The most impressive thing about this performance is the consistency of the left foot hi hat. Through the groove displacement as well as the solo, it never falters. Benny is a beast.
The thing about Benny is that his style and 'feel' are very fluid and dynamic. I don't find him to be the most technical drummer but he has a very musical feel which has gotten even more enjoyable to listen to
I love that Benny's just as at home playing the most simple fill as he is when tearing it up. It takes musicianship to know when to do one or the other while being just as capable of doing either.
Benny continuing to separate himself from the pack! The drums, cymbals, song and performance are amazing! Always incredible Benny! Thank you - You're a tremendous inspiration to us all!
Benny just gets it...Not only is he covering a legendary drum track from just about the most highly respected and acclaimed drummer in the history of drums. He's doing in such a respectful, artistic, downright brilliant manner that it just makes you proud to love and value truly great music....
If you want a drier cymbal all You have to do is spray polyurethane on it. It makes it super dry, but be careful when you do it and what cymbal you do it to. It’s a hit or miss with how it sounds and totally depends on the cymbal.
Man, what a good idea. I often complain to myself (or find excuses within myself) not to write more music because I don't play a pitched instrument proficiently enough. I have a great ear, degree in music, but then I say "hey I need someone else to write a track I can play on." Now, listening to Benny's originals and this cover (I was working at the MD festival when Vinnie performed this live, so it's always been a favorite), I'm just reminded, where there is a will, there is definitely a way.
I literally stood up and clapped twice or trice, then I realized I was at work and everyone was staring at me hahaha... Amazing display of perfection, thanks!!
Omg we need these recordings in high quality either on Spotify, or anywhere else! I enjoy these more (both recording/mastering quality and musical sense) than the album.
Well done! Vinnie is awesome; I especially like his drumming with Frankie. Here Bennie captures the essence of Vinnie at his best as I perceive him and his craft. Cheers!
104 down like from those too jealous, too under-practiced, too angry of their own inability to practice, ad nauseum....How can anyone NOT like this guy! Greb-master you have a new follower!
The Music was very new and adventurous. I want to be a jet pilot and fly like Benny does it! I was noticing the cymbal combinations almost right away… and they were also adventurous in my opinion. Benny… you get so much from your toms, given you use a 10” and a 16” only! Your extra snare was used well, really adding spice just in time for that spot of the piece. You served the song very well… and I hope you are doing guest recordings for artists a lot, so they can make use of your ability to do that. Talk later… Chuk
That stacker is so nice for a large stack. I love the technical ability of Benny and others that dont use such a large set up. Benny knows how to use just about every part of the drum kit. The innovation and creativity keeps me interested in learning about my kit and the different sounds that can be produced from it.
A good maple 16x16 with triple flanged hoops. Remo emperor coated top and ambassador coated bottom. Spread out like 5 cottonballs you buy for a little money at the drugstore on the bottom head, inside the shell. Mute the top with a moongel or other big gel thing. Tune both heads just over fingertight. Very loose! Rumble and control my friend...
I have been a drummed for over 20 years now and I had gotten so bored with drumming. Benny has inspired me again after all of these years. The last person ti that was Gavin Harrison. I realized that creativity is way better than chips, but chops and creativity AND pocket are so beautiful. I want to play again. I am inspired by this dude. He's sooooooo good man. His playing is SO tasteful and incredible and just excellent. He is the embodiment of what a drummer should be in my opinion. He is probably my all time favorite now.
what a nice surprise to find this, I couldn't get enough of this tack as a young drummer, well done benny for taking that bad boy on, it sounds amazing and Vinnie would be proud I reckon! awesome
"There it is. There´s the sound. There´s that sound that I know. There´s that sound that I love. There is that familiar sound. There is that great sound. There it is." - he would say ;)
I'd actually be really interested in hearing him play to this particular backing track to hear what he comes up with as a reference to the 2000 Karizma performance.
Only drum workshop that I've ever been to, right after he released Grebfruit. I had never even heard of him and I definitely had my mind blown that night 🤯
Benny Greb should be a genre now
Tyok Hari lmfaooo
Ha I love that and very true!!
Steven James Burks was gonna reply the same! Thank you!
same as Dirty Loops should be a genre too
a person:what music do you make?
me:I make greban music.
The most impressive thing about this performance is the consistency of the left foot hi hat. Through the groove displacement as well as the solo, it never falters. Benny is a beast.
Right on! It's one thing to keep the non-displaced beat in mind, another to commit the left foot to it so stubbornly. Very inspirational.
Mind boggling
💯
Can we get some love for the mixing/engineering? Sounds amazing, and the those toms sound especially thiccccc
Makes you realize how much more there is to learn.
Absolutely! an inspiration to us all.
The thing about Benny is that his style and 'feel' are very fluid and dynamic. I don't find him to be the most technical drummer but he has a very musical feel which has gotten even more enjoyable to listen to
Caleb lul
Absolutely endless.. and I am sure Benny would agree.
This is great. Benny and Vinnie - my favourite drummers by far!
One of the greatest drummers of all time. Simply amazing not only at technique, but also making music.
some of the best sounding drums I've ever heard and his performance is excellent.
Those voices and this arrangement make this song so much more memorable and special, I really love it!
Benny just gets it...Not only is he covering a legendary drum track from just about the most highly respected and acclaimed drummer in the history of drums. He's doing in such a respectful, artistic, downright brilliant manner that it just makes you proud to love and value truly great music....
🎯
okay but that vocal guitar solo was actually so bonkers
"I need the dryest cymbal out there, but I want it to be dryer"
Next frontier will be to powder coat cymbals to make an even dryer sound
BackInBlack_4896 doesn’t paiste sort of do that with their ColorSound lineup?
@@alexleedrums311 Hardest soft pun ever

His snare always sounds soooooooo good
I can't believe! It's awesome! I love Vinnie Colaiuta and I loved to see Benny playing one of my favorites songs!
Wilmerson da Silva Blasphemy! 😁

Steward Copeland is one of the most in-demand soundtracks composer...
I felt the same way about photography, “I have nothing interesting to photograph.” Then I went to a Vic Muniz exhibit. Shamed. 😭
I think this is one of the moments when you really impress the master. It´s awesome to "have" such great drummers on this planet!
Awesome as usual! What a force of nature. He is so smooth and glides across the drums like a figure skater.
Why does Benny lose all of his change?
Because his POCKET is so deep!
This is BY FAR my favourite on the album and I've been so excited to see a play through
Best drum sound I’ve heard in a long time. If ever.👍
A new video from Benny is always a fast click. And again, he had me with this awesome intro fill.
And those displacements!! :D Jesus!
That china/crash cymbal stack sounds amazing, I can't get over just how good it is.
I literally stood up and clapped twice or trice, then I realized I was at work and everyone was staring at me hahaha... Amazing display of perfection, thanks!!
Is this the best sounding kit in existence?
Yes.
A lot of it has to do with the mics, room, and production but yes these drums sound really good as well.
@@will97-88 yeah but it is a Sonor Vintage series
Omg we need these recordings in high quality either on Spotify, or anywhere else! I enjoy these more (both recording/mastering quality and musical sense) than the album.
Great Feel, Great snare tone. Cymbal selection was perfect. and creative.
So clear. Excellent perfomance !!! Thank you for sharing !!!
This is a cover. The original is Vinnie Colaiuta’s. Benny sure does a great job of it too.
Says so in the description mate
LYRICS:

We use many of these cymbals on our channel too!! Loving them too!!
Maybe the greatest cover I've ever seen. Absolute sincere bravo!!
Big spirit!!This is totally awsome!! Benny, you bring great joy and inspiration to making music!!
Thanks for sharing...
It must be really fun to be that good:(
Get your 10,000 hours in and you'll be having fun too!

I feel like Benny has been missing in action for the last 3 years. The world needs more Benny!
Finally, a tune that makes even Benny sweat!
I want that floor-tom sound for Christmas

I’m glad Benny leaves enough groove for The rest of us.
When he feels like it.
Benny, you are amazing!!! Drumming that impossible song BUT ALSO doing the whole thing in vocals! You are the greatest!
Those drums sound fantastically juicy
Benny Grebb has to be one of my fave drummers of all effin time. The creativity on this guy is insane
Spectacular musicianship. Love the drum kit and the cymbals.
From 1:57 to 2:00 you can clearly see his entire body waving and beating on time, starting from his head down to his hands and foots.
Fucking amazing
Every hit has a pulse.
You have always been inspired.
What a beautiful song! Fantastic job! Thx Benny!
Amazing. Chapeau. Greetings from germany Christoph 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
He is the one always blows my mind. I never get tired of listening to his sounds
One of the goats of drumming for sure. Amazing sense of groove blends with crazy chops.
Benny is soo good, one of my favourite drummers, but you have to appreciate sound quality so 'sound' guys - nice job as well!

Groove. Flow. Rhythm. Dynamics. Creativity. From each the best. Dankeschön Benny
I love u man. Loved every second of this song. God bless u & keep getting better and better. Cheers
This sounds like an acapella version of a Animals as Leaders song.
Johny Angulo Matt Garstka is a huge Vinnie fan. Obviously Benny is too.
There was no fucking joke, Jesus, it does just really sound like an acapella cover of AAL.
thorjoetunheim would it not be like an acapella instrumental? or a vocal instrumental?
