It has low hp, a nasty weakness to Stealth Rock and general vulnerability to all types of chip damage aside from Sand, has no recovery, and doesn't have many moves to actually do stuff with. It would just be a Shuckle that's slightly better at being a hazard setter

It requires 2 turns of setup in a game where even 1 turn of setup can be hard to get at times, and on top of that, you're still really slow (and despite Shuckle's defenses, it's not a good hit taker because of its low HP), so chances are really high that if you try this you'll effectively just sacrifice your Shuckle for nothing. Pokemon that are really powerful theoretically, but have no way to really use that power (due to speed, weaknesses, lack of bulk, or all of the above) are really bad. Rampardos for example is a really powerful Pokemon. Base 165 attack and a STAB Head Smash with 150 base power, with no recoil thanks to Rock Head. But it's really slow and really frail, so it's always been really bad. Power Trick Shuckle is basically Rampardos but with setup, and Rampardos could barely get by already.

It’s kinda annoying that a single item which was probably only designed for like 5 specific Pokémon can make it so certain Pokémon will never get an evolution at any point in the entire franchise.
Shuckle has the highest base defenses of any Pokémon you can normally use, because the Pokémon with the highest base defenses is eternamax eternatus at 255 base defenses and hp
Shuckle only has 20hp, which has always limited it. Trust me, even with the eviolite boost it would still remain relatively frail to super effective attacks, plus it would miss out on leftover healing meaning it would have to rely on rest or for another Pokemon to use wish to heal it, both of which are unreliable and give free turns to the opponent.
Until you realize that base 20 hp really holds it back, especially with no reliable recovery. A shuckle evolution with a 30 hp boost and no defensive stat change is much bulkier than an eviolite shuckle.
Fun fact: shuckle with full hp and def investment has almost the same bulk as base 100s full invested like mew. Which is considered pretty average bulk.

I honestly dont even think eviolite shuckle would be as tanky as people believe. It still has only 20 basehp. Yes you will hit for smaller Numbers. But with allready that insane defense, raising them more will not give to big returns.

There is a reason why Chansey becomes a stupid broken special wall, while it takes maybe 1 or 2 more physical hits than blissey when holding eviolite. Blissey only has 5 more base points in defense, and something like 20-30 more special defense. Add to it that shuckle is already hard to OHKO without a busted attacker using a supereffective hit, despite only having 20 HP. Then it is immune to fissure and similar moves thanks to sturdy, and it has rest that restores full health and removes any status condition. Knock off is really the only way to kill it. Or moves like perish song and final gambit.
You balance it with a unique ability where it can only hold Berry items that cannot be skill swapped. The more turns that go by in battle, the held berry will become a special berry juice which when consumed after your health reaches a low % will then heal you. Held item cannot be swapped. Or dropped due to being "inside" its shell. Unique. On theme and in lore.
So two things: 1.) The competitive scene is a VERY small piece of the Pokemon community; the effects of something in that scene shouldn't affect what can and can't be done creatively with the franchise. 2.) If it really is a problem it'll just get banned lmao not that hard.
Shuckle has a base defense and special defense of 230 and can use moves like toxic and knockoff but even with all of that it’s still unusable because it has the typing of rock and bug with a base speed stat of 5 and hp of 20 giving him more defense won’t help him just prolong his suffering.
With an eviolite you can get it's defenses over 800 and depending on nature 1 over 900, add sturdy and it really doesn't matter how low its HP is, it can just sit there and tank with some form of support or sweeper distraction

Shuckle is my favourite pokemon. Eviolite Shuckle is the *entire* reason I want it to evolve. Anyone that says Eviolite Shuckle would break the meta has never really used Shuckle. It's gigatrash, and I love it.

My Fakemon Region has Shuckler and Emjuicester which are Shukle's evos in my fakemon region however Shukle with evolite would be trumped by moves in my fakemon region like Revolution Throw (Ignores both Base stat totals and stat boosts for Defense) and Shield Break (deals more damage the higher the target's defense is, which include base total plus stat boosts)
Literally forcing singles and vgc players to run night shade on shuckle, stuck doing 50 dmg and the ability to literally just get a free swap with a normal type (POV if it got in S/V tera normal)

Shuckle should get a prevo. Which has to hold Eviolite to evolve. It doesn't consume the item. And if an attack version was added, then a branching evo could happen where it focuses on attack, and has some speed to get use out of it.

I feel like that's something the Renegade forgot about: defense-bypassing damage, which Shuckle is extremely weak to. Massive defenses don't matter that much when your HP is lower than most Stage 1 Pokemon. If Shuckle had like 20 more HP stat, or a better recovery move than Rest, it would be amazing. As it is, though, it's just not quite enough.
They can form some lore which says that eviolites come from shuckles and all of them are technically holding one so they won't have an effect of given an eviolite and then they can add a new evolution for it
then the pre-evo gets the violate, make this pre evolution do somthing different, like trade some def for speed, or trade the sp.def for hp and give it substitute, calm mind, and baton pass.
Ok, just imagine Shuckle evolves and loses a lot of defense points for attack points, and becomes an attacker. That would be pretty cool. Shell Smash would go hard on him.

It has great Rock STAB options in Stone Edge and Rock Slide. It has access to the quintessential Earthquake. And though it doesn't have an amazing Bug STAB, it could very easily get a new one or simply use Skitter Smack. This all comes together when we consider Shell Smash. Shuckle's always had defenses, but doesn't really do anything with them. It sets webs and rocks and then dies. Despite having 230 defense, a banded TTar can still oneshot a Bold 252 HP 252 DEF Shuckle (Assuming contrary and not sturdy(and people run Sturdy because Shuckle really can't even take hits well). With 20 base HP and a lacklustre learnset, Shuckle just isn't good as a defensive wall.
@@William256 Shuckle does indeed have offensive moves, just like how clefable gets stuff like fire blast, dazzling gleam and moonblast as strong moves. Why does no one use them? Because its other set is better. Shuckle gets contrary and shell smash actually boosts both its defense stats like a cosmic power in trade for its offense and speed, which are worth nothing to it, but it isnt run because its sacrificable and switchable set make it usable. It's role as a support is literally to web, rocks, toxic and die, in order for a stronger pokemon or a setup sweeper to come in and help clean up the game. Assume that we do give shuckle, the defensive monster with the same typing as crustle, ANOTHER shell smash sweeper that you happen to want crustle to share the exact same role with... shuckle fits the role of being able to live long enough to set up and not be too bulky as to not be sacrificable and not hold the team up. Shuckle isn't used often because of other pokemon that also fit the role well or counterplay thats been established like defog and rapid spin, both commonly run BECAUSE of how broken hazards are, as well as toxic stall being broken in a singles format too, as well as being paired with the fact that shuckle is specifically for its role and takes up a spot in the team that could be held by an offensive attacker or mon that helps the team more in singles (say, air slash togekiss with tailwind, dgleam and roost or heatwave). Death is a UTILITY to shuckle, not something that hinders it most of the time, and can be a safe swap in to a lot of attacks as it doesn't have many super effective counterattacks with mon that they would want to hit instead of shuckle. Not only that, but if shuckle could have more than this set like an offensive set or the potential for eviolite, it would cause mind games for such a stupidly bulky pokemon and NEED you to carry something like taunt or even haze for a SHUCKLE So, to summarize: - Shuckle is a good defensive wall, just countered by the format that cancels hazards cuz its too powerful, hence the poor Smogon tier placements - It's lack of damage is in trade for its defenses, and giving it eviolite would break whatever format its in - Death is a utility to Shuckle as you can sacrifice it to get a much more powerful threat in, while shuckles hazards and toxic stalling ability let it almost always get off a move and hinder the opponent from stopping you from sweeping - Go play crustle if you wanna shell smash sweeper that has the same type, he also has rocks, rock and bug stab, earthquake, and sturdy - Stop asking for a shuckle evolution when eviolite exists and ask for a much less broken and changable regional form instead

Shuckle already isn't that tanky, you might think so because of its defences but it litterally has 20 hp... it doesn't get a recovery move besides rest either and as people have been saying adding eviolite takes away leftovers and heavy duty boots. blissey has rose to higher tiers than chansey purely due to its item versatility.
Sturdy makes it immune to OHKO moves like fissure. Rest also removes status conditions. It also gets access to shell smash to increase its defense and special defense. Eviolite shuckle can only be killed by final gambit (it's very low health is it's downfall), being trapped and afflicted by ghost-version curse (taking away 25% HP each turn would kill it while it sleeps due to rest), being trapped and perish song, knock off, or an insanely boosted sweeper (exaggerating a bit here, but it would take a lot to take down an eviolite shuckle)

If you want to use a good defensive rock type that isn't passive and can set up, use Garganacl

If shuckle got an evolution and gained access to an eviolite it would have 345 def and sp def, that already makes it insanely hard to kill and if you combine that with power trick (the method that lets shuckle hit the highest theoretical damage in the game) it could be insane if left unchecked. While it probably wouldn’t be competitively viable to do this, using shuckle with an eviolite just as a wall would probably be enough to easily put it into at least uu if not ou.

Simple fix, just give it a Deoxys/Aegislash style form change. Make it so it could get a bit of a boost to it’s other stats while losing some points in it’s defenses or make it have a hyper offensive form which you access through a new signature move and could go back to normal by using protect or something.

There is a reason why Chansey becomes a stupid broken special wall, while it takes maybe 1 or 2 more physical hits than blissey when holding eviolite. Blissey only has 5 more base points in defense, and something like 20-30 more special defense.
Add to it that shuckle is already hard to OHKO without a busted attacker using a supereffective hit, despite only having 20 HP.
Then it is immune to fissure and similar moves thanks to sturdy, and it has rest that restores full health and removes any status condition.
Knock off is really the only way to kill it. Or moves like perish song and final gambit.

You balance it with a unique ability where it can only hold Berry items that cannot be skill swapped.
The more turns that go by in battle, the held berry will become a special berry juice which when consumed after your health reaches a low % will then heal you.
Held item cannot be swapped. Or dropped due to being "inside" its shell.

So two things:
1.) The competitive scene is a VERY small piece of the Pokemon community; the effects of something in that scene shouldn't affect what can and can't be done creatively with the franchise.

Shuckle has a base defense and special defense of 230 and can use moves like toxic and knockoff but even with all of that it’s still unusable because it has the typing of rock and bug with a base speed stat of 5 and hp of 20 giving him more defense won’t help him just prolong his suffering.
With an eviolite you can get it's defenses over 800 and depending on nature 1 over 900, add sturdy and it really doesn't matter how low its HP is, it can just sit there and tank with some form of support or sweeper distraction

Shuckle should get a prevo. Which has to hold Eviolite to evolve. It doesn't consume the item.
And if an attack version was added, then a branching evo could happen where it focuses on attack, and has some speed to get use out of it.

I feel like that's something the Renegade forgot about: defense-bypassing damage, which Shuckle is extremely weak to. Massive defenses don't matter that much when your HP is lower than most Stage 1 Pokemon.
If Shuckle had like 20 more HP stat, or a better recovery move than Rest, it would be amazing. As it is, though, it's just not quite enough.
Now you just made me want a Shuckle evolution even more, I want an imortal Shuckle so badly.
They can form some lore which says that eviolites come from shuckles and all of them are technically holding one so they won't have an effect of given an eviolite and then they can add a new evolution for it

@@William256 Considering how old shuckle is and it being the pokemon known for having the highest spdef and def stat in the whole game (and that its already an infamous consistent hazard setter who relies on nothing but its good defense stats) I dont think GF would even think about giving a bulky mon like this with its movepool being primarily status moves like sticky web, toxic, stealth rocks, etc., the potential to hold an item that further boost the game's highest (and one of the strongest) defensive walls with the potential to hold an item that boosts both of its defensive stats by 50%, even a base stat drop of 50 from both defensive stats still allows it to be a monster with eviolite

Additionally, Shuckle does have the moves for an offensive set. It has great Rock STAB options in Stone Edge and Rock Slide. It has access to the quintessential Earthquake. And though it doesn't have an amazing Bug STAB, it could very easily get a new one or simply use Skitter Smack. This all comes together when we consider Shell Smash.
Shuckle's always had defenses, but doesn't really do anything with them. It sets webs and rocks and then dies. Despite having 230 defense, a banded TTar can still oneshot a Bold 252 HP 252 DEF Shuckle (Assuming contrary and not sturdy(and people run Sturdy because Shuckle really can't even take hits well). With 20 base HP and a lacklustre learnset, Shuckle just isn't good as a defensive wall.
@@William256 Shuckle does indeed have offensive moves, just like how clefable gets stuff like fire blast, dazzling gleam and moonblast as strong moves. Why does no one use them? Because its other set is better. Shuckle gets contrary and shell smash actually boosts both its defense stats like a cosmic power in trade for its offense and speed, which are worth nothing to it, but it isnt run because its sacrificable and switchable set make it usable. It's role as a support is literally to web, rocks, toxic and die, in order for a stronger pokemon or a setup sweeper to come in and help clean up the game. Assume that we do give shuckle, the defensive monster with the same typing as crustle, ANOTHER shell smash sweeper that you happen to want crustle to share the exact same role with... shuckle fits the role of being able to live long enough to set up and not be too bulky as to not be sacrificable and not hold the team up. Shuckle isn't used often because of other pokemon that also fit the role well or counterplay thats been established like defog and rapid spin, both commonly run BECAUSE of how broken hazards are, as well as toxic stall being broken in a singles format too, as well as being paired with the fact that shuckle is specifically for its role and takes up a spot in the team that could be held by an offensive attacker or mon that helps the team more in singles (say, air slash togekiss with tailwind, dgleam and roost or heatwave). Death is a UTILITY to shuckle, not something that hinders it most of the time, and can be a safe swap in to a lot of attacks as it doesn't have many super effective counterattacks with mon that they would want to hit instead of shuckle. Not only that, but if shuckle could have more than this set like an offensive set or the potential for eviolite, it would cause mind games for such a stupidly bulky pokemon and NEED you to carry something like taunt or even haze for a SHUCKLE
So, to summarize:
- Shuckle is a good defensive wall, just countered by the format that cancels hazards cuz its too powerful, hence the poor Smogon tier placements
- It's lack of damage is in trade for its defenses, and giving it eviolite would break whatever format its in
- Death is a utility to Shuckle as you can sacrifice it to get a much more powerful threat in, while shuckles hazards and toxic stalling ability let it almost always get off a move and hinder the opponent from stopping you from sweeping
- Go play crustle if you wanna shell smash sweeper that has the same type, he also has rocks, rock and bug stab, earthquake, and sturdy
- Stop asking for a shuckle evolution when eviolite exists and ask for a much less broken and changable regional form instead

Shuckle already isn't that tanky, you might think so because of its defences but it litterally has 20 hp... it doesn't get a recovery move besides rest either and as people have been saying adding eviolite takes away leftovers and heavy duty boots. blissey has rose to higher tiers than chansey purely due to its item versatility.

Sturdy makes it immune to OHKO moves like fissure. Rest also removes status conditions. It also gets access to shell smash to increase its defense and special defense.
Eviolite shuckle can only be killed by final gambit (it's very low health is it's downfall), being trapped and afflicted by ghost-version curse (taking away 25% HP each turn would kill it while it sleeps due to rest), being trapped and perish song, knock off, or an insanely boosted sweeper (exaggerating a bit here, but it would take a lot to take down an eviolite shuckle)

If you want to use a good defensive rock type that isn't passive and can set up, use Garganacl

How? Nothing he said was wrong. If shuckle got an evolution and gained access to an eviolite it would have 345 def and sp def, that already makes it insanely hard to kill and if you combine that with power trick (the method that lets shuckle hit the highest theoretical damage in the game) it could be insane if left unchecked. While it probably wouldn’t be competitively viable to do this, using shuckle with an eviolite just as a wall would probably be enough to easily put it into at least uu if not ou.

Simple fix, just give it a Deoxys/Aegislash style form change. Make it so it could get a bit of a boost to it’s other stats while losing some points in it’s defenses or make it have a hyper offensive form which you access through a new signature move and could go back to normal by using protect or something.
Knowing how they did dunsparces evolution so dirty, they'd name it shuckluckle and it would just get bigger with more arms and heads 😂
