Incompetent jury of Croatian Radio & Television did not want Baby Lasagna at Dora at all. He entered the competition as a reserve, because someone else dropped out. The song is about young people leaving their home (and immigrating to other countries; 400,000 in 10 years) in search of a better life, and anxiety it creates. Yet, the song is litehearted. It was written, and produced solely by Marko Purišić (Baby Lasagna) in his room in Umag, small town, Croatia. He writes songs (over 200) & books too. First time performing as a singer on a big stage, Marko did great; people of Croatia reacted and gave him the greatest margin of victory ever. With big stage and some improvements, it’s a definite contender. Eurovision song, here we come, Rim Tim Tagi Dim!
I feel like all the pre parties and shows will be great for him. The crowd are going to hype him and be with him all the way which will be amazing for his stage confidence on the night.
My interpretation of the song; the young boy is leaving his village, love ones, cat, selling cow to afford the trip to big city in a foreign country. He is sad but wants to have best time with his family and friends at the good by party. He asked them not to cry but dance. He will miss them and everything but his cat the most. It is brutal reality of Croatia. While lyrics are sad, the music, rhythm and dance are energetic and happy. Custume, dance, background belongs to Croatian Istrian peasants (not farmers). Absolutly beautifully wrapped up! Farmers are in America and it was much easier for farmers to succeed on taken land with stolen people. Croatian in the contrary, historicaly speaking were under many attacks and under different rulers which tried to destroy Croats and take their land. Luckily, Croats defended themseve and thier land, fight with bravery and dignity and prodly stayed there. Family, community, homeland and animals are everything to us. Unfortunately, corrupted politics (globaly) do not support modest and healty style of life. I am very touched by this song and performance because I left Croatia decade ago. Grass only looks greener somewhere else, but is not. Home is place of happines and prosperity. l ❤it! ❤❤❤🇵🇾👍❤🐱🇵🇾👌MEOW
To be fair the main reason why Käärijä didn't win last year was because Loreen scored all the jury points, not really because the jury didn't give Käärijä points (he was 4th with the jury after all). Generally all in the top, besides Loreen, had somewhat similar amount of points from the jury. So far there isn't any strong takeaway jury songs this year like Loreen that would take all the points (and even if there was, it would still require a lot of televotes to win). So if Baby Lasagna just gets a similar score like Käärijä, it is very possible that he'll landslide with the televote and wins.
This is true! I guess Loreen really is a rare case of absolutely smashing the jury in a way we’ve never seen before, which doesn’t happen often. It’s going to be an exciting year either way, I feel like there’s quite a handful of contenders!
So the Jury (not) voting could do that...We don't know if this song is going to win in tight results with (Iceland, Switzerland, Malta..etc) or it's going to smash it and win with a lot of points.
I always think with national finals like DORA, where there’s so many entries, they don’t necessarily have the budget for every performance. Now they only have to focus on Baby Lasagne so I definitely think the staging will be tightened and improved! Fingers crossed 🤞🏼
The first thing that struck me about the performance was the resemblance to last years Cha-cha-cha! I mean puffy arms, the type of song, the nonsens lyrics and he even does the ’’Kärijä headbanging’’! Almost a rip-off in a way, but ok, it is a little bit catchy…

This guy didn't even listen the song. He was just looking at the staging and he said in the beginning we will stop comparing this to Kariaa and he just compared it at the endd of the video. Im not sure if i should watch any other video on this channel. ✌️
I didn’t compare the song to Kaarija, I compared how it will fare with the juries. The song doesn’t sound like Cha Cha Cha but I feel like it’ll run into similar problems with jury support. I also commented on the song constantly throughout the video.
