I have noticed some mistakes in the subtitles. 1:10 should read "As I'd see I'm running out of rope" and 2:14 should read "Each put money in my purse". Also I would like to say that the words are not very audible in some parts due to the autotune, but there was not a huge amount I could do about it save for extend the vowel sounds as much as possible. However, the morshu "ee" and "er" sounds cannot be dragged into life and don't sound great so yeah sorry about that.
Even with the mistakes and issues its still an amazing song and you can tell you put alot of work into this video, just like every other video you've made.
Here’s my head canon: You see how Morshu has other items in his shop, yet he only sells Lamp oil, rope, and bombs? Those are his personal belongings. Yep, Morshu used to be a warrior.
@@ARandomMinecraftVillager He sustained a career ending injury, put on weight and tried to make music to sustain himself. He got well known, but didn’t make the money he needed, and so he’s sunk his life savings into this shop, hoping to get rubies off of hotshot adventurers.
I feel like this song shows us a little sliver of Koridai's poverty ridden society and how morshu despite how famous and wealthy he may be is just barely making it by
Definitely Koridai is one of the poorer regions in that world In Hyrule, for example, you have the Minish giving humans money for just cutting grass In Koridai, you have to kill a lot of monsters
Now that you mention it, Koridai is probably really poor (compared to Hyrule and Gamelon), and Morshu may actually be among the poorest. The island is scarcely populated, with only one major settlement, the fishing village in Crater Cove, everyone else is living pretty isolated, including Morshu. All in all, Koridai seems to be a pretty harsh environment, with high volcanic activity, rough cliffs, and icy glaciers (kind of like Iceland, if you think about it). While the fishers of Crater Cove seem to live pretty self sufficient, there seem to be not many other natural resources that could stimulate the economy. Koridai also doesn't seem to have a proper harbour, so people from the outside world rarely get there (Gwanom still being the most mobile citizen, with his flying carpet). Among Morshu's goods, I think rope may be the best selling item, as the fishers need a steady supply of it. Lampoil is only the second best selling item, since at least two inhabitants own magic lanterns that don't require fuel. Bombs probably sell the worst (at least before Links arrival), since they are pretty weak and there is not much reason for the inhabitants to enter obstructed caves.
This is great. And also somewhat sad. Notice how the days flashes by outside the window as the song goes on? He's working himself bone tired, staying up and often sleeping the night at work, just so he can stay out of poverty. The sick thing is, I bet ya there are independent store owners who live like that. I hope it one days gets better, and that such people can earn themselves some time off.
This man has only music to hold onto as his constant struggle for money makes the days blend together. Only making music can he retain a sense of self in his seemingly endless struggle to stay afloat.
I love the backstory you've created for Morshu in these songs, he's a struggling merchant in a turbulent land struggling to make ends meet. His apparent greed masks a desperation to simply stay afloat and maintain his way of life. He sells weapons and dangerous goods, and feels conflicted knowing this may be contributing to the problems in his society and not sure how his products will be used, but hopes that his customers will find a way to do good and at the very least protect themselves. Stay and chat with him for a while and he might open up to you about it, but he's so incredibly tired from all those sleepless nights. Morshu needs a vacation!
Daamn, this is so nice. making him just an honest and hard-working businessman. a little rough, but he doesn't have the time or money to waste on bad deals. just giving me so much inspiration for playing a traveling merchant for a Zelda tabletop.
I'd like to make myself believe that in the future, a successful company out there in the world will have Morshu be the inspiration for it's foundation.
The storytelling... he's on the grind nonstop, trying to make it big. The bombs above his bed, the lamp oil, running low on rope - these are allusions to suicidal thoughts brought on by his grueling hours and no rest. When Link comes by to talk, Morshu pushes him away with his incessant grind mentality. He begs Link to come back, but the damage is done.
No need to apologise for the auto-tune! I like the way it sounds, and I also intermittently get lost in the music and have to keep reminding myself that it's stitched out of just a couple of lines of dialogue and Morshu is not actually just singing his true sentiments about life.
Morshu is actually a great businessman, as you see: almost 2k of oversatisfied customers with only 3 beggars who hadn't enough rubies! I wish you'll have ten thousand customers soon enough!
“I stay at work when I’m asleep” It’s confirmed. You have dreams in your sleep, so we’re seeing Morshu speedrun or participate in manhunt. Or sing speedrun music.
i can't believe i re-stumbled upon this gem at the most opportune time i recently discovered "starbearers", created by IWALOID and sung by hatsune miku it's a song about someone lamenting the death of a loved one due to terminal illness for some reason i was like, "yeah why don't we cast morshu as the dead guy here" then along comes this video and suddenly the lore implications are E X P A N D I N G not only does it provide an even more plausible reason for his death (overwork and exposure to hazardous materials) but also provides a proper personality and gives me a reason to put morshu as miku's guardian figure (morshu realizes he's become jaded and greedy because of being stuck in an endless rat race to try and eke out a living to survive. he doesn't want to see miku succumb to the same fate, as he's become fond of her and thinks because she's young there's so much she could do and so much to live for, even if miku is feeling lost and confused) i'm itching to write a story i'd animate it but i don't know how to draw thanks for your creation, mr. burnt lamp!
