I was at this race. And on that day, I became a Harvick fan forever! The tribute to Dale was the best thing that I had ever saw at any race! Everyone had 3 fingers in the air, and the tears were flowing! To this day, We still see you Dale!!! #EarnhartForever
Earnhardt was overrated. Cheated too much, wrecked too many cars just to win. I mean look at what he did to Terry at Bristol! Twice. And then go on TV and lie that he wasn't wrecking him. Let's not forget, he was a shitty father to his oldest son. Gave junior everything and let his oldest struggle. You can read plenty of stories of Dale not being this great guy behind the scenes but of course no one talks about that. Only wanna act like he was this angel of racing. Fuck all that. If he didn't die on track he wouldn't have been remembered this fondly. And his overrated son wouldn't have been getting a free pass his whole career. Junior is mediocre at best. But if his dad doesn't die he doesn't hold on to a job as long as he did, wouldn't have been most popular every year, wouldn't have gotten a chance to race for Hendricks. Only reason every time tried to sign him after DEI was cause they knew the money they make in merchandise and sponsors, and sponsors were had been lining up to be with Dale so they knew they never have to fight to keep them. They weren't signing him for his talent that's for dn sure
@@thomasc.5219 There's tons of stories about Dale's generosity off the track, and no Jr. wasn't as good as his dad, but he did win races and wasn't a talent less driver. Had Sr. not died, DEI wouldn't have gone to shit and Jr. would have never raced for Hendrick. You don''t know shit...Cry me a fucking river, Mr. perfect.
Yep, DW had a long rivalry/friendship with Dale Snr, Larry Mac was the Crew Chief when the Man in Black (finally) bagged the Daytona 500 after '20 years of trying , 20 years of frustration'
Man if we had never lost Dale this battle would’ve had Kevin in that beautiful AOL car AND his first ever start. Harvick was going to run this same car regardless
This finish is better than the 2024 spring Atlanta finish, imo. The final 10 laps of this were all absolutely insane. The finish was unbelievable and the story was miraculous.
Harvick always had a Earnhardt style. He’s definitely one of the all time great nascar drivers and still getting it done in his 40s
They couldn't have picked a better successor for Dale. There's a reason why he became Martha's favorite driver.
Well he just retired
Dale was gonna put him in a Car if Richard didn't
Imagine the stress Harvick had though throughout this race, he’s a rookie driving a legends car
Yes he must’ve been pretty stressed out in that final turn
@@loganbaileysfunwithtrains606?
"Gordon got loose, IT'S HARVICK!"
Still get emotional at that call 🥺
It’s the “TELL ME WE GOT HIM” for me
Here after hearing that he’s retiring this year. He’s the last active driver from the Winston Cup days. It’s truly an end of an era

Likewise... I’ve always pulled for Harvick ... even though he’s in a Ford... I still want him to win
Thomas C. Find it hard to say a 7 time champion is overrated ... considering only 3 have accomplished it.... but that’s just me

Thomas C. he gave junior nothing, not even advice, he never wanted junior to race and was never supportive, so you can’t say he handed jr anything
The fact that it was Gordon giving him a run makes it even more special. He had to be the guy you beat
And Gordo, of course, went on to win his fourth Cup championship that year
🏆🏆🏆🏆
Pure magic.
Especially since Jeff Gordon was fierce rivals with Dale himself, especially in the 1990’s the early part of Jeff’s career.
You can hear the emotion from the guys announcing it at the end
Mike Joy getting choked up was amazing

One thing i miss about watching nascar during this time was the commentary. It all worked so well.
Yep, because DW had retired the previous year, so knew the drivers and the regs and Larry Mac knew strategy and pitcalls as he's America's Crew Chief
Best dam race ever...so emotional couldn't stop crying. Way to go Harvick!
The amount of circumstances needed for this win to be as impactful as it was, just amazing
I love Harvick for putting that race car in victory lane
harvick was living through earnhardt his entire career. watched this live. first full race i ever watched

I still get teary eyed!
23 years later: SUAREZ BY INCHES! SUAREZ BY INCHES! SUAREZ BY INCHES! WHAT A RACE! WHAT A FINISH!
How did Kyle Busch hang on to that car that loose in turn 4?
I was like 12 when this happened so...when he started burnin it down.. I became a die hard Harvick fan right then!
Please Racing Gods, give Harvick one last Atlanta win this year so he can recreate this celebration one more time.
1 more left in July

the 29? because I heard that harvick was going to run the 30 full time for RCR in 2002 if Earnhardt didn’t die
@@Cyanstrat no he would’ve run the 30 but Harvick would’ve been in that exact car just with AOL paint
Gives me goosebumps. Harvick is about to announce his retirement from full time racing tomorrow.
Here after his Retirement announcement

What makes this even better is dale Earnhardt won this race the year b4
In other words, Harvick was carrying on from where the legend left off.
That was on my birthday!
And both were photo finishes

“How did Jeff Gordon hang onto that car THAT loose off of turn 4?”
This is the moment that it was known harvick would be a driver...
That burnout is still one of the most badass I’ve ever seen.

Do you have all of the race in this quality?
Who’s here after he retired? 😕
Now Justin Haley joins him in that club.
what a great moment
Kevin Harvick started racing in the cup 34 days before I was born.

I Remember This Nascar On Fox Moment
This was amazing it showed dale earnhardt push the 29 car to the finish

Look at the windshields, they are dead even
