Lovely clear water probably causes more problems with happy plants tangling themselves on the boats than the chocolate water. So many great bridges to see thanks Tim and Sam.

Thank you for the view from your eyes. This was a beautiful cruise. It was refreshing to see this part of the canal, from your young adventurous attitude. 🥰
Quote of the week ..that's frogs 🐸 for you ...your lucky chuggels isn't a toad otherwise you would really be in trouble. We never actually saw Rueben leave are you sure he isn't still aboard?
Thanks for the grear vlog. You're first narrowboaters to show us that roundabout on the Birmingham canal; very interesting. How are plans coming for your Christmas dinner? Having another competition to see who cooks what for Christmas?
I penned my comments below because Brum is so often ignored by visiting boaters - but the waterway is so well insulated from the 'challenges' of modern living that even what people free are the pits of urban living are even pleasant when viewed by boat. We've been boating for 30+ and still find Brum a magnet well worth a regular visit especially as 2021 has / is seeing a lot of urban restructuring makinf overnight stays in Gas Street / indoor arena almost pleasant (!!) - certainly quiet at night (in the right spot)
Good to see you Sam and Tim, really interesting section of your trip- so much to see and you accomplished so much❗️ Look forward to seeing some of northern England and stay safe out there, On your amazing journey ❣️💕
Hi Sam, Tim, another great Vlog. Re: The clear waters around Birmingham The Birmingham Canals Navigation (BCN) are higher than the other canals, hence all the locks. To keep levels up, water is pumped in from reservoirs via a pumping station near Bradley Workshops, which lifts water from underground springs to supply the Wednesbury Oak Canal and, through that canal, the Wolverhampton Level. The fresh water from the springs make for exceptionally clear water. Some of those locks were very tight, I suppose its unavoidable to slightly touch the walls of the lock as you enter into them? So this week you had another race, this time with the Sun, and you won. Will you treat yourself with more Freddo's. Really enjoyed the cruise and the great bridges. It seems that around any large town, Birmingham, Liverpool etc, the water vegetation seems very dense, I wonder what the reason is for that? Take care both.
Thank you very much FP for the useful information. That makes sense! Really was nice to chug in clear water. The locks were quite difficult to steer into! Always good when a get a zero bump entrance into a single lock :)
I live in West Bromwich, less than a mile walk to Galton Valley and haven’t been there for years, if I leave my flat I can walk down to Sandwell & Dudley station in 5 minutes , it’s a lovely area and blessed to have so many canals, thanks for sharing, nice video
It was great to meet you both and thank you for letting me come aboard your narrowboat and also including me in your vlogg any chance that you still got the photograph of me and tim that you could send me in a email
Fantastic! I really enjoyed the video and sympathize with the boat hires. I wondered, at the time you were saying that they were having 2nd thoughts, why you didn’t offer to pair with them going up the locks. When you arrived at the 1st one and said they were single locks I understood why. Several narrowboat vloggers have gone up that way this year and many had concerns about Birmingham and the Wolverhampton moorings. But after being assured by passing narrowboaters who just left the questionable moorings they took a chance and enjoyed the stop. Hopefully the troubles they had are problems of the past. I seem to remember someone saying that they were cracking down on things, about a year ago. It had reached the point where people hurried past, which would have hurt the businesses that depended on canal traffic for their livelihood. I wonder if that is the area where large children hurled rocks at passing narrowboat pilots. I was just listening to someone talking about how much more pleasant it was only a week ago. I can’t remember for sure but your island is so much bigger than this little country called the U.S. that I can’t keep track. Well done making it through before it was too dark to see. I am impressed!
Thanks for another great vlog guys. Other people remarked about the mix of old and new architecture, especially the bridges. How true. The mural question. Possibly the actual reason Chuggles was annoyed with you for neglecting his famous work, Reservoir Frogs. However, that was a "Muriel" (cf Hilda Ogden) depicting Pulp Fiction.
Really love your vlog. . . So uplifting and fun. You did an amazing job Sam with all those locks . . . You deserve an extra glass of sherry !!. Take care and see you soon guys.

What is that wall that comes into view at approximately 4:36? It almost looks like a median dividing two sides of the canal. It would be great to hear a little bit more about the history of some of those spectacular bridges.. For example, who was the architect? Is this the first bridge to cross at this location or Have there been previous bridges? Why did the architect choose this particular style for the bridge?
Hi Laurel, yes that divider was very interesting. We don't have any information on it. We did mention the Galton Bridge was by Thomas Telford.
