there must’ve still been 140 people still sitting down taking the exam lol … I studied extremely hard so I believe that was the reason I was able to showcase those types of results that I have to be honest I felt it was easy work very easy exam… I think the state of Florida has one of the hardest real estate exams for real estate associates and brokers. My opinion -
I just took mines and PASSED. First GO 🎉
Hey Daniel, did you find the NYS exam similar to the Real Estate Express final exam and quiz questions? Essentially, I'm wondering if studying through the practice quizzes on Real Estate Express will be enough for the NYS exam. Hope you can help!
Passing the Real estate test is when you study hard, if you can’t study or you don't have time for your studies l'd advise you get yourself a help like Mr Willard
I've always believed Real estate is not for all but studying, you need God's grace to pass
People keep talking about Willard all over RUclips, he must be a very awesome help

How long do you have to wait for New York State exam result?
Thanks Man! Im also from Long Island and taking my test in 11 days. I also agree that it was kinda of bumming that the test schedule was a month out from passing the course exam. Gonna study my terms list and do a lot of practice tests. Thanks again and Good Luck in the business!
Hey Kyle! Hope the video was helpful and good luck on the exam. Definitely take some practice tests and don’t sweat it , you only need 70%
Hey Kyle, what course did you take for your pre licensing
I think it makes sense they don't allow blank sheets of paper. Notes could easily be temporarily hidden using thermal ink or something similar. Good luck when you get the results!
Haha I didn’t think about invisible ink! And thanks!
Ate there books you can recommend for someone who can’t take the course yet but still wants the knowledge of everything the course?
hi! great video, thank you! I'm taking mine this week. I have a question: do you need to write down a brokerage to send the scores to....like do you already need to be hired, or can you get your scores and then scout out potential brokerages?
Thank you
What practice exam do you feel is closest to the real thing?? Can you recommend one.. Thank you.
is it multiple choice exam?
Hi Daniel, thank you so much for this video. It was incredibly helpful! :)
Great video! Just came from taking my exam in Hauppauge....
Hey Dan I really like your video. It’s very informative. But there is one point I am not very sure of. My online course school shows that you can schedule your state exam prior to completing 75 hours course. Another question is that I know it’s paper based test, so do they have requirements for the pencil you brought. Does it have to be 2B Pencil so the machine can read it? Thanks so much !
Hi JP, glad you found the video informative. You can schedule the state exam before you finish the course, it’s not a requirement to finish the course before taking the state exam. Yes bring a #2 pencil
@@danielma-realestatevaluema7975 Thanks so much
Hi 🙋🏻♀️ thanks for this info. I took my course test today and just barely passed with a 65%. It really spooked me because I thought the questions were much more difficult and worded differently then they were throughout the rest of the course. I took several online practice tests that were much easier.. I used NYREI for my course. Do you recommend getting any additional study help to pass? I was looking at additional practice test courses, it seems like Kaplan is the best one.. would love any advise on this
Hi Kristen! Well good news is that you passed your course final and have time now to prepare for the State exam. It really depends on what method of studying works best for you. Are you memorizing questions and answers or are you understanding the concepts? I am not familiar about NYREI or Kaplan but there is definitely enough free material out there on the internet to help you pass. I would recommend Prep Agent on YT to learn concepts and for crash courses. Here's a good video for starters: ruclips.net/video/1eNTITuUKBQ/видео.html&ab_channel=PrepAgent
@@danielma-realestatevaluema7975 thanks for the quick response! I find that I understand all the concepts and the vocabulary... I know all the laws, vocab and equations. It’s more the way that the questions are worded that was confusing to me. They would ask a very simple question in a very backward way that really threw me off and I have been nervous that the state test will be like this.
I will check out his videos. Thank you!
@@kristenrylander I dont think the state test was like that, maybe for a few questions. just remember not to choose an answer you've never heard of before. if you didn't come across that term when you were studying, then its probably a wrong answer
@@danielma-realestatevaluema7975 ok awesome! Thanks so much. Appreciate your videos and documenting your real estate journey :)
Can you take the exam online? And if not can you take the 75 hour class online ?
Hi, you cannot take the NYS exam online. Yes you can take the 75 hour class online as I detailed in the video. Thanks for watching
Ty Dan!
Hello is the real estate express course interactive with videos or just a bunch of reading?
Hi Rocky, there are very few videos in the course - I recall 3-4 short videos but the rest is reading. I filmed a review on real estate express, check it out and maybe it helps answer more of your questions: ruclips.net/video/HyUwZJ-oKVs/видео.html
Hi! how do you decide which school to take the 75 hour real estate course with or did you study on your own?
Hi Rebecca, deciding on which school to take is entirely up to you. For instance, I chose real estate express because it was online and I thought it was a good price. but you must take a certified 75 hour course as the first step in order to get your state license
@@danielma-realestatevaluema7975 thank you!!
Bring:
ID
appointment sheet
#2 pencil calculator no food no drink no scratch paper
2 weeks to get result
In NYS you can take the NYS exam before or after the school exam.
Yup! Thanks for the clarification
thank you, this is exactly what I needed !
glad you found the video helpful!
Hi! I also took my course through Real Estate Express and will also be taking my exam at the franklin square testing center. I’m shocked to find out that we only take the state portion! This is my first time hearing that. Being that the exam will be the same as the one you took, can you recommend any specific terms or topics that i should be focusing on? also how many math questions were on the exam? Thank you!
Hi Sadé, idk how much I can divulge about the exam questions but I wouldn’t worry too much about the math and there’s definitely a wide variety of questions so understand key terms, laws, and concepts will help. Good luck on the exam!
Thank you! It’s tomorrow 🤞🏽 have you gotten your results for your exam yet?
@@LoveSadee yup i passed! I got them back exactly 2 weeks after my exam!
@@danielma-realestatevaluema7975 Congratulations!!!
@@LoveSadee thank you! good luck again, don't stress too much and watch some prep agent review videos
Did you wait for your results before setting up interviews with brokers? Or did you tell them that your results are pending in the meantime and were able to get an interview anyways?
Hi Francisco, you can interview with brokers even before taking the exam, just let them know what stage of the application and test taking process you are in
@@danielma-realestatevaluema7975 Thanks for the info! I don't want the 2-3 weeks to wait for my results to go to waste lol
When did you get your results? I took the exam a week ago and I'm still waiting
Exactly 13 days for my results
im still waiting, its been 23 days, and i took at franklin square
@@Mortadella_Prosciutto same here. Today marks a month since I took the test and still nothing
@@legoman123623 still no results, how about you? This Tuesday will be 5 weeks.
@@Mortadella_Prosciutto nope still nothing, it's ridiculous it's taking this long
Daniel this was fantastic info....
Does the license got picture
this is super helpful, is it uncommon to sign w a broker as a part time real estate salesperson? thank you!
glad it was helpful! many people sign on as part-time agents. just let the broker know before signing
@@danielma-realestatevaluema7975 are you allowed to get a license for a state you dont reside in? i currently live in nj but want to pursue in ny. eAccess is kind of wack in terms of an out of state applicant🤔
@@libbyhpwd yes. Make sure you are taking the NY real estate course and NY state exam and not New Jersey’s. Have you taken the 75 hour course yet?
@@danielma-realestatevaluema7975 i didnt yet, but i saw your vid on real estate express and will prob go with that. just wanted to see the ny exam dates and sign up first! if you recommend a certain package lmk- im also hoping that the real estate express exam is administered quickly in time for a january exam
@@libbyhpwd real estate express is fairly quick. may take 1-2 weeks to schedule since it'll be around the holidays. depends on if you want extra study material, but the cheapest/most basic version was fine for me. compare the pricing for other courses too, Aceable agent isn't a bad option either if you want the ability to study on your phone
hey whats up, i took the RE exam at franklin square on june 8th, and i still havent gotten my results yet smh, its now 7/2/21 thanks for the video
Hey Alesso, dang that’s longer than expected. Keep checking the portal for the results but don’t let it stop you from interviewing brokerages now!
Did you get your results yet wow that's crazy I'm in New Jersey and you know if you passed or failed as soon as you finish the test
@@msyemisi7930 yes, it took around 48 days to get my results. I passed :). I like NY but I noticed I like NJ a little better. I always find myself in jersey for weekend getaways, going to the malls, etc.
@@Mortadella_Prosciutto i probably would have a heart attack waiting for results. As soon as i finished the exam the computer calculates your grade in front of you it takes like 2 minutes. Thats to much for md lol. Glad you passed now that stress is over. 💜
@@msyemisi7930 I was def stressing! At one point I thought about scheduling another exam! lol..just in case. But like you said, thank God it’s over.. now it’s time to earn..
I took my exams twice on august and October, I am pretty sure that the two exams are not the same. I did so many peace and know all the vocabularies. But I felt like the exam is analysis heavy, hopefully I can pass !
Hi Charley thanks for the comment! I actually recently spoke to someone else about this and they said the same thing. The exams are not exactly the same but there are some repeat questions. Perhaps they pick 75 questions from a pool of questions for that year? Good luck, let me know if you pass!
@@danielma-realestatevaluema7975 thanks for getting back to me, may I know how did you study for the exam? I studied all the vocabularies, I did all the practice questions on RUclips, but I am still not confident on many questions on the exam. I felt like there are a lot of analysis question, did you feel the same?
@@charleyqin8202 I took my test here In Texas. The, practice questions in my study book and online were a lot easier than the actual exam. I felt the same like the test was analysis heavy, scenario type questions.
@@shavoyachandler9622 I check last week and I passed, if you know all the term, just take your time in the exam, you should pass. Let me know if you passed> Good luck to you!'
@@charleyqin8202 I passed :)
Can u take the test virtually online
unfortunately, no. you need a proctor
Did you pass ?
yes!
Hey how much math is on the exam?
I don’t remember the exact number of math questions, but prob btwn 5-8
Hi, I just took my exam. Lots of questions on measurement of HVAC's. Forced Air and electrical questions.... I had to quess at them because I didn't know the answers. :(
how did it go? exactly the same thing happened to me, I knew all the vocabularies, but the question are more about analyzing, I need to wait 3 weeks to see my result, Let's see how it goes!
@@charleyqin8202 Hi Charley, yes lots of technical questions that I got on my test. I think the tests are all different. Still waiting to hear if I passed too! good luck!
@@christinerona5765 did you get your result yet? I think my pass chance will be 50%.
@@charleyqin8202 Hi Charley, Not sure how I found out if I passed. Do they send an email ?
Hi, I passed! I went into eAccessNY to find out. Now, I have to find a Broker to hang my license with.
Was there any math in the NYS exam?
Hi, yes there is and will be math on the exam. Thanks for checking out the video and commenting!
