3 years later and it's still a great tutorial! Having said that, it's killing my machine! It seems to crash when playing it on a frame by frame basis and it looks like it'll take 20 minutes to render out! AAAArrrgg!!!

Hi, I have an issue where once I connect all the nodes on the fusion page the image gets shrinked and becomes very blurry. After following all the steps till completion I end up with a final product that is still very blurry even after zooming in to counter the shrinking problem. Any solutions? Thanks

Hola, @Viva Yo. Muchas gracias por su comentario. Me alegro que mi video te ayudará. Saludos!
My images do not show up after changing the duplicate settings, any idea why?
Awesome tutorial, I found in the Render3D that switching the "Render Type" on the Controls tab to "OpenGL" made a massive performance difference. I hope that helps others who commented it was insanely slow to preview and render.
I hope someone can help me in return, when the PNG is at 90' I get a transparent vertical line which is quite noticeable especially if making the object a bit thicker bu using a slightly larger Z offset, I've tried tweaking all manner of controls and settings on it but can't get it to remain solid on the edge on view, any suggestions?
Edit: worked around it by having a 1 frame vertical black bar (the outline was black on the png) )over the frame at 90'. Would love to know if there is an easier way but that worked for now.
Thank you for sharing your update, @Subuntu. I will keep an eye out for an easier method.
Thank you so much for your comment, it helped a ton!
I wish you showed the export and save.
Is this the best workflow to just rotate a png file? Seems a lot of nodes for a simple task.
making my own twitch emotes for when I move back to the platform. thanks a lot my guy
You're very welcome, @ClairaRose. Good luck with your projects.
I did this and saved it as a com file but when I uploaded it to my video, it crashes and now I cant open the project without it crashing. I have a beast of a computer with a 3070... no reason for the crashing. I think maybe I added too many duplicates?
Many Many ThX and Appreciations once again for this simple yet amazing tutorial. I'm consulting it again for my other logo. One question though, how do I export it with a transparent background? Also, would you happen to have a tutorial for creating a fiery logo reveal?
You're very welcome, @OTCAtheist. I've had the question about transparent exporting before but I still haven't found a solution to this unfortunately; the transparency only applies to the logo edit within the DaVinci Resolve project that you create this rotating PNG effect in. If I find a solution, I will create a tutorial about this.
I've done a tutorial before about fiery text (ruclips.net/video/RWXcg_vXnTY/видео.html), but I will look into possibly doing a video for a logo instead. Many thanks for commenting.
Hi Great tutorial it works perfectly!! Do you have a way to make the rotation slower?
Hi @arnaud gagnon. Many thanks! First expand the length of the image file on your timeline in the Edit window. Then as shown at point 4:41 in the tutorial, establish your final keyframe at a later frame (than frame 120) in your video, which should make the rotation last longer. Alternatively, render your rotating image clip, insert your rendered video file into a project, right-click on the video edit and choose Change Clip Speed. Hope that helps.
I've done it once and it worked, i was happy and then i tried to remember it from memory and make it on my own did everything correct and the rotation just didnt work
Just tried that. At first, davinci resolved crashed. Then, it started rendering but it said it would take about 2,5hours! Third try, it rendered it in 26 seconds. Tried to see the video where i had a rotating logo, and i just saw 0,5 seconds of a logo not moving at all..... What am i doing wrong???
Thank you for your clear, understandable step by step tutorial. However, I want to have a playing card rotating, showing first the back of the card, then the front. How do I do this? Thanks.
Hi @Leigh Haggar. Many thanks for your comment. You're very welcome. I am looking to make a tutorial that I hope can help you with your rotating card scenario. Stay tuned!

Hi Conti , first off thank you for your videos . How can i do exactly this but so it comes out with a transpernt background and not the black?
Hi @OlDirtyDawg Gaming. Many thanks for your kind words. I have had this question about transparency in the software before, but unfortunately I can't find a way to export a file this way. You can export the project in the Delivery window with transparency around the actual image by selecting Single Clip, QuickTime, GoPro CineForm, RGB 16-bit and having Export Alpha ticked, but unfortunately the exported video file only seems to open up with transparency surrounding the roating image in other DaVinci Resolve projects and not in other software files like a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation. I will keep an eye out for alternative transparency export methods and will post a tutorial if I find a solution.
Hi C0nti, this tutorial is very clean, but i have a question, how about add new png for ex name card (card visit). I want 3D turn around 2 png same time. Thanks
Hi @zmyi1418. Thank you for your comment. You could actually copy all of your nodes from MediaIn1 to Render3D and paste these in fusion. Add a Merge node to connect this to your original turning 3D PNG image (ending in Renderer3D1). If you want to use a different image for your second rotation, instead of copying MediaIn1, add a new image from your Media Pool that you've inserted into your project by dragging this into your Fusion nodes area so that this becomes a new MediaIn tool. Connect this to your copied ImagePlane3D node. Hope that helps.
this was super helpful but now my logo is no longer a png and the video has a black background can you help with that issue i want to insert the logo onto another without the black box
Hi @MTN MOTIV. Many thanks for your comment. Inside the Delivery window, you can select Single Clip, QuickTime, GoPro CineForm, RGB 16-bit and tick Export Alpha to export the graphic without the black background, but unfortunately the exported video file opens up with transparency surrounding the roating image in other DaVinci Resolve projects only and not in other software files, e.g. a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation. If I find a solution, I will post a video about this. All the best.
How do i add a transparent screen on the rendered file as when i import it to obs it appears black background. sorry new to all this davinci

Many thanks for your kind words, @Wellness Mantra by Gunjan. Good luck with all of your DaVinci Resolve work.
@@C0ntiChannel Thanks a lot I am still struggling with one issue. Suppose if I brought audio or video in between two files on my timeline and later if I don't need it then I simply delete it. But due to deleting my whole timeline shifts towards the left which is very annoying and it just disturbs my all media sequencing in the timeline :(
Hi @Wellness Mantra by Gunjan. If you're a non-Mac user, you can use the Backspace key to remove selected edits from your timeline whilst maintining the position of the rest. Alternatively, you can selected a clip and select Cut (CTRL / COMMAND + X), which should do the same. Hope that helps.

great video just wondering is there a way to keep the final product with a transparent background so its just the roatating image?
Hi, @Tomatoetom. Thank you for your comment. @@C0ntiChannel Have you had any luck on how to save these yet?
Hi @FuzzyBumper. No, I'm sorry. I still haven't found a way to use a transparent clip outside of the software. It's definitely on my wishlist for the next version of the software!

Many thanks for commenting, @Joe As.
this is super easy to follow which is great. Once you get back to edit thought and hit play mine will not play or spin. I am using davinvi 17 but i would think it is the same
Hi @Matt Scallon. Thank you for the comment. Mine was slow during the preview as well at the time. I think it's to do with the device that DR is running on (CPU type and RAM size). I rendered the video created using the instructions in the tutorial to check if the animation was okay and the mp4 file played fine. Hope that's okay.
Check that the 360‘ was also set with keyframe! I forgot, now everything is running. Davinci 17...
I used this tutorial it was so helpful. BUT IT MAKES THE VIDEO UNDER THE IMAGE MOVE SLOW AS THE IMAGE ROTATES… is there a way to fix that? I am extremely new to video editing. But I’m good at following instructions.
Hi @NO-2121. This unfortunately may be slow due to the processing power of the device that you are using. I had the same problem with my previous computer. My current RAM size is 16GB and processor speed is 2.4Ghz and I do still experience slow feedback but if I export the clip through DaVinci Resolve's Deliver window, the clip plays smoothly in VLC Media Player so that I can preview this. Hope that helps.
Hi @FROSTEEZ. I had a similar problem before when I placed the Duplicate3D node after Transform3D instead of right after the ImagePlane3D node; have you checked please if your Fusion nodes are in the order as shown at 3.11 in the tutorial? If this doesn't solve the problem, try increasing the value for Copies - Last (from 40) under Controls for the Duplicate3D node. Hope that helps.
Can you please tell me where I can reduce the rotation speed of the logo, half.
Hi @Kristian. If you don't wish to readjust the keyframes for the rotation variable, you can right-click on your clip on the Edit timeline, and select Change Clip Speed. Hope that helps.
@@C0ntiChannel Thanks.
Thanks for the great Video. Could you explain how to export the rotating Logo with an transparent Background?
Hi @Thorsten.Diener Business. Thank you very much for your feedback. You can export the project in the Delivery window with transparency around the actual image by selecting Single Clip, QuickTime, GoPro CineForm, RGB 16-bit and having Export Alpha ticked. This can be opened in other DaVinci Resolve projects with its transparent background maintained but I'm not sure if this will work in other software. Hope that helps.
@@C0ntiChannel It didn't turn out correctly, so I just put an green BG and used a Chroma Key Filter. Thanks anyhow!
Sorry that it didn't work, @Thorsten.Diener Business, but I'm glad that you managed to solve the problem and thank you for sharing your solution.
Amazing tutorial, as other people didn't understand what I was looking to do, but is there anyway to save this as a "preset" or something so I don't have to repeat this video 20 times, for all the images I'm using??

how do you make the logo smaller or is that possible ?
Hi @ItzMorphinTimez. In the ImagePlane3D node, you can adjust the value for Translation Z to make the logo appear bigger or smaller. Hope that helps.

any ideas how to made this effect but with the same logo on both sides and not mirror view?
Hi @PIELUSHI. I reckon that this process will require a 3D shape in the Fusion window and a particular image will need to be displayed on multiple sides of this shape to avoid any mirror views. I will see if I can do a tutorial about this.
@@C0ntiChannel thank you, btw great job with tutorials ;)

how do I export the file I've been working on without the background as in png formats.

Hola @Ruben Chávez Obregón. Me gustaría hacer los tutoriales en español algún día! Espero que este video te ayude. Un saludo.
can u turn up the speed of the rotation somehow?
Hi @gielecWZ. From part 4.37 of my video, I apply a keyframe to the Rotation Y variable at frame 119; if you wish for yours to rotate faster, I would apply this second keyframe to an earlier stage of your Fusion clip, e.g. around frame 60 to double the rotation speed.
@@C0ntiChannel will try thanks man
My PC can't handle that at all, but thanks for the video :D
You're welcome, @platinshorts. If it's an issue with playback on the software that you have (freezing, too slow etc.), I would render the clip and preview the new video file instead to see if the rotation works; that's what I did on my previous PC also. Hope that you get the effect working soon.
for some reason after it renders it says media not found
Hi @Sovereign Sea. If the media not found is your png image, you could try right-clicking on the original image thumbnail for this in your Edit's Media Pool master bin and selecting Relink Selected Clips. In the file explorer window that appears, choose the folder where you have stored the image file on your computer and try rendering again. Hope that this resolves the issue.
still trying to figure out why it only spins for 5 seconds, any help?
copy the rotation video then add to next frame and again for as long as you need
Watched and followed 2 tutorials now and still can't get my image to rotate.😞 I have an AMD Radeon R5 graphics card. Could this be the issue?
Hi @Shaun Dowling. Did you mean that the image doesn't rotate in the actual playback in DaVinci Resolve or it doesn't rotate at all please? My old laptop had a NVIDIA GeForce 930M GPU, which I think was released around a similar time as the AMD Radeon R5,= and the playback was very slow and my program even crashed on a number of occasions. I had to render the video each time in order to get a smooth flowing preview! 8GB RAM and a clock speed of less than 2 GHz didn't help me back then either and I've sinced doubled these specifications; although the playback is significantly better, there is still some lagging in DaVinci's preview window.
@@C0ntiChannel The image in the preview window didn't rotate at all each time. I'll give it another go and download it anyway and see what happens. Will let you know
Can u make the video itself PNG, because it still has a black border around it?
Hi @Joere. I've only managed to make the clip transparent in the actual project itself but haven't managed to export this as a separate video file. In Fusion, you can add a Merge node after the Renderer3D node. Connect the Renderer 3D node to the green foreground arrow. Add a new Background node and connect this to the yellow arrow by Merge. Inside the Background's Inspector properties, set Alpha to 0.
When trying to export the file with a transparent background, my software actually keeps crashing! In Delivery, choose the following Export options:
Format: QuickTime
Codec: GoPro CineForm
Type: RGB 16-bit
Tick 'Export Alpha'
This is the only way I can find at the moment that can render a file with its alpha settings applied but I still haven't been successful with my exports. Hope that it works for you!
@@C0ntiChannel Ok thanks, will try for sure!
You're welcome, @Joere. Hope that you have more luck than me or can find an alternative method.
How to make the rotation faster?
Hi @Gabriela Moreira. At 4.41 of the tutorial, you could choose an earlier frame instead of your last one (in a 5 second clip), to set the keyframe where you apply 360 to Rotation Y. If you want the rotation to loop, you could also follow the instructions in one of these other tutorials that I made in case you haven't already seen it. Hope that helps : ruclips.net/video/casvqTrzi0E/видео.html
@@C0ntiChannel Thank you very much! In Brazil we don't have many videos about Davinci, and I don't understand english very well, so I'm glad to your video and yours answer
You're very welcome, @Gabriela Moreira. Glad that this helped you.
How can I animate the logo for 5 minutes at the same slow speed, in a single clip?
Hi @Lens. I will make a tutorial about this as soon as I can. Stay tuned!
@@C0ntiChannel Ok, but not just promises :)
AND one more thing: my png logo is transparent at Z offset Translation 0.0005. The greater the value, the more obvious. But I want the side view to be opaque !?
Hi @Lens. You could also try increasing the value in Last next to Copies for your Duplicate3D node. Perhaps doubling it from 40 to 80 might make the image more significant and leave Z offset at 0.0005. Hope that helps.
