On this day I visited the Edgebrook neighborhood on the far north side of Chicago. It was a nice day by February standards as highs were well into the 60s. Here I caught the evening rush hour, and some of my first SD70mach catches. I had a lot of cool engineers give me some horn shows as well. It was a pretty great rush hour overall. On my walk back home I decided to stop at Elmwood park. I haven’t been there since last summer and have been wanting to visit for a while now. By pure luck I managed to catch another SD70 with a nice horn show. And that concludes this video.

Same. I just wish they ran on the BNSF line. The Milwaukee lines always get the new stuff even though the BNSF is in desperate need of new equipment.

3 axle power at noch 8 on a passenger train? I bet it's a pig on fuel and slow to get to speed.
Neither are true, they have more power to get up to speed quicker then the rest of the fleet, and they are more fuel efficient then the rest of the fleet as well.
@@larry84988 that's because their existing fleet is 30 years old.
@@shauntakata1762 Those MACs are 24-25 years old, but regardless of age they are still the quickest and most fuel efficient units Metra has. Ask some of the engineers who run them and see what they have to say.
Those long distance Amtrak trains, are they the empire builder?
