The judges realized this (and of course the fans booed it since they were in Chicago) which is why they gave Dominique Wilkins a 45 on his last dunk (at 6:23) DESPITE it being his BEST dunk, and worthy of a 50 (at the very least, a 49).

Both were great athletes and this was one of the best dunk contest matchups ever. Dominique was a pure power dunker and his finishes were ferocious while Jordan was graceful and mesmerizing. Also… what this video doesn’t show is that MJ missed his first attempt at the free throw line dunk (while Dominique connected on all of his dunks on the first try) then MJ made the second attempt while nearly stepping completely over the line on his second try. Home crowd and hometown officiating did the highlight reel in on this day. This is well known by people who witnessed it outside of Chicago ✌🏻

The Jumpman logo was created before that dunk contest. Jordan is actually wearing the Jordan 3's with the jumpman logo on them. Those are the first Jordans made with that logo. The Jordan 1 and 2 had "wings" on them as the logo.

With 30yrs of hindsight and reflection, 21 got shammed on that 2 handed windmill. A 47 for that dunk is ridiculous.
Jordan won cause they was in Chicago Jordan did the free throw line dunk twice. So he got to 50s for the exact same dunk!
He could have easily dunked from the free throw line but having a run up like that it’s very difficult to see precisely where your foot lands
