That was a pretty good box! They definitely helped you build onto your gamecube collection this month! Nighfire is such a great game! Top Gun is pretty fun too! Hope your week is going great brother!
Hey dude! This week is a great week already because yesterday was my only workday for the week! 🍻 This was definitely a solid box. I give them props for GameCube. It’s been good not seeing all the loose discs like the other services typically give for the system. Multi platform games killed me though. 🤣 Solid games this month and no duplicates! 🤙🏻
The Box Art hands down is the best of any other service. It took 6 months to get a repeat box art. Dang you got all the Game Cube games plus a boxed sega game. Great Box. I'm glad you started doing this one with me, I love watching these videos.
Presentation means a lot! They do a nice job with the box and what’s inside too. I changed it up for the next box and added Switch. I didn’t realize they even did that system so looking forward to seeing how that goes. All in all I am pretty happy with this box and will continue the service for a little longer and see how it goes. Appreciate you guys turning me on to this one. 🍻🤙🏻
I will say this service had been rather solid so far. So far I have gotten 6-7 GameCube games from them and only one has been loose. So far so good and I would recommend them if your looking for a new sub box. 🤙🏻
Dude that was an epic box!! Nice lot of gamecube games there, I remember playing Nightfire, COD Finest Hour, and Gun back in the day, especially Gun that game was amazing.
They hooked it up nicely with this box for sure. 🤙🏻 I loved Nightfire back in the day and the old school COD was just different back then. Appreciate you dude! 🍻
@DrinkGameswithJosh oh yeah for sure man, I miss old school COD so much. I'd give anything to go back to that time from 2007-2012 when COD just hit different. Appreciate you too bro! 🤘
Brews and boxes with Josh! lol That Ren And Stimpy game was a staple in my genesis collection as a kid. I went back and beat it a few years ago again lol
Thanks buddy! I do feel like the channel may need a reset to find some inspiration. The community though here on RUclips is nothing short of amazing! 🍻🤙🏻
They did alright with this box for sure. 🤙🏻 Good to get a case with the GC games instead of loose discs…The rental store stickers have definitely caught on more and more with me than they used to. Especially if they are from a small town store. 🍻
@DrinkGameswithJosh I have been playing my n64 when ever I get a chance to it may become my second favorite console of all time and glad to hear that you had a great birthday
This was an OK box, I liked the Ren and Stimpy game in this one and it's my pick. I do have to agree that the box looks great and they get an A+ for presentation.
At this point after just a couple months I think I can say this is a good service. The condition and quality of the games they have sent out has been better than the other services out there. Can they keep it up over the long term…🤷♂️ Good selections all around here but Ren & Stimpy was my keeper and choice too. 🍻🤙🏻
Personally, monthly subscription boxes would be much cooler if they were quarterly or semi annual. Like imagine you get one of these on your birthday and Christmas. It gives the subscription companies more time to find games that you would actually want. And it would also bring the heavy nostalgia of getting games for birthdays and Christmas.
That’s a pretty good idea…I am kinda surprised that these services don’t have an option like that to be honest. That would be a selling point for some. It would be cool if there was potential for getting a Heavy Hitter game once in awhile at random too. Would make it more if a gamble and that would be attractive to some folks too. 🤔
I never see GameCube out and about. Even my local retro stores only ever have a small selection. The system is one that I have only been curating a small selection on anyhow so very cool. 👌🏼
I had Gun already on 360 and it’s definitely a cool game. I traded this copy off to another friend. It’s hard to go back to any westerns for me after RDR though. Such a perfect game. Even though it’s easy to see where they got inspiration from.
That’s actually the problem with a lot of systems in these sub boxes. The shovelware is strong on a lot of systems. Stick with cart systems or put in the time to add all the games you don’t want to receive. 🤷♂️
The VG loot boxes are great for building out a collection. When your library gets big enough and/or your collecting goals change it can really make you rethink them. Once I saw I was just getting too much filler I decided I was done. I do miss my unboxings with the family though. I need to work on something else for that.
I totally feel you man. This was only the third month here with this service but they seem legit. I am changing it up slightly for the next box here and adding Switch which I have a small library of so we will see how it goes. Unless they really bomb next month I want to give them a solid chance over a few more boxes. A good way to still do the boxes with your family would be to do the better half box. Have your wife or daughter take the same money you would spend on one of these and go game shopping and surprise the other two of you with an unboxing. 👈🏻🍻
@@DrinkGameswithJosh Not a bad idea. I'd have to send them with a want list and a have list for specific systems. The other thought I have had is to have them pull stuff from my collection and try to get me to guess what it is.
Myself, I'm not going for complete sets but I came to the same crossroad. I loved getting sub boxes and opening them up but it got to a point that the games I was getting were mostly games I'd be okay with passing on for my collection. The exploratory value is there and it's also a good way to source to some lesser common inexpensive titles but, beyond that it's was a tough sell for me. I hope you're having an awesome week!
I am at that point I guess. While it’s fun getting these boxes and being surprised every month it’s gotten tougher to feel like the money is being spent well. It’s been good for chasing full sets and sourcing the common titles and it’s been fun getting games I never played before and checking them out, but it feels like my collection and collecting tastes may have outgrown these services. All in all GG RetroBox seems like a very solid service. The condition and selection of the games has been good. Gives me a bit of a Geoffbox feel. Had a great week and an awesome birthday! Hope yours was good too buddy! 🍻🤙🏻
@DrinkGameswithJosh Geoffbox was awesome but fairly unsustainable. As soon as he grew his ability to provide that level of care, he wasn't able to scale. Focus the cash on getting those more pricy titles you need to complete your collections. Still fun to watch to see what folks get who still get sub boxes
Yes and yes. 🤣 They did a nice job with condition and selection in this months box. I think they are all in all a good service. Looking forward to another month with them. I added another system so hopefully it will be cool. 👌🏼
One idea i have to get around the limited supply of games on these services would be to make a spreadsheet of the games you have (or need) and share it with your friends here in youtube. You could arrange to make your own mystery boxes for wach other or just so straight up trades for things you need, and get rid of the doubles you have received in the past. Just an idea that came to mind while watching the video.
That’s a great idea dude! I actually have used many games from these unboxings to trade with other folks in the community. Could be a neat thing to spread around between a bunch of other ‘Tubers though. 🍻🤙🏻
These boxes are always very divisive for me because while it's fun to get it and see the surprise of what's in there a lot of times, it's just standard games. You could hunt anywhere and possibly for cheaper to bundle them. That's just my opinion.
I do agree. I never want to be too negative about these boxes because I think they provide a cool service. If you are just getting into collecting or are chasing full sets they have the potential to really help you source games. And I typically have done alright from a value standpoint too. But I think my collection and collecting attitude gave probably outgrown these boxes a bit. Who k ow what the future holds for Drink & Games with Josh!…😂
Great video and some awesome games in there. It’s hard to pick systems that you arnt super passionate about for some of these boxes. I just axed NES from my RGT boxes because I want to blast through the lower end NES games I need. I wanted to just get SNES and 64 games, but it made me pick another system too with those ones, saying those were systems that are harder for them to provide for. I picked Gameboy as well, but I really don’t know if I want that and I’m on the fence about continuing the service as well because of it. Good luck with your decision bro!
That’s absolutely the truth. It makes more sense to use these services to your collecting tastes really. And if your chasing full sets it’s good to use them to source the commons. The problem for me now is that the two consoles I am chasing after I have gotten almost all the commons already.🤷♂️ That’s also been a problem for me with VGM and GG. I didn’t want to chose more than 3 systems but they have forced me to either add more systems(GG) or do a value deal (VGM) and that hasn’t worked out well. Might be more fun and productive to just take the money and go hunting! 🍻🤣
Very good games here, i don't mind getting games on the Cube or Xbox that i own on PS2 because those version typically look and play better than the ps2 counterpart so it's cool to see the differences - looking forward to the Matcam89 mystery box but i am not biased or anything lol
I know I have dragged my feet with the trade video. Sorry dude. I need to finish it up and get it out soon. 🤣 Multi platform games are not a big deal in general but it’s the lack of space on the game room that makes them kinda suck out of these boxes for me. It’s hard to track them all though so it’s to be expected I guess. 🤷♂️
Obviously Ren and Stimpy is the clear winner. I loved that show. I understand the creator may be a bad dude. I totally feel you on the boxes. I tend to leave the heavy cross platform systems off the lists. My space is getting tight again. Who knows what I end up doing. Nice thing about GG retro box is they have the current systems.
No doubt the worst part about cross platform games is the space in the game room. I periodically have been purging certain systems for that reason alone. Ren & Stimpy was my pick of the box for sure. Cool game but the show was wonky back in the day. 🤣 I added Switch to my choices for the next box after seeing you guys get it. I had no idea it was a choice. Although I am u sure how much longer I will be doing the sub boxes in general. 🤷♂️
Solid titles , I’ve always had issues with having games that would come in from different systems and it’s the same game pretty much and it’s slightly a disappointment cause I enjoy seeing things I haven’t played before . Now some games have better frame rate and such out of GameCube so it’s tough. I think it sounds like it’s a solid company and getting cases with GameCube and genesis is way better than other mystery box companies. Happiest of birthdays my friend , cheers!
They have done pretty well with this service to be honest. The condition and selection have been much better than I have seen out of the other services. Cross platform games are tough to track in these boxes though and even though there are slight differences between them (like most of us) I don’t have room in the Game room to keep the same game over two or three systems. 🤷♂️ Thank you for the birthday wishes David. It was a really good day and week to be honest. 🍻🤙🏻
For me, I'd rather have one $65 game or a couple of $30 games that I hand selected and really wanted over these random boxes. It's not like buying a pack of cards and hoping you might get something rare or expensive; you know you're going to get cheap games you'd probably never buy given the choice. For people trying to just acquire games in volume to fill shelves or to use them for content, I kinda understand a little, but I like to play my games. I'd much prefer that the games that I purchase are ones that I hope or expect to enjoy playing. That said, I'm not a complete set collector either, so that might affect how a person considers this stuff.
I am leaning in the same direction anymore. I kinda feel like my collection and collecting tastes have outgrown the mystery boxes. It would be different if they were truly mystery boxes in the sense of pulling potentially rare or valuable games like you were saying. But once you get to a certain point…🤷♂️ Over the last few years they certainly helped fill out a lot of the common items in the two sets I am chasing but at this point I feel like I am in the same mindset as you here. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🍻🤙🏻
These boxes wouldn't work for me, I like to see what I'm getting and guarantee buying games I actually want Shame most of these came without manuals really but if you're happy with what you get that's all that matters, if you're not then maybe give the boxes a rest🤔👍
I am definitely leaning in that direction myself. Especially since there are certain games I want and need for the sets I am after. May be money better spent elsewhere. Either way though it’s been fun doing these over the time I have and sharing them with everyone. Cheers dude! 🍻🤙🏻
Well i dont think i need to tell you my thoughts on these "blind" boxes, personally your money would be better spent on games you can see (its the ratty condition they come in, that GC game covered in stickers) its a massive NO from me.
I know buddy. I haven’t been feeling the greatest about the sub boxes over the past few months at all. I think this service is starting off decently enough though, but definitely not perfect. Found out this box does Switch games so I may roll the dice with that system for a few months to see if I get anything fun. Always appreciate you my friend. 🍻🤙🏻
That was a pretty good box! They definitely helped you build onto your gamecube collection this month! Nighfire is such a great game! Top Gun is pretty fun too! Hope your week is going great brother!

That’s what I do! 🤣 Ren & Stimpy was definitely my pick of this box. Can’t beat the old art style and toughness of a 16bit platformer. 🤙🏻
Top gun on game cube looks good - great box there
It looks pretty solid but I kinda feel like the gameplay is too slow. I mean your flying a jet fighter…you should feel the speed! 🤣
Ren and Stimpy score.....HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!
🤣 The Ren & Stimpy Show creator definitely had access to the best drugs back on those days. 😂
Another great video. Follow what you love. Make what you want to make. We will watch. Thanks again Josh
Thanks buddy! I do feel like the channel may need a reset to find some inspiration. The community though here on RUclips is nothing short of amazing! 🍻🤙🏻

Thanks Austin! I had a great birthday. Got to drink some good beer and relax. 🍻
@DrinkGameswithJosh I have been playing my n64 when ever I get a chance to it may become my second favorite console of all time and glad to hear that you had a great birthday
Double dipping games on different systems is absolutely acceptable unless it takes space from the system you want to collect for 😉
And that my friend is the problem…the game room is packed already. 🤣
This was an OK box, I liked the Ren and Stimpy game in this one and it's my pick. I do have to agree that the box looks great and they get an A+ for presentation.

Not bad. We don't really see GC in the wild, so a pull like this isn't too bad.
I never see GameCube out and about. Even my local retro stores only ever have a small selection. The system is one that I have only been curating a small selection on anyhow so very cool. 👌🏼
@@DrinkGameswithJosh Same here--someone's hoarding all the GC games! lol
I really enjoyed Gun back when I had a PSP. I hear the console games are great too. Hopefully that's the case! 😁👍
