So it's a 1 core and 2 threads And with minimal heatsink like that. I believe that A9 is throttling so hard. In my past experiences A9 9420 on asus X441BA Loves to run at 80-90°c While just doing daily task And mostly throttle down Even with high quality Thermal paste applied

The ancient dual-core U-series chip in my mother's laptop still chugs when opening things on the desktop, despite me upgrading it with an SSD and an extra 4GB of RAM so it'd be dual-channel. I'd put a lightweight Linux distro on there instead of the bloated mess known as Windows 10, but she at least knows how to use Windows somewhat.

There is a weirder AMD's APU that comes with the included motherboard, Biostar A10N AMD FX9830E , it has r7 graphics and fx quadcore, so it can game a little, but same as the APU in this video the cpu is the bottleneck

This cpu hits the same score in cpu-z I had with one of my laptops with pentium N3710 and it has 4 cores so the single core performance had 92 points, terrible experience, so terrible that I gave up gaming back then because the stutters made me sick and gave me headache. Hopefully none of current users of this apu would ever use this thing for gaming

Bulldozer was such a weird architecture. Each module pretends to be two cores but actually only has one FPU per module, so floating point calculations (like used in really any game) cannot execute in parallel.
it's different implementation of SMT, if these CPUs were marketed not as 8-core ones, but as 4core/8threads, they wouldn't be so hated. they are pretty good for their price, even though they are losing to Intel CPUs in games of 2012-2014, they aren't dead and can provide a playable experience in most new games with OC, unlike something like i3-2100 or even i5-2400
I want to test that one day, I remember wanting to build a PC with that APU to play BF3 and 4 with. But ended up spending a bit more and going with an FX 6350 and GTX 760

Im currently using a AMD A8 4500m with Radeon graphics. It's a secondary computer I exclusively use for retro games. Like half life, and quake. I found a 1024x768 monitor and it's truly a dream pure nostalgia, With Windows 7. these old apus aren't horrible if you put them to the right task.

Either card will do well in the games you want to play. If you want something at a cheaper price the GTX 780 will do as it is a bit cheaper, and the RX 570 does still have the latest drivers If you want to go with that.
It's just so fascinating to me that the integrated GPU seems to be like pretty good, but the CPU itself is so bad it doesn't even matter lol. They should've spent those resources on more threads/cores I guess lol

I believe I had one of those CPUs in my very first laptop, which was the a9-9420, and while I didn't really care much about the performance back then since I didn't know much about processers yet I could totally tell that things took a long time to load on that laptop. RUclips videos could barely run in 720p, playing games on it was always a lag fest, and using it for my editing became a headache to deal with as it would crash or freeze with the software I used, and I thought at the time that this was how all PC's ran, oh I was soo wrong. Because both the laptop and desktop I have now even though they are only mid range systems, completely destroys this CPU when it comes to day to day tasks.
I lived on a very similar PC with the same GPU and an a9 quad core for nearly 3 years. It could run minecraft... and thats about it. But I did end up playing some more demanding games on it like subnautica, and I have to give it credit for managing to stay alive for that long.
Technically that CPU is 1 core with 2 threads cuz it only has 1 Excavator module, and I think on Task Manager it says that. So if you look at it that way, it’s understandable why it’s such a terrible CPU lol

This thing was an low tier laptop APU . Never intended for gaming, mostly for office work and some light browsing. I guess it was available and cheap enough to be included in desktops too. Companies bought these in bulk from HP (they got warranty and support) to equip administrative workers and that is that.

The worst thing is, there is another power eficient of that APU, it called 9420e in I bought one since the netbook was so small and light weight not to mention cheap too for word processing. Funny thing is, even if you upgrade it with SSD,double the ram, it is still slow, even slower in general compared to an old ATOM CPU Z3775 of 2015. The naming of this CPU making it cooler like A9, A10 FX, seems like A9 is in high tier compared to A6 or A8 but it is not the case.
If by much better you mean marginally better fps in most games then yeah, only game that win7 made a big difference was for freeing up more RAM for modded Minecraft

This was literally my 2nd PC after my core 2 duo t7300 hd 2400 xt mobility edition laptop died, it barely was faster lol
And the fan died in 6 months Ave it thermal throttles bad because the cooler mount doesn't have enough pressure

I had win 10 on my i3 5005 and I installed win 8.1 and now it works 10000 times faster. This Apu can work much better with win 7 or 8

no it wont be i have vega 6 in my 5600G it is truely a good igpu in it
I have these same specs x) and as shown the gpu is ok but the cpu is thrash but overclocking it increases performance amazingly as the gpu can be used better
the cpu is bottlenecking the igpu
now my i3 feels like a monster
