Thanks @CameraTim - I made chromed, extruded #DaVinciResolve logo after watching your live stream (a few times😅). This is a huge upgrade on that workflow.
@@selftravelling Did you install the X Session .lua file in the correct folder? You might need to double check the file path to ensure you put it in the right place (or check one of the alternative folders mentioned).
For whatever reason when I click on spolygon in the Scripts nothing happens. Not even a single node pop up. Then, I head over to Console and this dialogue appear "...sign\DaVinci Resolve\Fusion\Scripts\Utility\spolygon.lua:13: attempt to index local 'a' (a nil value)". Someone know what's happened please tell me! Thank you in advance.
My assumption is that the group isn't selected. The way that script works is it's looking for whatever you group you have selected to determine what it's supposed to convert. So the polygons don't even need to be connected to anything, they just need to be in the group (which is also why deleting the background and merge nodes is necessary to avoid blank sPolygons). I haven't tested this method in Resolve 19 though, so hopefully that didn't break anything.
@@pranadive Sounds like some nodes got reformatted. I know they made a change to the shape nodes, but I was under the impression it was just adding two new ones. I’ll have to look into it more.
Execllent! Even create a keyframe with spotlight movement. Only I spent roughly 3hrs getting it right and now can find my work anywhere 🤨The 2D logo is still in the bin along with the composition but it's empty. Any ideas?
@CameraTim Hi, it's the actual comp. Everything else went well only once I finished and restarted, I couldn't find it. Bearing in mind that I've only been my crossover to Resolve this past week, so probably something quite simple 🤷♂️
@@take1coach Ah, did you go into Fusion on a specific clip maybe or did you create a Fusion Composition from the Effects tab? I would also double check to make sure it’s either in the Media Pool or in a different timeline.
@@CameraTim Well the good news is that I created 3D revolving logo, w/text from a png image, so a big thanks for that! The bad news is that I am trying run before I can walk and lost it all. Not a biggy though, it just means I have to do it again, just need to know how to save it and how to access it once I'm done. It was created in Fussion btw on a blank slate, no clip. Thanks.
@@responsible-gambler Gotcha, if you just created it straight up in Fusion before creating a timeline, usually it’ll generate a Fusion comp in your Media Pool, that’s typically where you’d find it.
I have been trying this with a couple of different logos for a clinic i work for. I've followed pretty much every step (except the stransform node, because the VectorSnapshot script didn't affect the dimensions, and brightness/contrast, because the text is white), but i am still having difficulty getting the same final product as you are. I require assistance!
@@CameraTim a lot of it has to do with the images being different resolutions. i know this doesn't help, but it's hard to explain via text. i've been trying to figure out different methods all day. i'd be happy with sending the project and getting some insight.
@@CameraTim ok, so I have two different logo files that i combined into one logo in PS and exported as a PNG, making sure the entire background was transparent. even with pre-divide/post-multiply on, there is something strange going on with the background. it's as if only one of the incorporated logos has a transparent background. been trying multiple methods, even going back to just doing a 2D edge glow/trace effect.
@@N870_official Gotcha, if you want to send the files to me, you can send them to my business email (in the description) and I can check them out when I’m able. As far as the Photoshop file goes, you probably don’t have to export that file because Fusion can import PSD files directly with all the layers. But yeah, if any part of those layers doesn’t have alpha, that could mess up the processes. You could try the Luma Keyer method, although not ideal, if you can’t remove the background in one of your assets, but I’d imagine that would be better to do in PS directly.
following your tutorial. when i add the mediain1 back to the extrude3d the image goes super weird, it doesn't even look like my image at all. any help would be appreciated. not sure where i would send a screenshot of what im seeing.
It could be a resolution mismatch, but if you want to send a screen shot or recording to me, you can send it to the email listed in the description through Google Drive and I could take a look at it.
@@ericzimmer6896 Ah, I see it. So yeah, because that text is so thin, it just needs to be extended for the edges of the 3D shape to have data to use. So the Erode/Dilate trick after the MediaIn node before it goes back into the Extrude3D should fix the issue.
@@ericzimmer6896 Hm, it shouldn't do nothing. If everything is just one color though, you don't really need a material input. Or you could just use a Background node and select the color from the original PNG. You just need some color that fills in all the data that the sPolygons need for coverage. I will say that if you have the font that was used for this PNG, I would just use the normal Text3D node, but if this was a custom drawn thing, then that wouldn't work.
Hi Tim, thanks for the tutorial, including Reactor. While I have the studio version of DiVinci on my desktop, I also enjoy using Davinci on my iPad How do i install Reactor on my iPad? I just now Liked your video and I’m subscribing to your channel. …Rowby
Thank you so much! That's a good question. I don't actually know if it's possible yet as I don't have an iPad to test it on. I know MotionVFX has ported templates over to the iPad version, but those aren't necessarily the same as plugins. I'll get back to you if I find anything. The good news in your case at the very least, is that after you run the two scripts, you can bring the project over to the iPad and do everything else from there. You could try to get both .lua files on the iPad in the same folder structure, but I don't know if you can even use scripts on the iPad version. It's worth trying though! (You can find the VectorSnapshot.lua file here after the Reactor folder: Reactor\Deploy\Scripts\Comp\Andrew Hazelden)
