Its finally complete. Hope everyone enjoys and has a Happy Halloween.
when is lost episode iceberg part 2 coming out?
Interesting theory. Kind of reminds me of the Lost Episodes creepypasta, where they were all made by one guy who had a weird fascination for cutting tapes.
sacrow i found an ad about this vid
What If Red met and attacked Shin Godzilla? Could he possibly kill Shin or, would Shin just keep adapting to Red's attacks.
No one's bought this up before. I don't think.

My favorite aspects about NES Godzilla is just how utterly surreal it is compared to other creepypastas. Most game creepypastas would just make their haunted games look like Zenith and barely anything else.
I’m sorry
@@THEDIVINEMISCARRIAGE victim #1?
True, in your face horror and terror isn't the only way to disturb the player. Sometimes the best ways are to just present something utterly bizarre and close enough to normal to unsettle us. That's why I feel that Dementia and Entropy are the most interesting, their stages are not about outright horror, but disturbing uneasiness (the gold labyrinth, the indigo cliffs with the mass unaliving bobbleheads, snow forest with dead creatures, etc.)
@@HeroSword_PIt's kinda uncanny, in a sense. Especially when Zach states that he feels as if he's actually in another world.
One of my favorite theories for the ending is that the blue angel is not in fact Melissa, but another otherworldly entity like Red trapped in the game. While benevolent, it was bound by the same rules as Red, so it had to manipulate Zachary into freeing it by disguising itself as his deceased girlfriend.
I like that theory a lot actually.
That sounds like a better ending than the one we got tbh
Hm...interesting.
That theory kinda actually makes sense when you really think about it
So it called itself Melissa _just_ to make Zachary trust it in some way.
I can dig it. Especially since we don't know in what way Melissa was related to the game, other than the name drops and vague appearances to her. We don't even know if she even owned the cartridge.
i know its supposed to be scary but Red looking straight at the protagonist when calling him an asshole is really funny to me
I can see how that would be funny. It's pretty rude of him.
"Heard you were talking shit"
Red looks at him like “listen here you little shit”
Scared me.
The fact that his mouth is as closed as it'll get is the icing on the cake. Sells the 'teeth clenched death stare' bit.
One of my favourite part of this creepypasta is how the organic level has never been called "hyper realistic" once
"What the hell does hyperrealistic even mean?"
-fleetway super sonic
oh my god i never thought about that, it really highlights how well written this creepypasta is
The closest it comes is calling it "semi-realistic" once, which is pretty apt because look at it
I think what makes the run level so creepy is the actual fact that it tells you to run. I haven't seen every Godzilla movie but from the ones I've seen Godzilla doesn't seem like the type of character to run from an enemy. The fact Godzilla does have to run away in these levels shows how dangerous and terrifying the red monster is.
How do you want to *die*
@@redcreepypastanes3355 Oh shit.
Yeah. The only time I can recall Godzilla ever outright running was his first round with MechaGodzilla in the Showa series, and that was only after MG unloaded enough firepower on him to level all of Europe, and he later came back for another go anyway. Otherwise he typically stands his ground when he's outmatched and goes down kicking and screaming. Even Destoroyah, who's basically walking kryptonite to Godzilla and outright killed him (or at least sped up the process), only managed to piss him off at most.
@@splitjawjanitor5369 I would say "piss him off" is an understatement.

Love how Red added not only his own (unsettling) bosses into the game, but Titano, Biollante, and in the playable version, Destroyah (who so happens to come RIGHT before the big bad...). Makes you wonder- how did he find out about them? How much does he really know? Did he tap into Zach's kaiju knowledge, or... is he lurking on the Internet...?
He just really likes godzilla
@@shaynehughes6645 i can only imagine red just looking at the Godzilla wiki
The game itself seems aware of the Godzilla franchise, Red is just one entity living in its “world”. The sequel states that the only constant among the personalized game worlds is Godzilla monsters
The sequel confirms that the game is personalized to it's user, so it's most likely a case of it reading Zach's mind
@@quiteabizarreone6441 But that begs the question, if the entire game was personalized for Zach, including Red, then how come the latter knew of Zach? And most importantly, how did Red get so much power over the game that he managed to manipulate and kill Melissa?
Personally I don't think there's any "mystery" with "STILL THE BEST 1973," it's something entirely personal to the *character* of Solomon. I always read it as Solomon himself putting that end of level card up and saying that out loud. From an out of universe perspective I think it was just something random made up to be wholly of the character, to give this weird man-bat some personality. And for me, it absolutely worked!
Apparently the creator didn't mean anything with it and just put it in for a laugh and to see if people would turn it into a meme. Mission accomplished, I'd say.
Yeah, I always interpreted it as an homage to weird, poorly-translated messages in older games like "I am error" or "all your base are belong to us".

your theory at the end reminds me of this old story i read when i was going through my creepypasta phase as a teenager, about how all the "scary lost episode" creepypastas are actually made by this kid who loved video editing and became obsessed with making creepy, disturbing versions of cartoons by splicing together episodes and random footage and photos after his best friend showed him an edited episode of lassie with the ending of old yeller spliced in that he would hide among the regular vhs tapes at the video store they worked at

@Sacrow
RED: This monster represents the destruction of one's moral compass and is the culmination of Zachary's buried sin that he has to push through. This actually gives this monster purpose, unlike almost all gaming creepypastas where they just put in a demonic figure just because. Even after he defeats RED, Zachary still cannot stop thinking about the game and it starts to affect his normal life in a negative way. That's why he said that he didn't care how the game was going to be sold away from him or how selfish he wanted this to happen, but he just wanted it out of his life. Finally, this monster, the chase levels, and the painful final fight is the exact representation of that sometimes you cannot outrun your past.
That doesn't make any sense though, in the story red says that he killed Melissa which means that he is clearly separate from Zachary and doesn't have anything to do with his "buried sin". And even if he was his "buried sin" then how would an abstract concept be able to kill someone?
@@hjk4583Abstract concepts can kill…considering that grief and depression is capable of such by either distracting someone while they’re on or near a road…or through suicide.
@@arthurpettigrew3074 Hnmmm... I don't know any murderers that go by the name of "grief" or "depression", do you?
I'd honestly say this is one of the better gaming creepypastas out there just because the narrator is very human. Chalking things up as glitches and even when Red looks at him for talking mad smack for someone in cursing distance, he assumes it's chance that something so spooky happened.
Zachary’s a Godzilla fan, much like everyone else
He’s a fan of the newer games, but doesn’t mind playing the classics
@@Hats502He’d never played a glitchy or hacked game. But he doesn’t think he wants to, not after what he saw.

Oooh I got an idea. The guy who's selling these cursed shady games is a yet to be discovered SCP
That is a cool idea. Bring all of the worlds together.
Hmm, not a bad idea, but I always thought of haunted games to be SCPs in and of themselfes.
Maybe we have a sort of Dr. Wondertainment guy on our hands.
I personally disagree. I believe this story and the cartridge should be kept as its own seperate creation rather than being just....absorbed into SCP.
@@Sacrow what if every single creepy rom was made by this “guy” such as I hate you and other Verisons of the game like that Maybe he even made the “perfect gam”
@@yith2116 yeah, every time something is supernatural, a bunch of kids make it all about SCP, THE most overrated science fiction franchise
Honestly red turning at the guy after being called a asshole is funny like i imagine red being offended and feeling like him being called as asshole was uncalled for when red was just doing his job or something.
That made me imagine whoever cursed this cartridge/made it putting out an employment add with a summoning circle or something for a demonic bounty hunter
And the bat monster (forgot their name already) is a rival that keeps getting "employee of the month"
To me, horror is at its finest when it deals with deep, personal traumas. Anyone can throw you a bunch of blood, some monsters, ghosts or demons and call it a day. I mean, that works fine most of the time. But when the source of horror in a story attacks the protagonist with their own personal demons, it's a lot more serious and terrifying. It's no coincidence that some of the most acclaimed pieces of horror fiction use that tactic, like the Silent Hill series and some of Stephen King novels.
NES Godzilla Creepypasta simply takes that approach to the next level; all garnished with some great worldbuilding, great suspense and a very good use of spritework to make the horror much more palatable. So much that, by the time we get to Zenith - where the story starts to get a little cliched, we're too invested and horrified to really complain.
That's why it's my personal favourite creepypasta of all time and even one of the scariest pieces of fiction I've seen.
I dont mind the whole Melissa thing tbh, but it was executed rather poorly. Her being able to directly talk/communicate to Zach made things abit cheesy. But overall its still a really good creepypasta. (i like the part where the moonbeast design and motif represents what exactly happened on the night of Melissa's final episode)
Its rushed.
same, the noticable black spot representing the tire mark on melissa was an horrific detail
Wait i never noticed that
Even the for game made in 1988 the graphics were pretty damn good.
Yeah, I agree.
Yeah but keep in mind most stuff in the creepypasta wasn't in the original 1988 game, and would be way too much for an NES cartridge. Idk whether the author didn't know NES limitations or they thought the graphical effects on an NES game added to the supernatural creepypasta theme
@@KyrosTheWolf oh yeah I know that. I even completed the actual game while going through the pasta.
I love how pissed red looks when he gets called an asshole. Like he has this “the duck you just call me?” Face like when you swear at a parent.
People hate the ending but I think it's fun. But, I love corny stuff so maybe that's it
Agreed, also gaming creepypastas never have happy endings so the big win at the end is much more unique than Zachary just dying
I don't know, it just kind of seemed like lazy writing to me. It is much easier to end a story with "and then they conquered the big bad monster and everyone lived (except for Melissa) happily ever after." then creating a profound ending to top it all off but that's just me
@@hjk4583 the only other option in that situation is “the bad guy kills the hero and wins and everything sucks” which I would argue is even lazier, especially for a horror story
@@Cdr2002 Well it only takes a little bit of thinking to realize that the possibilities of a good ending are endless. Like what if Zach succumbs to red and gets trapped in the game forever? What if he saves Melissa but red is secretly still controlling her or red has posessed her body? What if red turns out to be more than just some kind of demon that lives in a videogame that has killed Melissa, like he is some god or eldritch creature that we could not possibly understand? You can see there is much more possibilities than everyone lives happily ever after or everyone dies and things suck
how to avoid the "creepypasta ending probrem" make it a happy ending not a bad one oh wait now you have the "movie ending probrem" to fix this make it a bad ending not a good ending

Nice. This creepypasta is pretty good. The only thing questionable for me is the ending, which I won't spoil here. XD
I'll reply to myself for anybody who wants to know my opinion.
what is it
@@Fjdjfjsz92938 Well, I'm sure the video goes over it, but it's basically this. The final showdown with Red involves Zach feeling actual real pain. A bit of a cliche, but I don't really mind it. Then a new game character that defeats Red turns out to be his dead girlfriend. Kinda out there, but I don't really mind that either. What bothers me is the fact that after he plays it, he sells it on eBay. He says it's because he doesn't want to be responsible for it. I guess that's understandable, but just letting it go to whoever buys it when it had your dead girlfriend's soul in it just seems...wrong? Though it is kind of a setup for the sequel, which is a different experience for a different person. Maybe it didn't actually have a soul in it, and Zach was just projecting, but I don't know. Just seems weird to me. Maybe I'd feel better if he had entrusted it to a friend or something, and not just sold it to a stranger.
I thought the ending was cheesy but well deserved for zack.
@@pundertalefan4391 maybe after defeating red everything apart of the game that was related to his girlfriend and red were wiped.

wait really?
Red’s face in the red moon in the empty Pathos levels is meant to be a frightening observation, but I can’t help but laugh at the bored face he has
I love the theory of the games salesman. Perhaps the creepypastas never actually happened, and they're just representations of how visiting old childhood memories can bring up repressed traumas.

What really sucked me into this creepypasta was the exploration aspect.
Starting with Pathos, the new worlds were very unique and memorable and starting with Dementia, it seemed they developed entire functioning ecosystems.
...if only it wasn't for that ending. Besides the cheesy "the power of love and friendship" moment, it's just not as well written, like the authors writing skill dropped a few academic levels just before writing it.
I still love it though.
I'm guessing they either rushed the ending or just wanted a sort of happy ending, or both
@@KyrosTheWolf More of a happy ending, which he deserved. The epilogue gave it a more bittersweet close to the series as he wanted the game out of his life.
I love how Red followed the same trait as some of Godzilla's enemies: He evolves, like Destroyah, for example.
Things like NES Godzilla and Petscop just never fail to impress me. So much passion put into the games.
6:07 If you look closely at the moon you can see red's face
For such a simple idea the story is executed so well and the little things that make it creepy and intriguing really make the story and visuals feel real. It’s one of my all time favourite creepypastas
Fun fact : a sequel to this was made about some years ago, it was called: godzilla replay
Melissa’s soul being in the game doesn’t bother me, it connects to everything else provided. Acacius is the real “dues ex machina” bit but I can get past it because I enjoy a happy ending, especially for a genre where they so rarely exist. I DO wish at the very least Zachary had like, made Godzilla shoot a heat beam into Red’s mouth just as G was dying or something
i personally would've preffered of Melissa didnt become an actual part of it, i would have personally prefered if Zach found another way, maybe even just thorugh sheer, pure detemrination to keep fighting and not let Red win, or maybe even a downer ending where Zach succumbs to Red

That is a very common opinion. I can see where it comes from though. I didn't mind it, but it was super corny.
it wasnt that bad
You mean the bit where Melissa returns in the form of a blue angel? Or the bit where Zachary sells the game? If it were up to me I'd get rid of the game like in Jumanji
every world until zenith was great because they, for the most part, didnt have the melissa sidestory
Don’t worry, transcendence fixed it for you.
Here’s two fun facts about the Creepypasta.
1: Red was inspired by the author asking himself “what if Giygas was a kaiju,” which I think makes an _uncomfortable_ amount of sense.
2: The author got so many complaints about the ending that he wrote an alternate version where, during the final battle, Red transforms into John Madden. Most people agree (with varying degrees of seriousness) that this is superior to the canon ending.

What I really like about this story is how much more fleshed out it is than the common trite of the gaming creepypasta genre. You ever play the fan game of Sonic.exe? It sucks. It’s boring. You walk to the right and die three times. Nothing happens, no real story within the game itself. It’s completely accurate to the original story, but the original story was ass.
Godzilla NES meanwhile does what no other gaming creepypasta does to my knowledge: a full haunted playthrough, if you will. Not a few glitches or a brief specific experience. An entire game of anomalies, aberrations, and horrors. Subsequently, an entire journey for our main character where he actually goes through multiple emotions. It uses many of the common tropes yes, but it has something the vast VAST majority of other gaming pastas lack: depth.
This is legitimately one of the best creepypastas I’ve ever seen. At least in my opinion. My favorite reading of it is the one done by Goji73, he did an amazing job with it, especially with the music, and sound effects he used.

I have my own personal theory about RED and the main story within the Creepypasta.
As stated around the end of the video, RED is a demonic representation of the condition Melissa had (implied to be dementia in-game), meaning that RED isn't technically real. RED is a manifestation of both Melissa's dementia but also Zach's subconscious. The dementia part is shown with the 'Not-[[insert Godzilla monster here]]' characters, like Not-Gezora and Not-Gigan, etc. While Zach himself probably doesn't have dementia, it represents Melissa in the sense that the game is 'forgetting' what the monsters look like, turning them into strange abominations.
It isn't RED that keeps Zach playing the game, it's Zach's subconscious. Him playing the game is his way of coping with Melissa's death, fighting against her dementia and the creatures that spawn from it. He wants to stop, but is physically incapable of doing so because his body isn't letting him. He's getting himself hurt the longer he plays, but his subconscious convinces his body to keep playing so as to fully cope. RED was able to hurt Zach because Zach couldn't accept the real truth: Melissa is truly dead, and realizing that caused him physical pain. It could be him hurting himself because of his denial, or he's hurting himself from the pain of realizing that RED is what killed Melissa. It pains him to face RED because RED is his guilt personified. "If only I could've helped her with her condition", "If only I could've stopped her from running out in the road". (Not actual quotes, just small theories as to what went through Zach's head during that fight.)
Melissa herself as 'The Angel' is the part of Zach that wants to let go, that needs Zach to win in order realize the truth but not let it consume him in a negative way. The part of Zach that wants him to forgive himself for her death. Acacius was hard for me to pin down what he was exactly, but I think Acacius represents either the beauty of the truth and how good life will be if Zach accepts the truth and moves on, or the Archangel Michael, as there's a few small religious tones within the story. Though, I find the first one a bit more agreeable.
This is all a theory. I understand if you want to believe RED is an actual demon that caused Melissa to kill herself, this is just my 'realistic' take on things. I find it a bit scarier, as it's easier to relate to and seems more plausible.
EDIT: this was copied and pasted from another comment on another NES Godzilla video, so if you see inconsistencies, it was because they were more relevant to the other video compared to this one.
I'm very late here but I think it's worth noting that Orga is from the movie Godzilla 2000, which was released in 1999

5:31 Is that Red's face subtly merged into the red moon? XD
Me who doesn't have any trauma:
I am four parallel universes ahead of you
dude the worldbuilding in this creepypasta is so incredible
In 25:25 solomon’s eyes are green because he was actually serving red so when red was killed he was out of red’s control
5:42 reds face is in da red planet
11:41 tbh this isn’t the main image I think of when thinking of this pasta, it gives me similar vibes to Flandre scarlet in bad apple.
This is the one that often comes to mind when I think about the pasta. That and when he shoots out another mouth.
@@Sacrow to me the ending is the fact he has a final phase is the real image for me.
@@Sacrow to me it's the red kill image (my pfp)
flan
Touhou moment
The only game that spammed the color red without being cringe
im sorry but the part where the person says "not this time, asshole!" and RED stares at the player makes me crack up. RED looks so offended it's hilarious to me
in the period between this and the other appearence of red, he was having a mental breakdown...
"its also the start of the personalized horror--"
*_You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?_*
I noticed that in pathos the blood moon had reds face carved in it/ and or red was the moon
Finally someone who sees it
Every copy of NES Godzilla is personalised
The red moon has reds face on it nice little touch
